After that take ten minutes to ask God, the universe, nature whatever you want to call it, what it's plan for you is. @@thinkbeforeyoureact2988 loneliness and alone arent the same. Alone is a state of being whereas lonely is a state of mind. The idea that "loneliness is the poverty of self" signifies, to me at least, that being alone doesnt cause loneliness; having low self worth causes loneliness. A lot of people who forcibly spend every waking minute around other people do so because they themselves are poor company so they cant bear being alone.

Every family has one. They just don’t listen because the message isn’t wrapped up in a pretty bow and it comes from people you have emotional triggers around. I looked up and he was pointing at me. I tried to tell him he didn't have to do that but he said, "I know I don't but I want to." and I grabbed a sandwich and walked out in tears. As a visibly depressed kid, my father in an act of love I will never forget, handed me two things that he said changed his life forever. One was a cassette player with headphones, the other was a book of cassettes full of Tony Robbins' presentations. I think about those tapes and the messages I heard in them all the time. Even now, to this day, when I see Tony Robbins' face it makes me feel more confident. It's weird how our brains can do that. I wish I could shake his hand and thank him. To think, that guy who was washing his dishes in his bathtub and barely scraping by, would go on to give a series of presentations about how he escaped that life, which would then be heard and loved by millions and eventually recorded in full on cassette, for it to be mass produced, and then packaged up and sent to a music store that carried these cassettes, for my father to walk in one day and buy them. My father, who got so much from them. And from there it was laid in my hands and changed me, as well. Incase he ever reads this... Thank you, Mr. Robbins. So much.

I was listening to this podcast and it really clicked with me that, failing is not bad, its the story youre making up about that failure that hurts us the most. You lose a chess match. Thats a fact. Now here's two different story's about that chess match: "Damn, how could I not see that checkmate coming, Im friggin worthless. I should have been better than that." Then there's, "Ah I see, that blows. I probably shouldn't have left my kingside open and overextended myself." I can relate a lot to what Theo is going through right now. I'm in the same boat and trying to address it in therapy. I'm also a recovering alcoholic. I was trying to do list the positives and negatives that Tony asked and when trying to do the positives, all I could feel was awkwardness and embarrassment. I was relieved when Theo said he felt embarrassed because that means I'm not alone. So much work left to be done but I'll get there.

Theo, and Tony. From the bottom of my heart thank you. I’m going through a really hard time and working harder than I ever have in my life, or I guess for the first time in my life, on letting go of all my own negative emotions and stories I’ve told to myself about myself. I realized a couple weeks ago, that every negative feeling I have about myself, all the shame I have about myself, had started changing who I was for the worst. I was becoming a negative shitty person that did shameful things. All because that’s what I thought of myself already for no good reason. I started to become the piece of shit I already felt like I was because that felt genuine I guess. But a couple weeks ago I decided I didn’t want to be that bad person, and if feeling bad about myself was starting to make me act in ways I was actually right to be ashamed of, then I needed to work on myself and be the type of person I would admire and be proud of. This conversation was something I really needed to hear. It was really reassuring to me to hear Tony speak about his difficult and violent childhood. Having come from a similar environment, it was very inspiring hearing how he overcame the negative emotions it left him with. And Theo it was so refreshing and real to watch you open up like you did. I started crying and I wanted to reach through the screen and give you a hug man. It made me feel a lot less ashamed and alone to hear you put into words feeling’s I’ve never been able to express. You’re a really good guy Theo and I think this podcast is a really good and positive thing that you’ve put out into the world. You have every reason to be proud of yourself 🙂

Thank you Theo for being vulnerable and showing us how you feel inside. The interesting thing is I feel like a lot of people have the exact same internal dialogue, but we look at other people and think that everyone is just perfectly fine. Maybe if we all exposed our own internal struggles more, we can help each other out!
