I also used a coupon to buy this product a month ago. I believed in the test video, and I camped with this tent on a very windy with rainy day. It was a hell of a storm. It shook hard, but the tent didn't collapse, and the waterproof was perfect. I highly recommend this. If I had to find a downside, the bottom is very thin.

I'm always setting up alone. I treat these framed cabin tents like tunnel tents. I stake one end and work away from that end to keep a little tension on the structure and it holds everything upright. My large tent of choice is the Gazelle T3 Tandem Hub tent. I've had one for over 2 years and it was a great investment.

Doing larger tents is actually a great idea, way larger market for your everyday car type campers and it’s not really done a lot on KZbin. The market for ultralight backpacking videos is huge. These types not so much. Loved the video!

Coleman has some nice very large cabin tents. I bought their 6-person model around 20 years ago and that exact tent is still made today. The only "flaw" I found with it is that it really requires 2 people to set it up. But it's a 6-person tent; one person typically won't be setting up something that big for themselves. Once you set it up, though, you can stand up inside for a large portion of it and have full-height cots, and can even divide it into two rooms for privacy. Super roomy.

I’ve just returned home after spending 12 nights in the new tent, with no problems, the weather was what I think of as perfect camping weather ( so no testing the tent for rain or storms thankfully), and I am pleased with it.

This is a good video which illustrates the point I made years ago about the demarcation between backpacking tents, and car camping tents. If you are backpacking the tent in, it HAS to be a lightweight tent. If you are simply driving in, you can bring "everything but the kitchen sink." So a tent like that really IS a palace.... compared to the 5 by 7 foot A frame trail tent you packed in on the ACT. I only wanted to backpack in and camp for years, but car camping came along in my 40s and it just quickly wins you over. You can bring SO many more things to make that campsite better. It is indeed strange that camping can be very primitive and also slide all the way to glamping and RVs. Some backpackers might say that NOBODY who brings in a camper of any kind is really and truly camping. But for me? I get the AGE THING. When you are young, you wanna backpack. Ya get to be an old dork like me? That tent starts to look real tempting. You just want more comforts and less hassles as ya get old in the outdoor life.

Add in kids, wife, girlfriend, super lightweight backpacking tents unless you're making them sleep alone, i'm out of the market for. What I am in the market for is something i can throw in the back of my SUV with my 3 coolers and fridge and camp for 3 or 4 days with more than just myself. I grew up in the outdoors with my family and a truck camper, I like to share the outdoors with friends and family and it doesn't need to look like a bunch of cocoons at the campsite with single person tents when 1 will do. Call it what you want to call it but here in northern MN, I call it spending time outdoors and fishing off a boat with a few cold ones with some friends and family. I've almost considered solar for the battery backs so we got maps and coms for OnX... the travesty! Never watched a movie that wasn't a fire pit though.

@JNicholsKnows As an adult, we rarely camped at a typical "parking lot" style campground. We preferred "primitive" ones in which there was enough woods between campsites that you couldn't see each other. They were close to pit or temp toilets. They did have picnic tables too. They were also walk in sites, so you might be 50 or 100 yards from your car. But you felt like you were really away. If you wanted to shower or a flushing toilet you could drive a few miles to the "regular" campground with all of the giant campers.

$400 for a tent this size and quality? If you need a large tent, this is a steal! My first 8 person tent for a hunting camp was a $1500 canvas yurt style that weighed tons. Sure wish this one had been available back then.

@@JNicholsKnows. Yeah, this thing is a caddilac. Four season, floor, stove jack, the works. The only thing it is missing is a front awning and the forklift required to move it anywhere. It does make a great tent for a hunting camp, but over the years we have all stopped hunting.

It's good to see a big tent being tested. These instant up tents are brilliant. I have had a 4 person one for 11 years now and love it. As for putting up a larger tent the way to make it easier for one person is to extend all the upper pieces but leave the leg poles half way. Then put the tent fly on then extend the upright leg poles. That's how I have done larger 6 and 8 person tents.

I've been using the kampa watergate 8 tent for years. It's huge, heavy, and takes a while to set up. However, once it's up, you can live in it. With a family of 4, my wife and I share a room, and our 2 kids have their own room. It's waterproof and can stand up to some horrible winds. If my house was on fire, I'm saving that tent to live in. You can even add on another section for more room. It's amazing

Super nice tent!! Would be ideal for my wife and me, when we do our 10-day camping trips to Oklahoma. Our biggest complaints about tents is lack of space, windows and doors. This one has those features taken care of, if it's waterproof, we're absolutely going to buy one of these!! Love the vertical space, and all those screened windows and skylights, wow!! $300 for a 6-man version is not bad, especially considering the quality of the product. Thanks for helping us find a tent we'll enjoy, Lucas!! Strength and Honor.

