The thing that gets lost about Keane v Vieira is how brilliant they were from a technical standpoint. People romanticise about the physical stuff a lot but the two of them were absolutely magnificent footballers, with virtually no weaknesses, both capable of dictating a full football match.

He played about 2 and a half games for Arsenal, but one of them was against Liverpool. I watched the game and he was easily the best player on the pitch, and gave one of the best individual performances I've ever seen. He could have been a legend of the game if not for injuries.

One of the best feelings in football I've ever had was when my team (utd) ended arsenal's unbeaten run which would have been their 50th 😃 Those matches between us two were incredible

It all comes down to the way the football bodies want the game to be refereed. People can blame players being soft all they want, but they're that way because the changes in the way the game is officiated forced them to become less physical in general if they want to stay on the pitch, so naturally managers are going to start coaching them to play that way and eventually it seeps through the whole game, players growing up being less combative and physical on the pitch because you're not allowed to be that way.
