Hi Kate! I never leave comments on YT...but I can’t help myself this time! First I want to say how much I enjoy your channel. It never fails to brighten my day and inspire me. It never ceases to amaze me the list of your talents! It makes me ask “is there ANYTHING this woman cannot do? Congratulations on your decluttering...I am in the same process and I’m ready to hit a section of my ‘creative’ space after watching your video...so thanks for that! You know how excited you get when you get a new jelly roll of fabric and see the potential in the strips of cloth? Well I’m that way when I see home design opportunities. I watched you clear your shelves and tell the stories of your pieces and wanted so MUCH to be with you to ‘stage’ your lovely pieces (kinds like you play with the arrangement if your quilt pieces to get that beautiful harmonious pattern on a quilt), it would be so fun. Love your talent, your content and work! You’re a bright spot in my week... XxOo Julia

Never apologise - never explain - years ago, I took down a cupboard that left a big space painted the wrong colour for the room and my daughter, Martha, painted that phrase in the space - knowing it would be painted over - I lived with it for a few weeks then did the repaint. I obliterated the words 'never' and so for a few days the command .... 'Apologise! Explain!' was on the wall - ha ha ha!!! xxxxx

If I haven't used it in a year it is gone. I have filled over 60 bags and boxes and donated 40 to charity and rest to family. So precious to pass down to your granddaughter. I have enjoyed watching and listening to you talk about the pottery you made. Love the saying on your bowl. I hope I saved those book when I had to downsize when I moved to a smaller place after I sold my house. Thank you for sharing your treasures. The outside is beautiful. Take care and I did notice how beautiful you are . Not that I didn't notice before. But it is nice to hear when you get a new haircut and prettied up as my mom said. I found that starting with my late husband’s clothes and his food hoard has made it easier to move on to my clothes and treasures after he died in October I cut out sugar and processed food so he and I helped many people who were going through hard times I couldn’t tell you how many bags of home cooked soup and casseroles plus the boxed, canned and bottled food went on to bless people in need. I wonder if you took pictures of your treasures would they spark any memories of the people who once owned them? I have my China cabinet decorated with a few treasures one shelf is empty so I have been able to let go of gifts, family things that are unwanted by our son and our extended family. We had two refrigerators and a large freezer so it took some time to empty them the freezer is with a nephew now ,as is my dining room set, 10 chairs and a buffet that matched the table and a corner cupboard that coordinated I have pretended that I an going to move in to a tiny apartment what would I want to take. I have also vowed never to be the one who always cooked the big feasts and was left with the clean up.so it has been easy to pack up the cloths placemats the silverware and all the plates. Not only the house has lost weight I have lost my COVID-19 weight . I wish you all that is best This comment is likely a jumble I hope that I have given you some ideas that might lessen your burden.

You do have some lovely things Kate and it's no wonder you find it hard to get rid of some of them! I am doing the same thing and trying very hard to de clutter my home. It has been a great challenge but mentally it feels great to have some empty shelves and drawers. I am doing this job as I don't want my children to have the job once I am gone! My dad died a long time ago and ten years later when my mum died I found that she had kept everything- including all my dad's stuff! It was a long and arduous ( and upsetting ) task to go through all the stuff they had accumulated over a life time. My children will hopefully be glad that all that will be left for them to do - is very little- that is the plan!!

I notice with myself whenever I watch a video of somebody having a tidy up or a clear out I always end up doing the same thing myself. My daughter was down for a week and she and her son did a clean out of my stuff. Some went to charity shop, one or two pieces she claimed for herself. Sentimental to her, not to me. Lots of dust and cobwebs as I can’t get to these things anymore. Still have piles that needs to be gone through. It’s a never ending process as you’ll agree. Good to see you again. Would love to walk outside your house with all the snow etc. It’s 35c here. That’s what happens when you live “down under”❤️🇦🇺

You are such an inspiration....yes your kitchen is warm and wonderful. My oldest cat Sarabeth Elizabeth 16 years old has just recently taken up residence on the sink corner of my master bathroom vanity near the only open window in my house. The window is very high above the shower and tub and provides a trickle of fresh night air. You can guarantee Sara will be perched there by sundown. Good thing I have double sink vanity so I can brush my teeth and not disturb her rest! Our furry friends are truly a daily blessing. I only have two old critters left from the six I had since they were kittens. They are true companions to get me through the isolation of our times. Thank you Kate for sharing routine, everyday life tasks in a very pleasurable way...your success gave me incentive to bring Grace to my kitchen. Bless you! Stay warm and safe!

