This video is priceless for some of us office dudes that are too cheap to call a plumber. After having a leaky shower faucet for over a year I feel like I can fix this over the weekend. Just have to find the right allen wrench and grab my channel locks out of the tool box. Thanks for sharing your plumbing knowledge.

I wanted to comment and tell you thank you for showing us how to take apart the valve cartridge and replace the seals instead of replacing the entire cartridge because not all of them are available at the home improvement stores and this save me so much time and money not having to call a plumber or wait on a new part to come in the mail I didn’t even know the cartridges came apart till I seen you video. This made you clip much better then the others I watched thank you very much

Thank you for this video. Just saved me a trip to the hardware store and $40. I took apart the faucet as in the video but instead of buying new springs and washers I cleaned the assembly and stretched out the springs slightly by hand. Put it all back together and not 1 drop. Before I had a steady stream of water leaking (not just drops). Again Thank you!

Great instructions! I fixed my dripping shower head in under an hour. A 4.99 pack of new springs and washers did the trick. Without finding a how to guide I probably would have replaced the whole internal unit.

Hello Tan, You're welcome! I believe they tell it to you when you make the purchase, but if you give them a call they should be able to help you out. Great video, thanks! Worked like a charm. I'd emphasize turning the water off first at the house - I didn't, and it was quite a show when I pulled the cartridge out. I was able to contain the flood, but it'd be easy to flood out a room or tub if not prepared. Thanks again.

Hello Jay, You're welcome! Can't go wrong with a new cartridge. Generally the biggest problem is removing the set screw on the handle. Hello Is the handle in the same spot as before?
@darth2wicked6 жыл бұрын
TheOldkid888 yes. I made sure I took pictures before and after. Whether it's on the off position or the on position it just keeps flowing. If I take it all apart and put washers and springs back in, it works as expected, but after turning on and off a few times it's like it looses compression and it sprays out like crazy
@TheOldkid8886 жыл бұрын
Are you certain they are delta springs and washers? You want the package or kit to say Delta on it. Compare them to the old ones to make sure if you still have them. Different size springs are used for different faucets. It is generally a simple fix. Remove the old springs and washers, replace and you are all set.

Hello Mushki12345; So did you replace the cartridge or did you replace the springs and washers? Sometimes the entire cartridge has to be replaced do to water conditions. @Thejaxful Hello; That brass ring is usually the biggest task in repairing this faucet. I would try some CLR or some product like this and apply it several times before trying to remove it again. When removing the ring you must be careful that you do not turn it into an egg shape. Take a wrench and apply pressure around the ring. You may have to try the wrench in perhaps 8 to 10 positons applying pressure each time and hopefully the ring will move for you. Tks 4 commenting and G.L. Al

@TheNumbrman Hello there; This is a 1400 series faucet. The cartridges that are made for these faucets sometimes are not the same color as you have in your faucet. Don't panic;it will fit .These cartridges are free at some stores. Usually the cups and springs take care of any leaks. Sometimes the stainless steel that these rubber cup washers meet up against may have a little mineral build up and must be cleaned.One thing to make sure is that you put in the correct length of springs Good luck! @LittleRedHen123 Hello; Usually there is a shut-off in your house or apartment that will turn the water off to the dwelling. Hello megajig; The springs are the most important part in the repair! Stretching them will definitely make a tight seal! They may go back to normal tension in the not to distant future, but you can easily install new springs and washers! Thanks for commenting and congrats on your repair! Al

Hello Kit Ng; If you turn the main water off to the house then you do not have to turn the hot water off. By turning the cold main line feeding the house off; this stops any water from entering the building! To be on the safe side you should always turn the hot and cold on in the basin (sink) just to make sure! Thanks for commenting and best of luck with the repair! Al

@MrLuvmuff Hello; I have to say this isn't the first time I have heard this. A good friend of mine lives out west and I told him to go with moen in his new home. The plumber talked him into Delta and he has a shower valve that leaked within the first year as well; not to say Moen would not, I just haven't seen it yet. It is a little project to repair. You should find out what wholesaler sells delta and ask for a free cartridge. Shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for commenting and G.L.!!! Al

@ultimouomo11 Hello there;You must be talking about the set screw in the handle.The screw is stainless steel.It is very hard to drill / not to say it can't be.If you have not stripped the screw with the allen wrench; take some penetrating oil or nut and bolt loosener and give the screw a spray.If I was going to do it;I would shut the water off in the night before bedtime and turn the handle so that the screw is straight up and let it soak overnight. The screw should come out in the morning.

Hello Eric; If for some reason either the hot or cold water is blocked the faucet will not operate.You wouldn't have the water turned off in any other pert of the house by chance. I hope this helps. Let me know how you get along. Al

@bigzacque Hello Big; It is possible you have a blockage, but highly unlikely. If you have hot water coming to the sinks then it is more then likely your faucet. It may just be a matter of moving the adjustment sleeve on the faucet itself ( it is the one that controls your water temperature). It is shown in the video near the end where I am moving it to a few notches. This maybe your only problem and I would say there is a good chance of this. Thanks for commenting and best of luck!!! Al

Hello karma tibet; The handle is held on with an allen screw on the backside of the handle. If you reach around the handle you will find a small hole where a stainless steel set screw is located. This is how the handle is removed. You will need a 1/8th allen wrench and turn the wrench counterclockwise. Once you have backed the set screw off the handle should come off. Occasionally it gives a little battle, but most times it comes off without a fight. Tks 4 commenting and enjoy your day! Al

@Rombizio Hello Rom; If water is coming out of your spout; it is the cartridge that is causing it, if your faucet is shut off. The reason it does not come out of your shower head is your divertor does not have any pressure on it to keep it in place to force the water to your shower head. Repairing or replacing the cartridge will stop the dripping at your spout. Thanks for commenting and good luck with your repair!!! Al

Hello Thesoundofamerica; If there are no valves on the faucet and on most bath and shower faucets there isn't; You have to turn the main water off to the house. This will shut-off both the hot and the cold and you will be able to work on the faucet with no worries of water. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your day! Al
