Leah is the only female werewolf, she has issues with her period, became sterile and has to live hearing how members of the pack don't like her because she's sad her boyfriend left her for her cousin, yet she finds time to tell Bella "Hey, you broke his heart, don't keep hurting him" and Jacob is like "She's such a b*tch" Eww

I honestly still believe that somewhere in a board room the workshop to the idea of telling each one of the Cullens families back stories in separate movies but I think Robert Pattinson not wanting to come back to the franchise killed that in its tracks. Separately from that I did think that a great storytelling work frame for it would’ve been them re-telling their stories to Renesmee. They could shoot the other character stories first hopefully building up enough steam to entice Robert Pattinson back highly unlikely but in the background he had to be an elusive character that we never quite see front and center but he’s always mentioned. Stephanie Meyers can’t have anything to do with it because I think it’s her weird obsession with the character that turns him off about the character or at least her delusion that this is a good character.

Plus this gives Leah a way for her to become pregnant. If she stops transforming for an extended period of time her body will 'unfreeze from time' and her period will return and she can become pregnant. The period/fertility worries are something Leah worries about frequently and her struggles being the only female werewolf (she has no one like her she can talk to about these things) and the male werewolves treat her horribly when she is struggling with these things. Just wishing she would stop thinking them so they wouldnt have to hear it, wishing she wasn't there with them, and not even being kind or sympathetic towards her, nevermind supportive like they should be. They showed her abilities when the Cullens and the werewolves were chasing her and she was able to easily dodge their attacks without even glancing back. At the end the only reason Edward was able to kill Victoria is because he made her want to kill Bella more than she wanted to live. Fucked up reality is people calling movies and books like this romantic is it does send the message that this behavior is good, and not only sets young women up to expect and accept it, but also teaches boys and young men that his behavior is good behavior. I have come by men over the years who had expressed remorse for acting like Edward since they thought that that that was what girls wanted since girls were screaming in excitement for Edward and Jacob, men who, to their credit, aren’t excusing their behaviors even though we do need to acknowledge that society did tell them that this was what was good and desirable. Frankly, this is why I started writing books. I was so fucking furious that abuse was helped up as romantic and ideal and was so worried that young men would mirror abuse since they were told it was good that that young women would seek this abuse because they were told it was good, and that happened. It’s not just fiction. Words have power. Fiction has power.

31:15 I think it's because all the other Cullens are warning her that as a newborn (and that part supposedly lasts for a while, like decades) she's gonna have uncontrollable blood lust. And that's mostly what she's gonna crave. Take Jasper......he was turned in the civil war and STILL struggled with wanting to rip Bella apart.
@joeypotter60513 жыл бұрын
Okay spoilers for Breaking Dawn It was so fucking disappointing that she did not get overtaken with blood lust because I was predicting she'd get turned and she'd get out of control and kill Jacob's dad and then Jacob would decide he had to kill Bella but Edward wouldn't let her and while those two are fighting over Bella she's just off on a murderous rampage tearing people's heads off. I honestly thought that was where it was going. But no. Instead Jacob falls in love with her baby. Ugh.

I think a lot of people just weren't paying attention to the werewolf lore in this franchise. The story makes it clear that young wolves have trouble controlling their temper. Alice and Edward both mention it to Bella. We also find out Sam hurt Emily when he was first learning to control himself. And the most obvious evidence is when sweet Jacob threats Mike when they go the movie theater in New Moon. Being a wolf changed him. The story made that clear. It's not about saving the love triangle because it never needed to be saved. Everyone KNEW Edward get the girl in the end... it was a foregone conclusion long before Bella finally cut Jacob lose.
@user-es7ui5mc1m3 жыл бұрын
okay here's my jasper theory that i tell everyone: i think he's totally changed his thinking since he became a vampire (and met alice and started living with the cullens). Since he can feel everyone's feelings around him, he must be pretty much the most empathetic person ever (even if he doesn't really show it) and being in situations like high school, where he'd constantly be around different types of people, if there was a situation where someone was descriminated against or bullied for some reason (and lets be fair that happens fairly often in schools), he would feel exactly how that person feels and he'd know how shitty it is, so he would go out of his way to never make anyone feel like that (and even if he accidentally did, he'd immediately know and wouldn't do it again) also like... not to excuse the confederate soldier part in any way but growing up in texas around the time, that was probably the thing that you just "did" and everyone around you told you was the right thing to do (and as we can see, at least part of his orders there were actually things like evacuating kids, so he probably really thought he was being helpful?) Again, not in any way shape or form excusing it at all, but I also would like to think that the ideologies and thinking of a few years in the confederate army (and honestly only a few years alive, especially like... as a conscious adult) would be outdone by like 150 years of afterlife (most of which obviously in post civil war america). Again, not an excuse though obviously, just some thoughts on his background!

