I rented a PCX150 [ the new one is a 160+hybrid! woohoo ] recently for 2 weeks. Everything you say is true, the build and ride quality are truly superb. At a bit over six feet tall, I found the seating position a bit cramped. If I owned one I'd need to adjust the reach. The keyless ignition/remote is maybe good in an urban environment, but here on a tropical island a real security issue when you want to take a swim. Ideal for beer & drive thru burger runs .Of course time has moved on & the PCX is more up to date tech wise & much better fuel economy for its performance .I find these type of scooters very comfortable to the point where you can easily nod off asleep .It’s a Honda say no more ,it will run forever with regular oil changes.👍

@martinsalmeida3212 жыл бұрын
The storage space under the seat is not supposed to accommodate an action camera attached to a full-face helmet. One cannot complain about a feature that never was supposed to exist and that was never advertised. Regarding the front screen, there are two extra items that are recommended to acquire together with this scooter - a frontal full screen and a rear case. In my case, I also bought the warranty extension for an extra two year period. The main problem with two-wheel vehicles is the lack of technical competence of many local workshops, sometimes making your own safety a concern. I had a serious accident with my previous PCX-125 (in 2017) because of a problem I reported since day one and never solved - the front wheel wobbled if you touch the break, even slightly, when curving. In my view, there was an alignment problem between the front and rear wheel. The bike was more than once in an official Honda workshop and the problem was never solved. It was my first real accident in 40 years two-wheel driving. Regretful and avoidable.

Thanks for reviewing the PCX, I'm trying to choose between this and the NMAX. I prefer the look of the NMAX, the dash has far more information on it's less trendy but more readable LCD and the styling looks more modern. The NMAX also seems to be roomier for tall guys like me. The fact that Honda, unlike Yamaha, have chosen to fit a drum on the rear, so no rear ABS or linked braking at all, is disappointing, especially when in Thailand they choose to fit the bike with a disc. All that said I see quite a few reports of early engine wear (oil consumption) on the NMAX which may well be a deal breaker. In short the Honda engine in the NMAX chassis would be perfect! Thanks again.

I do love the PCX, though not ridden a 125 version I doubt it could be that much different to the 150 really. The build quality and reliability of these is amazing. You can often judge these kind of bikes by their second hand adverts. Unlike most large capacity bikes, scoots most commonly have to work for their breakfast and so it’s completely normal to see them 2 or 3 years old (usually whenever the warranty/finance ends) with more than a few dozen thousand Km’s and the PCX’s always stay looking great which I think says it all really. Deal breakers for me are primarily the under seat storage - it’s just too measly for no real reason - and being a tall fella there’s not a lot of knee room on them. I tried this and the adv150 a bunch but ended up with an nmax purely because more leg room, fits a man sized helmet. I would disagree with you Andy in that I think automatic shut off is a nuisance on a scooter not a boon lol, but to each their own! For me these things don’t actually burn enough fuel at idle for it to make any difference and you want the motor already running once you’ve filtered to the front, so I don’t really see the point, useless complexity in my book. But TC is good, as is finally getting rid of the drum at the back, and scooters always need keyless as little shits will try and steal them Overall good bike, but c’mon Honda… make it fit a proper full face helmet already
@TheMissendenFlyer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback - fair points! You can of course turn off the idle stop feature and according to insurance companies keyless actually makes bikes more stealable!
@jonpram17373 жыл бұрын
@@TheMissendenFlyer can you turn it off-off or does it reset to on at every power off like an electronics device from the 80’s? Interesting on the keyless report though! Is that high tech crims hacking the thing or just being able to wheel it away easier? Bit of a shame as I hoped it might at least slow them down lol. Never had a bike with it, but I do have a car with it and fortunately learnt before it was too late that you can start the bloody thing if the key fob is in a room adjacent to the garage. Not sure if it’s a super powerful keyfob or just my garage walls are made of Papier-mâché. I notice on my wife’s newer car it does seem to only be able to start if the key fob is in the garage however. For example in her handbag on the counter next to the car… lol

Living in Birmingham, mine was more expensive to insure than my Shadow 1100! Reason being that they are easy to steal, as mine was! Other than that it was an excellent commuter and one that I would recommend.

Here in Thailand this scooter is very infamous as a motorcycle for young hooligan riders lol. There are plenty of modified PCX and Yamaha X-max with very loud pipe over here.

Oh dear....I guess they're smart hooligans then becasue it's a great bike!

Looks like an excellent little bike, front end looks like the head of one of those creatures from the Alien movie franchise. BMW pulled out in front of me when I have my Peugeot elyseo 100cc 2 stroke. The Honda looks like a giant step up in comfort, safety and convenience (no 2 stroke oil can under the seat). Might pick one up for fun and maybe try doordash until it's paid for itself.

lack of space for the big helmet = probably a sneaky tactic to get you to buy a top box.

I've never thought PCX has 125L engine option in Europe, we got 160L option only in asia (with the same price tag conversion).
@harveywilde67819 ай бұрын
It's for compulsory with Europe's A1 motorcycle licence. Which meant that you could only drive motorcycles (or scooters) with 125cc or less engines. Technically Asia also once had the PCX 125 with their first generation.

In the city, we don’t really need a scooter like this in the Netherlands. We mostly use bicycles or go on foot or use public transport. The scooters that you find a lot are the electric and normal scooters that are restricted to 25km/h without helmet or 50 km/h ones (50cc)with helmet. You won’t see a lot of 125 or 250cc scooters in the Netherlands. There are more of the heavier scooters around.

Wonder why that is?! Bicycle popularity and infrastructure I guess…..?

@@TheMissendenFlyer a total plan for using bicycles : law, infrastructure, safety etc. See KZbin channel Not just bikes Bicycles are the easiest, fastest and safe way to get around in a city, village and you can park it almost everywhere for free. It’s healthy too.

Im towing with the idea of getting a 125 manual bike for my A1 test coming up. But I can only afford pcx or a manual.

I thought about getting a scooter all my life. After watching your review, I ordered a red Honda PCX 125 just like the one you have. Can't wait for it, it should be delivered in July 2022. If I may ask, could you suggest a good quality full face helmet?

Self-cancelling indicators would be nice, Yamaha used them, the indicator will cancel after a certain distance of travel, is it a feature banned by EU regulations?
@TheMissendenFlyer2 жыл бұрын
No, some motorcycles have self cancelling indicators (my BMW GS and Honda GoldWing both do)

Would love to see you review a 125 Super Cub, but somehow I don't think that would ever happen.
@TheMissendenFlyer3 жыл бұрын
Why not??
@cyclist3969 Жыл бұрын
SuperCub 125 does not work, good bike but physically too cramped for a rider of over 5 feet 3 inches, medium/large stature riders you will not be comfortable on a SuperCub, the Forza is the premium scooter, physically larger than a PCX, but the enhanced purchase price of Forza vs PCX is a matter for your consideration

How can I get the City Grip 2's you have on the front shipped to the U.S.? I can buy the rear here, but somehow they seem impossible to purchase from anywhere in the world! It makes no sense, it's insane! I am so frustrated!

I would get one of these of an nmax to bob around on but I will always be a fair weather rider,so it would be parked up for 3 months over winter. On a motorcycle I could bump start it when I come to ride it...but with these stop start keyless auto bikes I dont think it would be that simple. And I couldn't be assed taking it apart just to get to the battery.
