You'll have a much easier time rolling tortillas if you warm them up first. Even a quick 7-10 seconds in the microwave does wonders, but a quick toss in a hot dry pan works just as well. When they're cold, tortillas are much more stiff, as well as brittle and prone to breaking.

Thanks for the great recipe. I swapped the turkey out for chicken breast mince, replaced half the eggs with egg whites and used low carb tortillas and got them down to 214cal with 18.5g protein, 8.2g carbs and 9.8g fat. They are super delicious, quick, and refreshing break from oats and helping to fulfill my protein requirements with whole foods rather than powder. I’m a tourist in snack city and looking to become a permanent resident.

I buy 3lb of chicken breast that I put into my food processor and grind up myself. I add that to 3ld ground turkey mix it all together then break down into 6 -1lb packages. That help cut down the fat from the turkey but still allows for some fat because the chicken is very lean and much drier. Even though the pandemic is virtually over there are still a lot of item that haven't come back onto shelves for some reason. Turkey/chicken sausages are still in very short supply where I live so this recipe will help me out.

You probably won't ever see my comment, but I wanted to thank you for making this video. I have been trying to cook more often lately and do more meal prep, both for my health and to get better food for the money I am spending. Yet finding recipes that are good and/or easy to make is difficult. I just made these burritos, and they turned out excellently even though I somewhat eye-balled the amount of seasonings (I need to get a proper scale or measuring devices). I fit 12 of them into 2 freezer gallon bags and ate another 3 of them (I was very hungry), drained as much air as I could without having a vacuum seal, and put them away. I especially appreciate you having an easy link to the written version of the recipe so I could follow along with that to actually make the food after watching the video to get an idea of the overall process. Thanks. I'll see if there are any other good recipes on your channel that might be worth taking a look at. I hope to do meal prep at least couple of times a week moving forward.

I just made these the other day and I absolutely love them. They are a little heavy on the zip for me though, so I'll be reducing the pepper on the next round. Most years I have my own vegetable garden, which would have been really nice for this. Unfortunately, that didn't work out this year and I ended up spending over $30 CAD to make these. Seriously, the peppers alone were over $7. The turkey was $8. I used the 7 inch tortillas and got 26 burritos using a large scoop to portion them equally. So just just over $1 a wrap isn't bad and they are significantly better than what you used to get at McDonald's for that price. I made these so my kids can have a heartier breakfast that doesn't require any effort from me in the morning. The whole batch will be gone in 2 weeks, but it's worth it. Thank you!

Feedback time! I made these today for the first time, and also as my first meal prep ever. Here are some stats: Duration: 2h (limited by 2 busted fingers, especially in the veg cutting and rolling part) from clean and empty countertop to clean and empty countertop. Result: 18 overfilled Burritos, could've stretched it a bit more. Recipe changes: - 600gr ground chicken (only 300gr packages available, and we don't get a lot of turkey over here, plus I like chicken) - Green, red AND yellow pepper (almost exclusively available as a 3pack) - No rubbed sage. Can't find that around here, at least not for an acceptable price. - 200gr spinach. Again, limited by the packaging size. - 225 gr chopped up frozen French fries as a replacement for hashbrowns, since those definitely don't exist over here. Bit more because I reacted slowly. - 16 9-ish inch tortillas (2 packs of 8), 2 larger ones. I could've easily stretched the filling to fill 3 packs of 8 tortillas. Gotta say: So far, so good. Prep was easy, and went by quickly. Nothing worse than a recipe that has you standing around for 30 minutes, this one just keeps you busy so time flies by (except for the cooldown of course). I tasted the filling from time to time, and it's extremely flavorful, I'm very curious to see how the burritos are after reheating. Rolling also worked very good, I only ever rolled tortillas, I never folded them in. This definitely works a lot better and even saves space in the baking tray. After I've had some, I'll update this comment on the taste, how well the wet towel trick worked (never tried that), and my results on different microwave wattages. 60-75 seconds in the microwave is all well and good, but my microwave has settings from 180W to 1000W, so a minute on either of those gives very different results. Thanks for providing this recipe, I'm looking forward to trying out more recipes in the future. EDIT: Second update after eating them for almost 2 weeks. I've had one or two of these every single day since I wrote this comment, and I'm already shopping for the next batch of ingredients to make them again. I guess that should be an indicator of how good they are. I also promised an update on how reheating worked for me: I put mine in a soaking wet paper towel. I'm not sure if it's the difference between American and Dutch paper towels, but a damp one didnt work as well for me. I also put them in for about 4 minutes at 600W, they got frozen at -18C. This way they come out nice and warm, but not too hot. This is my first meal prep ever, so I don't have much of a reference point, but here's my summary: - Easy to prep - Easy to reheat - Very tasty 9/10

