I roll my sleeves with the shirt still on the hanger; helps if you're uncoordinated!
@lenin68953 жыл бұрын
That's the best, since you are planning your look before putting on the clothes. This won't damage the fabric as well due to the stress of pulling and twisting.

Same. I’m pretty sure all my button-up shirts have a permanent crease in the sleeves from how often I just roll them up on the hangers so I don’t have to bother with it when getting dressed.

Having worked at J. Crew as an inventory manager during the the glory days of the 1990s, I can confirm that's how my boys and I wore our dress shirts, even in the stockroom. We always had a little cuff showing, and the display mannequins always had cuff showing, at least in the summer to give that casual vibe.
@frostyjack2260 Жыл бұрын
In the military I learned an interesting roll. Pull your sleeve up to the desired height (inside out) and begin rolling until you hit the cuff. Then fold your cuff over the roll and it looks super professional.

I love the last one. The quadruple roll that has your sleeve look clean, and high up enough that it looks on purpose.

Yes, you missed the inside roll. I first saw it in college and began using it. I used it throughout my working career, each and every day. I got into the habit of rolling my sleeves up every day whether I was wearing a suit coat or not. The best part of an inside roll is the sleeves of my suit coat never stuck on the roll. For me it remains the best way to roll up sleeves.

Good for women, too! My go-to top choice, especially for cooler weather, is to wear a pretty print tunic (kimono, cardigan, jacket - whatever you want to call it) over a solid-colored, long-sleeved mock turtleneck pullover. My favorite look is to roll up the sleeves of both shirts together, giving me a solid-colored cuff to contrast with the print tunic's sleeve. I guess it's my trademark style.

My husband was a bartender. He always used an inside roll which ended up with everything on the inside of the sleeve. It looks very neat too and doesn't catch on glasses or other things that spill while he is working.

Basic roll for me. When it's too warm/hot I definitely get them up my elbows, so usually ending with a half turn. Otherwise I leave them below the elbow, and some times normal turns, other times with a half turn in the end

Oh, good this helps. I’m female, but have to buy men’s mediums for my broad shoulders, long arms, and for fabric quality. Even a men’s medium is an inch too short in the sleeves. I tend to alter the waist to fit better. I have a ladies’ large flannel (that I still had to alter the waist), but the sleeves are a really awkward length. Now I know how to roll them up so it’s a little more put together (I chose the above the elbow J. Crew and the triple roll)
@jproog413 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. I like seeing the various type of rolls one can employ. However, it is my opinion, and many in my professional circles (FWIW) that rolls should NEVER stop below the elbow.

I naturally found that 3 turn and 4 turn works for me. Two turn is just too long of a sleeve, and if I need to use the sink, I just make one of "bad turns" and just fold it all the way to the elbow once.
