There are two sides to this equation. One is Chinese intelligence the other is the British aristocracy. Neither of these have the best interests of the British public at heart. Enormously wealthy / influential people have more in common with other enormously wealthy and influential elites from other countries and will always put their collective interests ahead of the welfare of their own people. Not surprisingly British media, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the establishment, is very happy to see the focus on Andrew and an amorphous Chinese threat.

A H6 would actually be a rather sharp pencil. A B6 pencil would be duller.

B6 is a softer pencil. H pencils are much harder so you can get a sharper point for longer. But it's actually about the softness or hardness of the graphite. You can smudge and smear a B pencil very easily because it's so soft & is darker on paper.

John is an excitable chap prone to exageration. He says this reminds him of James Bond🙄, which reminds us of both fiction and British overseas spying. They go with H6, which triggers a spy narrative, and then have an MI6 guest, who normally don’t comment, unless it’s to forward a narrative. Well done Emily for steadying the podcast.

Re goods from Eastern Europe in the Cold War don’t forget the SW/MW/LW radios the Soviets used to sell cheap to us in the West. I had one as a kid and used to listen to Radio Free Europe and Radio Moscow. They were cheap and rugged.

People who are concerned about the lack of double blind control trials, reviewed in specialist journals, are not anti vaccination, rather concerned about transparency of scientific process, and unintended harm. I’m old enough to remember the poor victims of the Thalidomide drug, which was not a vaccine but did result in much higher standards for pharmaceutical testing.

@ I don’t know anything about concerns about those two. Maybe there are new versions out using the NMRA technology? If so that could be the basis of his associates concerns, if those concerns are reported accurately. Strong, robust science should be at the centre of things, but unfortunately politics seems to be effecting discussions.

Some of this is a bit oddly reported. I visited Buckingham Palace on personal invitation of the office of the Duke of York for a business meeting (years ago, before even the Ghislaine Maxwell revelations), and I a) am absolutely nobody of any note at all, and b) didn't have any access to any interesting secret information. It's important if he was given access to confidential information or if he was given undue access and influence. Let's focus there?
