On the "making things sound rough and heavy without destroying the listenability", I wonder if the problem is rage artists working with primarily hiphop sound technicians rather than e.g. engineers who have experience in metal. Afterlyfe and 2093 were Yeats two themed album. Afterlyfe had a more haunted spooky experimental unpredictable undertone. And obviously 2093 was extremely cinematic, felt like listening to a movie. Every other project including this new Lyfestyle is the standard geek twist sound that fans don’t want him to stray away from. I also sorta think this album Lyfestyle sounds like his version of Ken Carson’s A great chaos. I personally agree that compared to his two recent projects before this, Afterlyfe and 2093, this project is a step back but he took the sound back cuz fans wanted more of that. He feeds his fans consistently and listens to their feedback. I wish fans would let him continue to be more experimental like on Afterlyfe and 2093 instead of now 4 projects of twizzy sound

Genuine comment: the album has tracks that are distorted and for sure rough around the edges. But come on there’s some really good tracks: Best songs: god talking shit, Geek style, new high, life style, forever again, gone for a min All of those songs have unique elements, fun flows and interesting production. 22 songs is overkill but I always appreciate an artist giving us more rather than less. The album is still innovative as hell in regards to what most rappers are doing nowadays, even most rage rappers. No one sounds as dark and as faded as Yeat does. There’s no way this is a 3/10.
@okluminous5669 сағат бұрын
i agree. it's at least a 6 imo if we are going off Fantano's rating system. I thought a good number of the tracks were really catchy to listen to and had some interesting elements to them. My favorite track has got to be Fate due to how infectious that song is and that end section revealing what ADL will sound like, which was my favorite part of the album.
@Frickenawersome9 сағат бұрын
@@okluminous566 Yeah, even though that wasn’t my favourite song. I found it sick. There’s way more songs that hit the mark than don’t out of 22. We usually get albums with 12 songs and what? 8 good ones? I’d rather have more than less

@@fiki-be7yg I’ve been listing to Yeat since 2019 and rage before that. This doesn’t sound the same. This is far better than most of that. In terms of style? Sure. I enjoyed it, sometimes it’s nice to just put on some heavy sound and vibe. This album sounded really good in my car and had a great time listening. His next album a dangerous lyfe is supposed to be quite experimental like 2093. I think his idea is to make a hard trap album then experiment on another album so all listeners can be satisfied during the year. He’s still quite a new ish artist and hasn’t been in the game as long as someone like Travis Scott. I think the future of yeat will be great once he’s experimented and found his sound. I’ll rate this album 6-7 out of 10 if it was less bloated / a bit shorter it would be higher

I don’t think you can call this album bad. This was a statement more than anything. Yeat is 4D. On early albums before Afterlyfe and 2093 he had different personalities and you could tell by the way the albums were composed. They were not concept albums they were compilations of different alter-egos Yeat has. Alive was a semi grateful Noah Smith not Yeat yet, just experiencing an overdose that album resembled how he felt escaping death. He didn’t die but he didn’t learn from his mistakes. He was more laughing at the drugs and the fact and thought he couldn’t die. If Alive was him being grateful, 4L was him being vain, just coming off the success of Alive he could care less ab being saved from death. 4L was the album he saw mainstream success with sorry bout that. The money and material things were products of his drug use in his mind. I also think this is last Album where he is Noah Smith. Trendi and Up 2 me was full blown drugged out Yeat. These projects are far from relatable everything about these albums speaks money, drugs, and quick fame, none of the songs lead into one another or relate. Very true compilations of how he was just feeling in the moment recording each song. I think that is the best thing about Yeat. He fits the rage genre so much because even though you can’t relate to a lot his lyrics, you can understand the feeling the music conveys. 2 alive was a return to some form, but it was more like refining his sound while doing heavy drugs. This is his Luh Geeky Album, on the track Now(ft. Luh Geeky), it goes between two Yeats, both on drugs but one is fighting. I feel like at one moment he thought he was really in control when making 2 alive, but further reflection made him realize he needed to change. During 2 alive it seemed he really needed drugs to make his music. While he says 2093 was his first sober album, I believe he was trying to be sober on Lyfe and Afterlyfe. On Lyfe he is clearly Kranky Kranky, this is his hardest hitting album in my opinion. Every song is very punchy and the feeling you get is irritation more than anything. Afterlyfe is him furthering his goal to becoming sober and this is where I believe he started to reflect. Afterlyfe is Yeat, Kranky Kranky, Luh Geeky, and Noah all basically coming to terms that he can make music as every version of himself but not working together necessarily. This album is all over the place but it’s clear he had intentions of getting sober. 2093 is sober Yeat succeeding at what cost. He obviously thinks he is far ahead of his competition in the rage genre. So far ahead he sees a dystopian world where he has taken over and this is him as the Psycho CEO, but he eludes to the fact in the album that his other alter egos are still present and have travelled to defeat him. By the end of 2093 on 1093 they have all come to terms with each other in order to defeat the Psycho CEO. Lyfestyle, is all his egos even the Psycho CEO, coming to accept everything said about him: He is simple, he does care about what the fans say, he does care about the critics. He is also accepting every layer to his sound: The raw, the rage, the psychedelic, the futuristic. This is album is him accepting his Lyfestyle. If you ask anyone, Yeat fan, or not, they are going to have a different favorite song on this album. This album may seem very simple. A lot of the tracks are similar, but I think people don’t realize how much he really planned and how purposeful some of the mixing is. I think this album has something for everyone and thats what he was planning. A Dangerous Lyfe will be him refining the purpose of this album into a smaller tracklist and far more finished meaningful songs. I think we will finally get all the egos in one album, on every song. A new Yeat that has accepted the music heads, his fans, his critics, and his new audience. Lyfestyle was really him coming to terms with himself and ADL will really be him accepting criticism and changing. After ADL he will probably stop making music for a while. I think 2093 took a pretty large amount of work going sober and it didn’t have the reaction from his core fanbase he was expecting. He Slipped into heavy drug use so easily again so I assume the next break will be long…

Didn't think this album was as good as 2093 but didnt think it was 3, maybe more around a 6 had some great tracks.

Why do people keep working with Kodak Black when he's a terrible person and he mostly sucks at rapping?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Lyfestyle was teased/leaked a while ago, before 2093 released, and I think he just wanted to finish that album I guess? The name of the album having "Lyfe" in it is similar to his other albums, so I think he was going for some sort of series he wanted to finish

Not nearly as good as 2093 and yeat could have cut like 6 songs but I’m still rocking with the album pretty heavy. It’s a lot fun tbh.

Gotta be honest. Only 2/3 Bangers, so a 3 is really realistic

he only really talked about 2-3 songs on it. GON 4 A MIN is very similar to 2093 and honestly sounds like an improvement vocally, but he didnt even give any opinions on it

Yeaaaaah idk about this one Fantano. Definitely not “musically” better than 2093 but the production on here is amazing and I mean what do you expect lyrically from a Yeat album? The worst part of the album for me is a couple of the features and the weird song structuring on like 5-7 of the tracks where he repeated the hook and the verse twice to fill out the song. Overall, it’s not a fantastic album but it’s has a lot of bangers. 6.5/10 for me.

I really expected it 😂, i really enjoyed this album but it can't come close enough to 2093, i believe this album was just restart, it's like a scrap pack which makes me believe that yeat actually want to do something new, on top of that get his basic fans back too.