If I was looking for a tent, and desiring to prep for outdoor camping or survival outdoors, THIS is the tent I would purchase for myself and my sister and brother! WE live in a low income apartment complex. I know that one of these days, the rents are going to get so high, we will wind up homess and on the street. LET me tell you, this tent, would be the one, the type we would need if we had to rough it on the streets!. it might not be so great for winter, but it would take us far, as the privacy panel would be great for creating two separate bedrooms for my brother and then myself and sister. Looks easy to set up, and lots of room for storing gear and water/food and clothing. Also for keeping our four wheeled walkers. So this looks good. thanks for reviewing this tent. I will have to save this video, so if, I ever have to be homeless, I can reference this and find this tent. Kudos and thanks Luke! I knew I would find something practical from your vidoes that I could use. I have. I really mean that, thank you very much. From Gresham Oregon.

This makes huge amounts of sense for a Chinese company in an international market, most tent buyers in China just use them in the park, so they can set up for the day and have protection from the sun and rain, gather round friends and family, talk and cook and eat while the children play. This tent is perfect for that and with the extras it looks like a great piece of family camping kit as well. My Naturehike stuff has been uniformly top notch so I'll be keeping an eye out for your review.

I took your recommendation and bought this tent. $50 off on Amazon made it $350. It is near perfect! It rained hard and didn't leak. I like how the mesh on the doors and windows is elevated which prevents my dogs from scratching through it. ...and she tried! It is the best ventilated tent I've ever seen. First set up took over 15 minutes to set up. (Not much faster than normal. The only thing I absolutely hate about it is that the doors are low at the top, and the tub is around 8 inches tall. we tripped MULTIPLE times getting in and out. The dogs tripped every time! If you don't open the door fully, you step through the rounded corner which is a foot tall or more. If the tub was 3 inches tall instead of 8 inches it would be the perfect tent. We tripped ALLOT!

I've owned this tent for approximately 50 days and have taken it camping three times. But, I've noticed that it leaks at the doors and side windows, particularly during heavy or multiple days of rain. Initially, I purchased the 6-person tent, but it had some fit and finish issues, so I returned it. The replacement they sent me was the 8-person version, and I've found that the fit and finish on this one is better.

I have a tent very similar to this, called the Core 10 Person tent. Main differences being that it has a vestibule with a bug net (which from my research in buying tents, is a rare feature in larger tents, and very much appreciated for me) as well as an integrated lightbar across the entire top of the tent with a battery pack that works surprisingly well. This tent is built similarly to the one I bought 2 years ago, with the same pole structure which I have used about a dozen times with as many as 7 people in cots inside of it. It is sturdy in the wind from my experience with up to 40mph gusts and doesn't leak even a little bit. The last time we used it it was already raining, and 3 of us were able to set it up with the rainfly on top in about 4 minutes, although that is with quite a bit of experience. Great ventilation in the summer, and due to the ventilation it works good in the winter. Used it in Shenandoah completely closed up with 6 people in the tent down to about 15 degrees and no condensation whatsoever. Really happy with it.

I have owned many tents over the years. The last two were both 13' X 10' cabin tents. But the one I have owned for more than 40 years - a 3-person geodesic dome "Eureka Sentinel" trekking tent - is still my go-to fave. For one major reason. The rain fly - which comes far enough down the sides of the tent to half cover the mesh windows (which have zipped covers on the inside). So - with a bathtub bottom about 14-in deep - and the rain fly almost covering the windows - there is almost '0' likelihood that water will get in. This is the tent that I did the West Coast Trail with - that I've trekked and camped all over Garibaldi Park and EC Manning Park with - and even taken to the Gulf Islands and to music festivals. In all that time - have got only one small burn at the front of the rain fly - from a campfire spark. The reason I got rid of both my cabin tents - was because in both instances, the rain fly was a bare minimum joke. I'm an all-weather camper - so here on the West ("wet") Coast - a rain fly that barely covers the mesh panels of the top of the canopy was just not sufficient. I see the same with the tent in this video. I don't know why tent manufacturers are so damned parsimonious with the rain fly.. When it's raining - as it often does on the Coast - it DOESN'T MATTER if you can't see outside. What matters - is if you and everything inside the tent is DRY. And those skimpy little bikini-type rain flies just don't cut it. Unless you have a rope-mounted tarp canopy - which means you must ALWAYS camp where there are trees from which to hang one. In everything I saw in this video - that would be my only complaint about this tent . . . that itty-bitty rain-fly.

I really do love naturehike… I have a few bits of ‘proper’ brand stuff but the tent I’ve never sold and always go back to is their cloud peak 2… after trying various sleeping bags I ended up with a naturehike down bag that’s perfect for me where some costing 3x as much weren’t as warm and were too restrictive etc… and I’m loving these bigger tents they are making now. I have a big heavy air beam tent for family camping but it’s only worth setting up (with the full kitchen, sofa etc) for longer periods. I need something bigger than my wild camping tents but for 1-2 night camps and something like this looks ideal. The smaller ones with stove jacks look great too.

Good luck with your treatment Luke , hope all goes well . As for the tent , I wished this was about when we used to camp as a family many years ago, what a fantastic piece of kit, loving the bathtub floor in such a large tent. Looking forward to the testing Cheers mate Steve

Bought a similar tent from Sam’s club about 10 yrs ago for $235. Only difference is it had two doors one on end and one at a 90 on same end. And just one awning on the end . However where you made the mistake setting up was that you don’t extend the side legs until you get the top frame all locked into place. Then a single person can easily set it up in about a minute

Here are a couple of tents worthy of a review, that I own, but that I have yet to use. You may or may not find them for sale new: Slumberjack Aspen Grove 8 person hybrid dome tent. (Won it on a local auction site.) Sierra Designs Deer Ridge 6 person dome tent. Love this channel!

