Cool car!!! Back in 2003 I had a 79 Malibu with a roll cage and 454 Bigblock.The kid who bought it from me totaled it the same day.I was the first one in my town to drop a bigblock into that generation of Malibu.😁 I did the swap back in 1992.

With that software, you should be cutting notches and miters before bending. The shop I was working at in 2018 had me doing it. Tubing was a lot cheaper if you f'd up back then too. 😂😂😂

I bet there would be broken body bolts or broken nuts to the bolts that are hidden between the floor and the body mount and would have to cut open the floor just to fix the nut that keeps spinning

So I use to put in some cages years ago and used to cut out the floor just like you have done but I always said if I were to do another one I would take a hole saw and drill right through the floor and frame and weld from underneath. Then around the floor to pipe. Oh course you have to lengthen the pipe go through to the bottom of the cage. Thoughts?

i have done 100s of gbodys for oval track that use cage front to back and the rules say to keep stock floors . for me its easier to cut with hole saw then try a make patch panels . the center section of the frame is so weak that with the body off when you lift up on a corner the whole frame twists . we cut the rear spring pockets out the weld in spring bucket with a thread for jacks . then run square tube to connect the front and rear clips . 99 percent of the body mounts are rusted out plus they are rubber so we swap it all out and make steel mounts

Can’t imagine what a cage cost to do now. Back in 2010 I did a 10pt chromolly cage in my nova through the dash it had a driver side swing out and window with it being certified it cost me 2500. Probably double if not more now. I personally would never put a cage in my street car. It’s just a pain in the ass and extremely dangerous on the street if you get into an accident. But I understand why Bill did it.
