The irony here is playing on the cliched-but true term: "sex sells". It's sad but true that no matter how innocent or plain a situation really is, the media will distort it to seem more sensational. Why? Higher ratings, of course. The human psyche tends to gravitate to extremes. It's true with virtually every topic I've encountered that can possibly be misconstrued in even the smallest aspect. Great job, Onion! This is one of the b est videos you've produced so far :D

And that's not all-he would occasionally force his prisoner and her child to climb inside a metal and glass box fitted with a combustion engine and take them to an empty field in the middle of the city. Horrible.

It could have been me. After seven years of marriage I managed to escape after seeing this program. He had brainwashed me to believe it was all normal. Today I can see how traumatic it was for me. Not once did he ask for my consent.

This is actually pretty educational of how we should be aware of how framing can change our opinions of people. I mean, some of the people in the comments are trying to psycologically manipulate you into thinking that John was "innocent" and "an average guy". Can you imagine? He's so obviously guilty
