Deleted my PCV for a catch can ages ago. The first empty of the can was a bit of a shock! Decided to delete it as the pipes were split (and I was removing all rubber in favour of silicone) and when I took off my twin intercoolers, I found 1L of oiley Mayo in each cooler 😲😲 UK 🤞

That could also have been from a turbo failure in the past etc, the blue car I bought for parts had half a litre of oil sat in the cooler crossover pipe as the turbo was knackered. Often when people change the turbo they don’t clean the system out haha. I didn’t realise will it was too late and for a front full of oil 😂

my zero experience self just changed my crankcase breather hoses/pcv stuff..I had a couple of the real replacement pieces but, ended up using an ebay silicone set..it was way too wide, had to cut off an inch from a couple pieces then it was workable..right until the last connection from PCV to manifold..my silicone hose end was twice as big as it should have been..my silicone tube opening is the size of a nickel and the one I took off was half the size of a dime..I just wrapped a bunch of duct take around the little protruding knob so the hose would fit better and clamped on that..I guess it works..better than the upper tube being in literally 2 pieces for several months.. for the amount of stress and procrastinating I put upon myself with these fixes, it ends up being disturbingly easy for a completely untrained person to complete the job with minimal tools..I don't know if I like that or not..

This is the reason I make guides as most jobs are doable for most, they just need to see it’s not that bad and what’s involved etc. At least you managed to get it sorted one way or another haha. I'm not keen on aftermarket engine mods, I've seen too many cheap/nasty solutions which have caused more bother than anything they've saved. However, the PCV does look brittle even though it works. I'll look to put in new PCV bits in the coming years. Great video. UK
@TheParrottBros3 жыл бұрын
I certainly agree with some things for sure. The Pcv system is pretty sturdy when new however when subjected to heat and oil over the years it softens the rubber up and makes the plastic very brittle

@@TheParrottBros Thanks for the comment. I'm considering re-doing the PCV but with the Cloud 9 metal 90-degree join. However, the fact it seems "short" is less than ideal. It depends on what your panning on doing, are you going to run a catch can hence the 19mm pipe, all the original hoses differ in size. i would get a new elbow that comes out the crankcase, check if you need to replace your injector seals, some 3mm silicone vac line and some small jubilee clips as most of them use one use clips

Checking all boost and Pcv / vacuum pipes is highly recommended as often get soft / damaged over time. Good explainer - I swapped mine out for the Catch Can setup (APX) - that gap is small on the BAM models, but on APX there's another set of lines in front of the elbow that make it a nightmare to get to 😂 I've noticed lately I have a fair bit of fresh oil over the front of my block - I worried that it might be the head gasket, however there's no smoke, car runs A OK and at normal temps - just a chunk of fresh oil over the block and fresh catch can piping. I've noticed there looks like a small pipe on the APX block behind the PCV elbow - could that, or anything else be to blame for the oil? I don't think it's the rocker cover as it all looks like it's happening below the intake manifold.

Without looking it’s hard to say, if it’s definitely oil then could be the oil filter housing or the rocker, remember the air when driving can blow things different directions. Best thing is to clean it off and monitor it.

Dude I have a 190bhp BVR and there is _nothing_ online about them.. what engine should I pretend to have when buying parts? No BVR on your site under PCV 😢

Hey mate, have you ever considered creating a whatsapp or facebook group for your fanbase to chat and discuss things on, maybe even offer each other used TT parts?

I have not no, the WhatsApp group idea is nice but I wouldn’t have the time to chat much as already very busy and spend too much time on it as it is 😂 and I’m admin in the 2 biggest tt pages on fb with nearly 20k members

Got a question. I bought a new KKK K04 10k kilometers ago. Last week I ve changed my downpipe and wiggled at the turbine of the turbo. Felt like quiet a lot of radial play to me. Any one tried it as well? Although there is quiet a lot of oil arround the turbohousing. Can a broken pvc make wrong pressures between the crank and cyl head tho that the turbo starts leaking?
@TheParrottBros3 жыл бұрын
A blocked Pcv system can cause unwanted pressure and cause smoking but shouldn’t cause turbo play. You should have very little To no radial play. That’s very odd

Just bought a 2001 TT with the a MU motor. It looks like my oil is a tan brown color and it is a little bit thicker than normal oil. My coolant level isn’t dropping and my coolant reservoir has clean coolant in it. I’m fairly certain it’s not a coolant leak. I just today ordered the new PCV valve system kit. Hoping that is going to work by taking the moisture out of my oil. Has anyone had this problem?
@TheParrottBros2 жыл бұрын
I would certainly start with the pcv system as super common for blocking, pipes splitting etc, that followed by an oil and filter then see where you are, cant say i know of too many common issues besides those

@@TheParrottBros thanks for the advice. Today I changed my oil cooler, supposed to be a common issues on these cars. Causes the oil and coolant to mix together, so I replaced it for $40

I'm just trying stop the bad smell from under the hood whenever the engine is running
@TheParrottBros Жыл бұрын
That is quite a common one, often it is the rocker gasket leaking oil Down onto the exhaust manifold which is what gives you that smoke/smell from the engine

My curiosity is telling me why don’t we just use generic metal aluminum non return valve to replace those plastic valves ? Any one any body can tell me that we can use metal non return valve instead of plastic valve that’s prone to fail without warning , because it has been happening to my TT 225 BAM Thank you:)
@TheParrottBros3 жыл бұрын
If you can get them then yes, the diaphragm will still be made out of something that’s not metal I’m sure tho