Thank you for sharing your stories. I am also a sci-fi quilter! I live in the U. S. However I'ts my dream to retire to the English countryside. I would love to live in a little pink thatch with plenty of room for a garden and my pups. Hope you're well. You always brighten my day🙂

You are very wise to make room for all of the wonderful gifts from the grandchildren! It is great to have some of their creations next to the ones their mom/dad have made when they were about the same age! Thanks for the video

This was so charming and endearing. Happy to know I'm not the only one with too many "treasures" in my cupboards. Always a pleasure to see your lovely bejeweled self! Love your accompanying stories.

Great video Kate, fun to watch! Seems like a great time to reorg since our countries are in lockdown. Yesterday 6 of my granddaughters spent the day going through my rubber stamps on wood that I don’t use anymore. I rarely do any paper crafting now. So they had a go with choosing what stamps they wanted and some of the papers and card stocks as well. They had tons of fun and I freed up some space. A week ago I cleaned out the pantry. Not sure where I want to tackle next. My goodness it must be very cold there where you are. Here in Hawaii, it is our cold season as well but only one island is snowing on its mountain top. The island that I live on is currently having fantastic ocean waves that wash onto the main roadway. The traffic is horrendous with tourists and residents wanting to watch the waves roll in and out. So much for lockdown. Have a wonderful week Kate!

I think you have done a lovely re-arranging the cupboard into a conversation piece. I enjoyed watching this video . I have downsized because it was time but when I see how adorable this looks, I start thinking about going back to my vintage days of decorating. Thank you for our chat today in the UK and south carolina.. Margy

Oh Kate I have such kitchen envy! I inherited mine with a new house and it’s fitted to within an inch of its life and it’s my least favourite room in the whole house. Yours is like my old one, open shelves galore and I could see all my stuff! Now everything’s hidden away ☹️. So it’s lovely to pop into yours now and again - thankyou!

I loved this video Kate...especially the little stories about some of your pieces. John did do a beautiful job building that shelf unit for you. His design is so eye catching with the hanging pieces and the little drawers. It looks lovely as does Rita who has assumed residence guarding Mom's dishes. Thanks for taking us along on your journey. Have a Blessed day.

Hi Kate. I really needed this today. I had someone throwing negativity my way and I'm not about that. This was a nice way to relax. I don't mind long videos at all. 😉 You did a pretty good job cleaning it out. I remember those pots to when I was a kid. My mom had a large one what she used for slow cooking. My absolute favorite is the tea set of your mom. I love vintage sets like that. They are so pretty to look at. Thank you for your positive fibe. We are also still in lickdown and we got 3 more weeks added to the already 5 weeks. It's nice to have people online to have for company. With love ❤❤❤xxxx

Hello Sandra! I’m sure, as much as anything else, that it’s Kate’s positivity that comes through to us. She is always so warm and welcoming, and encouraging. No-one needs negativity, especially at a time like this. I do hope that you have regained your grounding. Keep safe!

In the U.S., everyone is clearing out and the donation places are full to the brim! I am doing it and have been for 8+ years now, and I have to drive to 4 places most of the time. I mean, it’s not junk, it’s doubles of things I don’t need, especially kitchen and furniture, it’s antiques.... ugh frustrating! I mean, I use to go to thrift shops all the time before covid. I don’t anymore, for many reasons besides covid, don’t need anything. Could use some bigger pants with covid weight and winter weight I’ve gained. Lol I’ll get it off comes spring and summer and fall. Always enjoy your videos and seeing what you’re doing, especially now. Take care

I have a terrible time deciding what to keep & what to get rid of,but I must admit I have been really brutal with myself & have only kept what I would miss if it all just vanished 😊it was the only way to do it haha, your shelving looks great and what a lovely story about the little boy who you have your drum set to, enjoy your new found space Kate 😊🖐

Kate, a little piece of fine grade sandpaper and about 2 minutes of sanding will take the sharpness off that pyrex chip.

So worth doing this from time to time. One can rediscover lovely things and decluttering allows them to be seen again. You do have some very beautiful things to display too. I loved the blue glazed pots you made, such a lovely colour!
