He was. When you are paid a budget for a show or movie you don't usually have to spend it a certain way as long as the producers have a final finished sellable product they are happy with. So he was in fact being paid $300,000 per episode. Its called a show budget that you are alotted.For example, the band Korn was paid thousands of dollars to make their third album "follow the leader" and they spent alot of their budget on beer, I think fieldy said they spend like over $20,000 just on beer.
