honestly i think this movie is perfectly done cheesy, typical teenage romance - annoying miscommunication and unexplainable feelings included. i really didn't expect to tear up when I first watched it, but their depictions of their families and parents, plus lara jean's love in fantasy but fear of intimacy in real life is extremely realistic and relatable.

The first movie was so great and you can tell because it has such great female gaze, but the last two were directed by a man and you can so tell and that is one of the reasons why I believe they fell flat. Because after I watched the last two sequels I was wondering why they didn’t have the same spark as the first one until I did my research and saw that the woman who directed the first movie didn’t direct the last two. The aesthetic and even how the characters were kind of visualized/presented was so different and it annoyed me.

Movie Josh too is just confused and more like a brother to Lara Jean, but in the Book Josh actually had enough feelings for Lara Jean to kiss her. Way more of a love triangle in the book than movie.

out of all the netflix teen romcoms, I would say this was the best of em (though I only also saw the Kissing Booth, which... was what you probably were expecting). And I do think it's worth commending the film (and a lot of recent films in this genre) for having a diverse cast without it being a big point. It feels... natural.

My favorite little detail about this movie is that Kitty’s hair is that pretty auburn color because the actresses mom refused to let them dye it

So happy you reacted to this movie! It’s a comfort watch and I think most people loved it & liked Noah Centineo when it came out but people became more critical after the sequels came out…I still think it’s a great movie and really realistic/relatable

The kid who plays Peter in "child" form went to high school with me. Also the high school that it's set in, is West Point Grey high school.

Well, I'm 23 and I've never had a single romantic or sexual relationship ever in my life... Ive just never found the interest for it or desire to be in one... but all my friends who are in one come to me for relationship advice over the years especially in high school...

I think they're drinking Yakult at 20:25, it is really good(? The shape of the bottle is pretty unique, tho I think is Japanese, not Korean. They used to sell it in Argentina when I was a kid, I thought they didn't produce them anymore.
@Darkjade933 жыл бұрын
Yeah I always thought it was Japanese too, the old TV ads from early 2000s showed the Japanese Dr that developed the bacteria strain or something... also these are EVERYWHERE in Australia, supermarkets even make their own generic versions in same shaped bottles but they're a "pro-biotic" drink. Pssh, as if in whatever bit of USA Lara-Jean is they have to go out to a fricken Korean mart...

I’ve never seen this movie before but I’ve watched several commentaries on it. This is the only one that showcases Laura jean’s good points and how likable she is as a character. She’s both relatable and unique but also really classy when she can be. Usually the “not like other girls” trope is annoying but on her it’s done well. I like how i see the actual appeal of the movie in this commentary. I might even watch it now

As a reserved person, I hate that narrow-minded way of thinking that people assume that just because we're shy and don't say much we don't have a voice or thoughts of our own. It irritates me how ignorant people can be.

Watching this video as an aroace (aromantic-asexual) was extremely interesting. Somehow watching this love story and hearing your commentary made me feel more confident on my orientations and my lack of desire for a relationship but it also helped me understand a lot better what alloromantic people feel and why this kind of stories are important to them. Amazing video 💖