2:15 It's actually ancient dilemma. And at this moment our prediction is the ice with sprinkle of fire (temperature death of universe, with occasional explosions of supernovae). 7:45 Original girl got pregnant. Good for her, I wonder how she would play it tbh. 14:14 I believe it's 14 and 16 for Seth and Jacob. 15:00 There was already a lot of blood in area spilled by the vampire. Also her husband just died. In some way you could have considered it as keeping your dignity, by choosing your own method of death. Vamp probably would have tortured the remaining people. 16:30 Edward also knows shiet - his parents died from Spanish Flu, before he even was turned (Carlisle changed him because Edward's mother asked him to on her death bed). 16:30 Ahh... Inviting minors to the drinking par... Oh wait they all are minors in US, nevermind. 18:15 He actually is - he is known for his love of bear blood. 19:40 Rosalie also is one of the only two Cullen members who never drunk human blood (even when she was having her revenge, she refused to taste their blood, the attack being her last memory of human life, probably helped her with staying grounded, similar to how Carlisle's religious beliefs help him to stay sober). Oh and because of how proud she is as a person and who she was and who she wanted to be - her and Jasper use her original last name, to make it more ok for them to officially date other step-siblings. Really wish that, if we ever get a continuation to the story or a prequel - that it would be for Rosalie. Even if Meyer is kinda far from her fandom needs, and actually spoken about making books for some random characters instead. 23:15 This line from Jacob about working together sounds so evil for me after reading so many Jedward fanfics... A cynical joke on Bella's expense, about Jacob smashing her fiancé in secret. I can't unsee it anymore. F 32:14 Her reasoning is that newborns usually are mindless machines only thinking about blood. 36:30 They really should have just ditched Bella and be together. Would be much better story and at least we wouldn't have the creepy thing in the last book.

Stephanie Meyers is low key racist, she didn’t want any black/diverse actors cast as any character (except the werewolves for obvious reasons, and even then some of the actors are white), and the only reason she was ok with Laurent being black is because he was one of the villain characters. And you can see breadcrumbs of her racism in the fact that she had Jasper fight for the confederate army and no other character questions it.

@@cee3poh888 I always forget which side Jasper fought, I just remember that he was in the civil war. He's such an interesting character but, because the books/films brush over the implications of which side he fought for, I think those of us that aren't directly effected by it don't think about it. In the book it says the wolves figured out how to pin shorts to their fur so they'll have shorts to throw on when they transform. I still say he's stuck at 17, but not like he can't reason or change-- just he can only do so as a 17 year old can. That's why he's perpetually angsty. But a 17 year old can learn oh, that stupid decision I made before was stupid and I shouldn't do that again, and thus so can Edward. (But this is why you can't turn children, which is addressed in the books, since if they throw a tantrum they murder villages).
@janeldavis9053 жыл бұрын
You've obviously read the books, so would you mind explaining something to me? Was the Jacob and Bella story different in the books? Like, was Jacob actually nice? Did Bella actually show some legitimate interest (you know, before the "I'm asking you to kiss me" part)? I only saw the movies once, and it was years ago, but watching these reactions there are moments where I can almost see how great Jacob could've been if they'd just gone in a different direction with how things were blocked out and how lines were delivered, you know? Also, the actors have _zero_ chemistry, so there's no indication that she's ever been the slightest bit interested in him. I forgot that she kisses him, and I was really surprised when it happened here! I was all, "Wait... she _is_ into him? When did that happen?" Anyway, was there actually something worth rooting for in the books? Thanks!
@sistermadrigalmorning2333 жыл бұрын
@@janeldavis905 she's not *really* ever into him, no. The whole "Team Edward or Team Jacob" thing was purely a movie PR campaign, in the books it was clear that she was always Team Edward. But the books, especially Eclipse, does explore the realisation that if she'd never met Edward, she'd have ended up with Jacob. That's referenced in the movie but not well. But basically she realizes if the Cullen's had never come to Forks and she'd never met Edward, she would have totally fallen for Jacob. But because she met Edward first she was done-- honestly there's a lot of fate and meant to be stuff though. There's an idea that the reason Bella has no idea of self preservation, is so clumsy, can smell blood, and a lot of other stuff is because she was always meant to be a vampire, thus is not good at being human. A lot of criticisms of Bella as a character that people make and try to make fun of Meyer for are intentional choices to show she's not a good human-- but will be an excellent vampire.
@janeldavis9053 жыл бұрын
@@sistermadrigalmorning233 Thanks for explaining! Those character traits of Bella's were not shown well in the movies--I didn't even catch on to most of them--so her "I was always meant to be a vampire" thing really did seem to come out of nowhere. It's always a shame when movies can't capture all the subtleties of beloved books, isn't it? I could write essays on how many subtle things didn't make it into the Harry Potter movies, and how the story suffered because of it! Also, if that was just a PR stunt, then that marketing team killed it! I'm seriously impressed. Anyway, thanks again for explaining 😁