One note, as someone who loves to cook: for people overseas who can't find the frozen potatoes: you want to use pre-cooked potatoes, not raw potatoes. So like if previously you took a bunch of white potatoes and halved them and pre-boiled them until they were almost fully cooked, and then set aside and prepped those into cubes or whatever, that works perfectly. But don't use raw, uncooked potatoes as they won't cook fast enough with the rest of the ingredients. They take a lot longer.

Do you reckon I could shred them, cook them first then add the rest?
@dorianruble78072 жыл бұрын
@@fossilfuel71 yes that would work. The shape or style of potato doesn't necessarily matter, but if you just cut them up and throw em in, the starch is still in them so they're still very tough and grainy. Parboiling them for like 5 or 10 minutes makes them soft but still firm Enough to hold shape.

Burrito wrapping tip: as you roll that first part and go to tuck in the sides, curl your hands around and use your pinkies to tuck those sides in. The sides shouldn’t be straight, they should taper towards the center on the side farthest from you.

After months of wanting to make this recipe, I just finished making it and am currently eating some fresh burritos. My friend, you are a GENIUS! This is absolutely delicious and is going to make lunch at work a million times better and easier!

I've been trying to cut out carbs because for the life of me I can't lose weight, and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a breakfast option that wasn't oatmeal or cereal. I tried making banana protein pancakes, it was a mess lol. But with these, I can buy low carb tortillas, and I already had a pound of ground turkey I didn't know what I was going to do with so this works, thank you for this recipe!!

I had 'Low Carb' tortillas. Low Carb meant they were as thin as tissue paper, and impossible to roll without tearing. Having to eat torn up, messy, 'Deconstructed' Burritos takes a lot of fun and convenience out of the whole experience...

Mission actually makes really good low carb tortillas that taste like the normal thing, and with only 4g net carbs

I just tried this recipe this morning! It always feels so good to have food in the freezer. My husband doesn’t like turkey so I did one batch with sausage, but still added the spices, just cut in half. I passed on the recipe to a few friends to add to their arsenal!

3:33 You can also prepare your own hash brown potatoes for this. It isn't hard, and requires no boiling whatsoever. Skin about a half pound of potatoes with a peeler, then grate the potatoes with a large box grater on the large (not fine) grating holes. As you grate the raw potatoes, immediately transfer them into a bowl of cool water to keep them from changing color and more importantly, to remove the starch. Potato starch is the enemy of crispy hash browns, as it will cause the potatoes to become mushy while frying. After rinsing, transfer the potatoes into a cheesecloth or other fine holed kitchen towel draped over a bowl, strainer or sieve, and wrap them up into a ball to wring out the water. Getting rid of the water is important to ensure the hash browns cook evenly and don't spatter or flare when you fry them in hot oil. (NOTE: DO NOT directly squeeze the ball with your hands! Hold the bottom and top, and twist them to get the water out. If you crush the ball in your hands it may mash the potatoes together.) From the dry state, you can add these potatoes into the video's recipe at the same point you would add frozen bagged hash browns. You can also store them in a sealed bowl for a couple of days, or freeze them like any other hash brown for a couple months thereafter. I use these in my fresh or frozen breakfast burritoes and for regular breakfast servings, they are much better than store-bought hash-browns. That said, store-bought work great for meal preps like this because they're going to be frozen again anyway.

Can I make a suggestion? When you wrap the burrito, put them in a pan on medium heat with no oil seam side down until it gets brown and crispy. It'll help the burritos hold together, and will add more flavor for 0 calories.