Thank you. This made me feel better about my issues setting up our family tent. Just almost too big for one man to set up. Awesome once it's set up though.

I have AIR SECONDS FAMILY 5.2 XL, which is pretty fast to set up and overall pretty good for extended stay. HOWEVER, what I have found over the time is that putting up a tent is fraction of overall setup time. Well pegging down is a hassle but every tent needs that. What takes time is setting/packing up all the sleep gear. All the mattresses/pads, pillows, sleeping bags etc. And that for the whole family. That's why I'm looking towards a RTT where I can leave the bedding in. Then again, there ain't many RTT's that can house 5 ppl (although 1 can sleep in car if needed).

I have a core brand like that, except it has a small screen porch and amazing low ventilation. It is excellent ventilation. You can leave the top of the doors open and the end bottom vents open in the rain. Excellent! 10 Person Instant Cabin Tent with Screen Room 14' x 10' 4.5 (47) $ 329.99

Looks nice. I'll have to bookmark it. Wish that coupon was still on. The 6p is still $300 and that is the upper limit of my budget. My poor little 4p coleman sundome (of which I lost the rain fly to) is fine for regular camping but not enough room for camping during deer season where I need to store a rifle case, several sets of clothes, boots, various equipment, etc and be able to stand up straight to get dressed would be fantastic. The many options for ventilation look nice as well. It can still be very warm and humid in the south even during the mid/late October muzzle loader hunt, never mind the ticks and other insects. Thanks for the video, very informative!

Im new here, I have an extremely similarly design ozark trail instant up tent. For setup I usually get all of the legs erected and the tent standing on its own and then I'll loft it up. I've never had any collapsing issues. While not 60 seconds a solid 3 min is doable.

I have a Coleman 8 person popup tent that is very simular to this one. The biggest difference seems to be the tarp (very nice). The problem is not putting them up, its taking them down and they have this center column that all the poles collapse to, that you then have to kinda wrap the rest of that large tent around. Ha, I went to a beer fest before setting this up (wife drove) and I then tried to setup this tent... that was hilarious. I bought the extra rain fly with mine. We pitched on top of a mountain in KY once and had a storm roll in and no leaks, tent stayed up just fine.

My family and I enjoy our core equipment tent at a cheaper price. They go on sale all the time. However on my last outing which rained all weekend and heavy, I did get some leaking. The tent is 5 years old and I plan to rewaterproof it

This tent looks a lot like mine: Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent - 14' x 9'. Although I only have 2 doors and no awnings, I also paid $150 less for it. I'd like to see a comparison some day, Luke

Thanks for this video! This might just be the backup non-canvas version of my beautiful Kodiak canvas tent (although this one looks to maybe be a bit too large for us). I’m looking for a non canvas version because we need an option if there’s a high chance it will rain since we do not have a large space to dry out our huge canvas tent if it got wet. But I love our canvas tent so much and think these types of tents are the best if you don’t mind the weight and have a place to dry it out if it got wet. I got the Kodiak one but the other original version/brand is incredible too!

I've been eyeballin this tent for a few months, but some other reviews I've seen mention that during more heavier rainfalls, the water running off the fly drips onto the mesh windows, and then the water pools in by the seams. For the most part the tent should stay dry but I do see a lot of other cabin tents with this issue. Hopefully that's one thing naturehike improved on, but we can only hope and see down the road.

How's the breakdown. I have a Gazelle T4 and I love it. I need bigger as my family has grown. Before I drop 800 on a bigger gazelle, I would like another option. The gazelle packs down almost as fast as it goes up. I want that.

Will be interesting to see how it does in a rain test with those big mesh windows. When setting out on your own would temporarily staking out one end help with unfolding and standing it up?

Hi, If you want to test another tent that is nearly identical that hubby and I have been using for 4 consecutive years with only one hiccup (and it was our fault, tarp underneath was larger than tent footprint and it rained…need I say more), the Core 9x14 (bought it on Amazon also). Love it; we are 65+ years old and love camping but with are old bones and muscles we have started to "glamp" more and more. We now have each our cots with nice camping matresses and the sleeping bag we each want. Side table in the middle for our cpaps and charging station. Side bags on our cot to store our ipads, readers and our glasses at night. We also recently bought a camp kitchen table that we install in the other room of our tent where we each have our hanging section where our clothes goes and our toiletry bags on top. We add to the side of this table, with magnetic hooks, our laundry bag to one side and trash bag on the other. The only thing we have to bend down now is our shoes but they are all in a foldable basket right next to our door. So that’s our setup for older folks that still enjoy the outdoors. We even owned a trailer but like our tent better. Setup for tent (2 people) with the rain fly takes us approx 3-5 minutes…the rest of the setup is another story but worth it.
