I've been running a deck 99% similar to this since Eldritch Moon, and the only difference from my deck is I run 3 Dec in Stone main, 3 Incendiary Flow main, 2 Gideons main, and 3 Selfless Spirit main. The sideboard consists of 2 Glorybringers for Planes Walkers, Authority of the Consuls, and Combat Celebrant for the lulz. The spice is real.

Im doing a RW humans exert myself, i really like how the exert + always watching combo is so overpowered, and the the way humans sinergize in the standard now is really great. I tried to focus more on exert, running creatures like combat celebrant, gust walker for some early game and evasion, and glorybringer that badass dragon. I put some removal like harnessed lightning (2 aether hub), magma spray and cast out, to have some control. The deck is pretty finished, just trying to decide between oketra or harozeth, but im almost picking the red god, and testing some sideboard options on MTGOL

I was running this style pre amonkhet. but converted to w/g before release. and its still good. I demolish most r\w lists I've come up against post boarding regardless I am soooo happy mardu is slowing down and the field is opening up again

I think that mardu in standard is like affinity in modern. It's popularity goes down, less sideboard preparation then it creeps back up

Very similar build to what I am testing, it is very good against zombies as your creatures are just faster and bigger. I would run 4 declaration in stones in the main however as you need at least 4 removal spells for tokens and large creatures. I would also move Thalia to the side board as its only really good on the play, Kari Zev is better it avoids magma spray and has good synergy with Honored Crop-Captain and Bloodlust Inciter getting in more damage than Thalia The main sweepers are sweltering suns, Flaying Tendrils and fumigate. You can resist 2 of the 3 by avoiding 2 toughness creatures as always watching or Thalia's lieu gets creatures above 3 toughness. Gossip, Kari, garrison, Anointer Priest are much harder to remove than a Thalia or crop mate. One for one removal won't beat this deck but sweepers will so its a good idea to build accordingly. Metallic mimic is also very good against zombies/ non sweeper decks giving 16 lord effects, sideboard incendiary flow and your game against zombies should be easy with declaration in stone killing all the tokens and all removal exiles. Lastly I am not convinced that the battlements are worth including I find it mana screws you more often than it helps, combine that with the lack of human synergy it has and I think a basic land will be better, Westvale Abbey could be an option as it makes humans and gives you at least one option against fumigate.

Deck works pretty well. It's probably very susceptible to wipes however, and seems to lack a mid-game impact, but early it's savage. I would seriously consider adding 2x Glorybringer, I know that it's not in the Humans tribe, but the synergy with Always Watching is hilarious.

I wonder if in a format ruled by zombies, all "go-wide" strategies wouldn't suffer under fieldclear like: Fumigate, Sweltering Suns, yahennis expertise nad a few more? (these get also stronger if vehicles are bad in the format) And would't all controll/mid-range decks run them? Sweltering suns can come down as early as turn 3 and that would lose your humans all their momentum, wouldn't it?

Hazoret won't always attack turn 4. Usually? Yeah, but not always. Oketra will almost certainly attack turn 5 with this deck, and you build your swarm. I'm not saying lopside your curve, but maybe just one or two at the top with Hazoret so you have a modicum of sustain should you be playing gear-snap control

Yeah but ''almost certainly attack turn 5'' isn't really where u want to be with this deck though.The thing is that she will rarely attack turn 4 (unless u have the haste giving dude out) in contrast to hazoret and oketra's token pooping ability costs way too much to be really relevant.Besides if u can't attack right away with hazoret instead of casting her u cast everything else and next turn her.Even her ability is cheaper and has more immediate impact (shock to the face). personally i wouldn't play 4 drops in this deck tbh i would try to play as low cmc as possible.That's just my opinion though.Cheers!

I hear you loud and clear but I'd rather play the Hanweir Battlements on turn 3 you catch my drift? tell you what I'll run one just to humour you. we do standard Tuesdays at my LGS I'll tell you how it goes. my build is similar but not exact. Minus exalted and Always Watching, plus metallic mimic and Inventor Apprentice. haven't had the time to upgrade it yet. no time to step foot in an LGS since last week.

sweltering suns is the only board wipe in standard right now and its basically useless after turn 4 against most decks, Kozilek's Return is only useful if you run an eldrazi, unless you can ultimate Chandra, Pyrogenius then you have no hope

Well i guess you can just look at cesor in the new set to see how strong a 1 mana draw spell is. Yes its a counterspellish card. but actualy just paying one mana to draw a card makes your deck so much more consistent and benefits combo decks so much.

Likely so, although Indestructible is a big deal and this version gives up some general Exert utility for powerfull tribal synergies. It simply goes down to choosing what you like more at this point.

Love this deck! Here is my version: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/13-05-17-rWQ-wr-humans/ I basically took Wescoe's version and made it budget. I'm 3-1 with it so far in a MTGO standard league, so that's pretty neat. :) I'm not sure why Expedition Envoy gets so much hate, I played mono white back during SOI standard and having the multitude of 1 drops made the deck super consistent. I realize that isn't the goal of this deck necessarily, as you have a little bit more in the later game, but figured he was a good replacement for Gideon and such. Though I'm probably better off moving the Thalias back to the main board.

Hey Wedge, I got a homebrew that's been doing really well on Xmage, unfortunately I don't have the deck in paper but this deck is the anti-meta deck of AKH standard with creatures everywhere. It even shuts down this Humans deck so long as I don't get hosed on draws. I would love to see you deck tech this but everyone can dream, right? Do note that this deck is powerful but not rotation-friendly with rotation in six months.