Brushing a bit of egg white or even water on the end before sealing and heating will definitely help as well. Plus nice and crispy bottom. 👌 👌 Chef's kiss

I've been making a batch of 12-16 burritos 2-3 times a month for nearly a year now and I can't recommend it enough as a lifestyle choice. I'm always grateful I did the work upfront so when I'm tired or busy I can grab a burrito and have a tasty, decent, and if necessary portable meal ready immediately. I've settled on well-seasoned chicken and black beans with some cheese and salsa and I eat them almost every day. The vacuum sealing seems unnecessary, even with all the other ingredients I've tried over the months they always keep just fine for at least up to a couple weeks in the refrigerator. I wrap them in recyclable yellow sandwich paper and secure each with one piece of tape. At worst they get a little dry (the salsa helps counteract that). But I haven't used this recipe so maybe it matters with certain vegetables, I can't say for certain that my way would be appropriate to store your recipe. Either way I hope this encourages lots of people to try out the batch burrito making lifestyle, it's just so great to not have to think about one of your meals on most days

I would like to try out a "batch burrito making lifestyle" but isn't it also a very microwave heavy lifestyle? I grew up with anti-microwave parents but I never thought much about it... but I dunno.
@Lumpfriend2 жыл бұрын
@@koinzellascheriit4282 It is a microwave-heavy lifestyle yes, a warm burrito is much tastier than a cold one, especially if its coming out of the refrigerator. When I take my burritos places its usually to campus or a friend's place, where I know a microwave will be available. When I hear that someone is anti-microwave, my mind jumps to the possibility that they're concerned about the radiation or cancer or something. Microwaves have been around for a long time now though, and the science is 100% certain that microwaves don't "do" anything to your food, other than make it hotter, and the power density of the waves that might leak out of the enclosure is way too tiny to be of any concern (its comparable to the waves a cell phone emits). Just don't microwave plastic containers, because the heat can make some of the chemicals in the plastic leach into the food. Other than that, they"re perfectly safe (and pretty energy efficient as well!)

@@koinzellascheriit4282 toaster oven is great. Wrap foil around burrito, warm on 275 to 350 max, depending on how frozen it is. 275 will warm it if its thawed. flip it halfway, take the foil off for the last 5 minutes to crisp the tortilla.

I started meal prepping breakfast burritos with my own recipes, and after reheating the center in the microwave I toss into the air fryer with a spritz of oil. They get crispy and extra delicious.

these breakfast burritos are a staple of mine! what a great idea. I've also done a beef/bean/cheese burrito in a similar fashion, they come out to around 230cal each with some pretty decent macro balances. Perfect for a quick tasty meal when you don't have the time to make breakfast or lunch. This video also instantly made me subscribe to your website, so many great options on there for meal prep. Thanks so much for your content!

Only saving time if there is something happening to the prepped food while sleeping, like marinating. Otherwise, you're still spending those "20 minutes a day" making the food, just at a different part of the day.

Hi! Great video. As a personal prefernce I'd recommend brushing the burritos with oil on a tray and baking them on 350 degrees F for 20-25 min. That'll make the tortilla nice and crispy on the outside while keeping them from unraveling without needing to flash freeze.

These are pretty solid, even on a budget (minus the vaccum seal) I do have a question on whether this is a solid recipe for filling you up though so you can fall into a calorie deficit or there is a different recipe for frozen burritos that is far better in terms of getting that deficit.

I did this recipe with deer meat, I had 2.5-4lbs but kept the same amount of seasoning because I didn't want to lose the flavor of my "exotic" meat. Made mornings and quick snacks very tasty. Next time I'm going to do this recipe, I will add more vegetables instead of the hash browns and I will try it out with bear meat. 😊 Thanks for this breakfast meal prep idea.

I did this for years when my kids were young, I would make up a dozen or so eggs sausage, potatoes, O’Brien, bacon, cheddar cheese, into burritos and wrap them and wax paper stored in the fridge. That way my kids could easily warm up a burrito in the microwave each morning. And always kept mild and hot picante sauce in the fridge.

Warm tortillas in a frying pan sprayed with cooking spray for 10-12 seconds per side. This makes them supple and they will not split as easily.
