Black is cool! I have been looking at a LOT of mountain top videos with the "F" and "H" brand tents. The aggressive bath tubs are a good thing! One guy had a river running through his tent because the storm changed from snow into rain. Because it was night and the high winds, all he and his dog could do was sit on the mat to stay dry. Also I am wanting to see the ventilation on this tent. At 65mph+ winds snow finds ways of getting in.

Hi Luke, now THAT is everything I want in a tent. It's perfect. Spendy, however, my Coleman has lasted 25 years and I camp 10x A year at least. It's faded and tired So to spend that much for quality, it should last me until I'm 85! By then it will have to be a motorhome ...NEVER!.
@allanpeterson2364 Жыл бұрын
Black makes sense for the 4th season (winter) as it will hopefully melt/shed snow quicker. With those 2 doors the venting should be good in warmer months too. The Baker awning is great... but my first thought was how much snow will be trapped near the top during a snow fall. I'm assuming you can just drop your polls or use shorter sticks so snow sheds off without stressing the tent where the awning meets the top part of tent. Looking forward to your follow up vids on this... Thanks, love your in depth reviews!
@rthompson884 Жыл бұрын
Nice, I love the color especially when winter/snow camping...I am assuming that the north end of the tent is the windward portion and the south is the leeward door down stream of wind. Not sure how well it is adapted to cook, ie the vestibule if there even is one. I don't know if I like using my gas stove inside the tent is wise and I did not see any vents if you are buttoned up inside to avoid the snow and wind. Do they even have vents in 4 season tents?

A cheap camo netting over the top will both add the overpriced camo effect you want (and better due to the texture), but also lofting effect to absorb sun before it hits the tent surface.
@rthompson884 Жыл бұрын
yep, I purchased cammo netting from my Military surplus store and could easily be thrown over the tent when set up but secured. Netting will add to the weight and stress on the poles, something to think about. Would be really cool if they had snow camo netting. Hey Luke! As it happens, I was just looking up the derivation of the word "experience" : Like the similar "experiment", its literal meaning is "out of (from) trial (or try-ing, risk-ing)". So, it's actually not very easy to have a "bad" experience, since we are intentionally taking a risk. But it could be stretching the meaning to say we all have different experiences, since the most common M.O. is to act with very definite expectations about the outcome. Anyway, "Experience the Mystery" certainly has a nice ring to it -- but you'd have to say its just a platitude. Unless somehow you actually do manage to lose all preconceptions, and meet circumstances with a naked honesty and fearlessness that's contrary to everything that we've been taught. Maybe that's what the sages call a beginner's mind.

This would be a good car camping tent for me, as the weight would over burden me for tramping. The only other downside is the colour as dark colours attract sandflies and no matter how careful you are getting in and out of a tent they will always find a way in. The deep tub base is a big thumbs up for me as is the head room. I wonder how difficult it would be to replace the poles with carbon fiber ones? As well as the cost.
