@@larissa1770 Have you seen anyone CGI'd to a truly realistic level yet? Someone you truly can't actually tell is not real? A face that is moving and not just a still image? It's insanely difficult because of what is called the Uncanny Valley - the tiny little pieces of an artificial face that overall looks anatomically correct, but which some part of us recognise as... wrong. It just looks wrong, even if it's modeled correctly. Even modern CGI can't do it properly, not yet, and these films are around a decade old now. They had a massive budget as you said, and they had some magnificent industry veterans doing the CGI - such as Phil Tippett, a Star Wars special effects alumni. And yet the wolves still look slightly off and the baby looks weird. It's not anyone's fault. They HAD to do a CGI baby because they couldn't use a real baby. Why? Because Renesmee needed to focus instantly and for a long time on a person's face, and real babies can't or at least don't do that. They needed the face to have certain expressions and for the eyes to instantly focus on a face and show expression. The only expression babies can show is smiling, crying or looking vaguely constipated. So that's the logic behind it - CGI is not at that level yet. Not today, and not a decade ago when these films were made.
@Ivy94F3 жыл бұрын
@@Quessir Yeah, I totally understand why they did it that way, but I don’t think everyone understood why she looked weird. The way she’s described as a baby in the books, just wouldn’t work with a real baby. But the CGI baby just made it worse and more confusing for those who didn’t read the books.

She can sever and create bonds of loyalty, but her gift only works on unmated vampires with no coven/family, and Bella’s shield prevents her gift from reaching anyone connected to Bella. Chelsea’s not even given a line in the books, but her gift is referenced because it keeps the entire Volturi Guard brainwashed and subservient.

regarding aro's plan to get alice to join them, I think in the books at least there's a member of the volturi (chelsea) who can influence the strength of the emotional bonds between people? So once the rest of them are dead, she can weaken the relationship between alice and the rest of the cullens, so that she could then more easily be brought into the volturi. Jacob 'It's not what you think, Bella' Jacob (end of movie - to Edward) - Does this mean I can call you dad? Clearly, Jacob - it's exactly what Bella was thinking. Whether it was his choice or not, imprinting (especially on a child) is little more than grooming. Bella's reaction (i.e. - wanting to hurt/kill Jacob for imprinting on Renesmee) is actually one of the sanest/most logical things that character has ever done (too bad she got distracted by Jacob's buddy stepping in; then later vampire nookie with Edward. After that, she was a-okay with the arrangement).

@@summerrose8110 According to the authors own lore - Renesmess doesn't have a choice (we've seen what happens when an imprintee tries to refuse an imprinter via Emily and Sam). Not a single imprinted pair you see are anything but a romantic pair (with the exception of Quill and Claire, for obvious reason; but it's heavily implied Quill is waiting for Claire to become of age before going from brother to lover; given that he refuses to even consider dating a girl his own age). Even Jacob has made it clear he has every intention for Renesmee to be his future lover/wife by asking Edward if he should start calling him 'Dad'.

@@madamefluffy4788 I thought according to the author's own lore, it doesn't have to be romantic, and actually its JACOB that doesn't have a choice. The imprinter will be anything the imprintee wants them to be, brother, caretaker, protector, lover. Jacob is basically forced to love her unconditionally, and if she wanted him to be romantically involved (ew), he would basically be whatever she wanted and he would love it. Definitely not defending the lore, its gross, but if they weren't child/adult (like the other imprinted pairs we see who are adults), i can see why an imprintee would fall in love with the imprinter who loves her unconditionally and would do anything for her and end up initiating a romantic relationship. Though that leads to more fucked up stuff about how the victim of grooming is somehow the initiator.
@madamefluffy47883 жыл бұрын
@@jas8288 Sure, the author says the imprintee has a choice - but she also asks 'how could a woman deny such love/devotion?' (i.e. - they can't/won't; because - in her universe - the clinginess/over protectiveness/jealousy is supposedly so alluring/endearing to a woman that she would find it impossible not to love the man who shows her such attention). And even if the woman said 'no - this isn't for me' - just look to Sam and Emily to see what happens when an imprintee tries to deny the imprint for any reason (which plays out as a classic case of domestic abuse more than it does true love).

I mean, what could they do? Go with the book and have a lot of talking and no action? Just what this series needs! They desperately needed to have some action in it and yet they also had to be true to the book - Meyer was producing this film, and there's no way she'd have agreed to such a drastic change to the ending. They probably didn't have the power to do it anyway in whatever was agreed and signed before it went into production. If they remained true to the book, there's a whole load of more talking and this showdown between all these vampires with super powers goes nowhere. With this battle, you have a pretty awesome fight, giving the film a much needed kick in pace, a satisfying conclusion while also going so far as to kill beloved characters. Audiences screamed at seeing this happen in the cinema, because most of them read the books and knew that everyone survived. That was a pretty awesome idea on the film-maker's part! If they stayed true to the book, the film would be rated much lower and nobody but the most diehard Twilight fans would be happy. That they didn't gave us some kick-ass action scenes in a film that really, REALLY didn't need more talking. So while I understand those thinking it's a cop-out, really it was the best solution they could have come up with. They give us the action we wanted and they stayed true to the book after all.

The wolves smell very strongly of dogs. Dogs can be quite smelly to human noses, never mind hyper sensitive vampire ones. If the vampires and Quileutes say anything to each other, it's to remark about how the other smells very bad. But they were also several hundred feet away from them, so among all the vampire and especially wolf/dog smell, it would have been difficult even for them to get Renesmee's scent. As for looking like she has blood pulsing through her veins, Carlisle points out that they can see it in her face, and Caius barks back that this could be easily faked.

Oh dear... it can’t be good if they chose that cgi instead 😳 - Sam

@@themoviebud1988 The puppet was a test to see if it could be done, because the CGI of the day wasn't capable yet of simulating a realistic enough human face (it still isn't!). The puppet was hideous in the extreme, oversized and with comically Muppet-looking moving eyes. You have to see it :D Ironically if CGI ever does get to the point where it can completely accurately simulate human faces, that would be the best way to redo the Twilight films, since you'll have a cast that won't age.

Seeing this for the first time with my mom, who HATES seeing characters she loves die but LOVES a good action scene, really solidified it as a guilty pleasure. She loved it! All the fun of a battle without the mourning. And definitely better than the book.
