I got my contract terminated at Waitr because a manager at a restaurant reported the wrong driver for misconduct or whatever it was. I called so many people from Waitr explaining the situation. Called the manager from the restaurant and said he would talk to anybody to sort it out, and they just for some reason wouldn't actually call the guy directly. I'm a white man, and the person who was supposed to be reported was a black woman. I eventually got a hold of a regional manager for Waitr and told him the situation and literally told him to just call the manager directly to verify the wrong driver was reported. Still, none of this did anything and they still terminated my contract.

Worked as a DoorDasher while I was interviewing for my first finance job. Would average 25/hour in wealthy county picking up chipotle from the rack and dropping it off a mile down the road. Was actually awesome and I miss it kind of lol

That could be a large part of our employee shortage where people found a easier job delivering burritos and dropping people off at the nightclub

I think it is. There is a bit of a rivalry between restaurant staff and doordashers. The restaurant staff don't like us dashers, because we get the customers tip instead of them. Also when they quit, they often become dashers, because its a good safety net between other jobs, and sometimes its fun so you just keep doing it. They see that we aren't as miserable as them and I think it makes them jealous.

Got my masters right before covid. Lost my job during covid, then kept getting covid from delivering food. I've got a STEM degree. With student loans, the only thing that makes enough money to keep from being homeless is a job with no limitations like delivering food. I get chased by homeless, had people try to car jack me, and every month is a struggle. I want a legit job, but I gave up after three years of applying and not being able to afford a portfolio website anymore.

You may need to move to another state. There are jobs that will pay for your re-location fees! I suggest checking out Indeed and not typing in your city and state. Just type in your profession and an entire list of available positions will pop-up all over the nation.

some people are living with crippling anxiety, and honestly only making it worse for themselves by engaging in further anti-social behavior. You need to surrender to the fact that you need other people in this world to survive - no one can live on their own and survive for long. They want the services and goods provided by others but can't fathom gratitude for others enough to interact with the people who help keep them alive.

Interesting fact: Per capita delivery drivers is a more lethal job than being a cop. 🤣 I know that sounds untrue but not only is it true, Delivery drivers are almost TWICE as likely to die on the job.
@mcnell3119 ай бұрын
Yes, i believe it has to do with constantly driving to places you arent necessarily familar with, and being distracted constantly with messages and notices on phone while driving. Then you add in the element of encountering 10-12 people per day in their homes.
@chrisrichfield89069 ай бұрын
Also they pay us per delivery, not by the hour, so to make more money per hour, you have to do more deliveries, which requires driving faster and less safe.
