Someone puts the fake bill in James' wallet before the show (even he was surprised he had a $100 based on his reaction). The fake bill is pre-torn and adhesived together before being placed in the wallet (so they could align another bill with the fake bill in regards to the tear). Then someone obviously sends in the Raven with the real bill once the fake is burned. This is also the reason why Blaine doesn't let him use any bill but the $100 when James offers.

I think a more plausible presentation would have been if instead of having James drink the burnt bill, David scattered the ashes to the wind. Then, when the raven appears with the bill it could be inferred that somehow the windblown ashes were captured/reassembled by the raven. The scenario where the contents of the bill go into James's stomach is too much of a disconnect with a bird revelation. That being said, this was still a very entertaining bit.

They are matching serial numbers, in a sense. David gets a stack of sequential 100 bills. One that has an 8 and the other that has a 3 is removed. Then he sands the 8 to turn into a 3. Now you have duplicate bills. Notice most tricks that use matching serials always have a 3 in the serial.

At 2:32 a lot of fingers concealing the rip and the hidden torn piece from the bird bill. He gave James a torn piece not from the original bill. The bird brought a different bill that matched the torn piece given to James. James did not read the serial number of the note before handing it over. You can clearly see that the folds in the bird note do not match the folds in the original bill, and the torn piece once matched, does not contain a sharp crease. The original bill was burnt. So the bill at the end was a different bill in its entirety.

I legit think that David Blane has actual magical powers, and everyone else is just pretending. I rewound the video just to watch his hands. The bill was always in sight. There has to be a trick, but I couldn't see it. GOAT!

I have also watched him in detail...and you are right..here is my take... What could be the meaning of this crazy trick ??? Well, the US Dollar will burn possibly soon and collapse along with our United Snakes of America Then as humans...we all drink up these tricks like there is no supernatural dark powers involved... ...and it can be totally explained rationally which most of his dark tricks cannot be. You can support David Blaine..and his $40 million dollar net worth and all his Hollywood friends if you want....good luck to you. Then the numbers on the bill along with the A at the end...all add up to 33...which is Freemasonry, Jesus age of death, etc. More importantly that adds up to the number 6. The year we are in is also the number 6 added up. The crow brings in the bill and a crow symbolizes a omen...and death. Which is what is going to happen to the USA soon most likely and maybe all of the world. We simply do not live for God people...we live for our religions, books written by men, money, pride, our egos, our beliefs, our looks, our cell phones, our so called knowledge, etc. Can we really prove any of us truly serve the true God? No...no one knows. However, when you a Christians for example...like I was for years. I actually believed at that time I was going to heaven because I found the true God. While others did not and would burn in hell for eternity like the Bible and Jesus says repeatedly. The Bible taught me pride and blinded me...like most everything can with pride. Pride...is what the devil taught us...just like black magic was taught to David Blaine. Funny...you can spell the world DEVIL out of the letters of David Blaine also. Many more of David...but do you hear him talking about God or morals to others...NOPE. Serve God...not a religion or book and do not trust anyone right now...but God. And hopefully you find the right one...there is billions to chose from sadly enough. This is not heaven...or most likely hell either...who knows? Truly no one does...but religious people or most all of them believe they do. You don't have to agree with me...and you can love your $40 million dollar magician and all the millionaire Hollywood friends of his. I am sure they will loan you some money if you are in need of food for your family;) Because they all are such people of God...;)

@@cryptojuicer I won't say how but it's not hard to remove and replace a serial number on a bill. It's a method inspired by Daniel Garcia which in turn was inspired by Paul Harris. Both are magicians Blaine has worked closely with behind the scenes. Without Harris there would probably be no David Blaine as we know him today.
