As a NYer, you guys were spot on with your assessment. 1) A NYC bagel with lox and cream cheese is an absolutely transformative experience. 2) Katz's pastrami is a splurge but worth the price 3) Places like Nom Wah are overpriced hype (you're really just paying for the ambience of the street and feeling like you're on a movie set). 4) You were also right on with Magnolia's pudding - good, but totally overpriced. 5) Same with the cheesecake being overpriced and way too small! 6) dollar pizza is hit or miss but that one looked pretty bad. 7) As for Halal, that's hit or miss too, but every one ALWAYS has the red sauce that's unbearably hot! Everyone's made that mistake once of thinking it might be like regular hot sauce but just a single drop will ruin your whole meal. Great video, you've got yourself a new subscriber and fan!
@PurtyPurple10 ай бұрын
The moment I saw them hold up that dollar pizza and it was stiff like cardboard I knew it would be trash XD Edit: I agree completely with your assessments. I find the main problem with food here is usually not that it's bad, just bad value for the price.
@yanied9646Ай бұрын
Instead of Nom Wah, you might have to settle for Joe's Shanghai or go to Brooklyn or Queens... It's odd but there are some decent places in SI, I think? And if you have the time, I guess Edison over in NJ might work.

2:33 "New York, I want to do tumaywah" - Alessio 2022. NYC is the land of many cultures. It is estimated that around 800 languages are spoken in the city, so NYC is bound to have something for everyone. And when in doubt, have a pickle. Not eating a pickle is a crime against society Alessio really showed his inner French purist with this one by being appalled by something that's croissant-like that isn't in the shape of a croissant.

I love the fact that they are in one of the most diverse culinary places of the world and still nothing compares to the South. I loved my trips to NYC and I made it a point to dine out at places that were nothing like what I had in my small town in NC. I came to the same conclusions. Nothing compares to the home cooks of the South in particular, but our restaurants can also outshine NYC as well.

Agreed. If you’re going to go to a dim sum place, get egg rolls and pan fried/veggie dumplings then you’re in the wrong place. Dim sum is Shrimp Har Gow, Pork Xiu Mai, Shrimp or beef rice paper rolls, turnip pan fried cake… otherwise, go to a dumpling place for those.

As an old school Born and Bred New Yorker, my two cents... - Lox and Cream Cheese = Yes, classic New York - French Toast bagel with birthday cake cream cheese. Just like your Italian husband. As a New Yorker, "No, just no" :( - Pastrami on Rye or Corned Beef on Rye from Katz's = Yes! Classic New York! :) - New York does have great Chinese food though. Woo Hop (legend) and Joe's Shanghi (newer legend) - 99 cent Pizza scares New Yorkers too - Cronut was just a trendy gimmick. Not classic New York. New York does have amazing bakeries - Magnolia Bakery just got famous because of Sex and the City, not so much because of its food. It's not a landmark for New Yorkers. It's a landmark for tourists. $5 is cheap for New York. You're paying their rent too when you go to these places. Dominique Ansel Bakery is more of a landmark for New Yorkers. - Cheesecake. Most New Yorkers eat cheesecake at a diner or local bakery. Junior's in Brooklyn is good too. $7-$9 is average. New York real estate is expensive. - New York Hot Dogs. There are Four ways. 1) From a cart with onions (it's not raw onions, It's in a light tomato/paprika sauce), 2) from a Kosher Deli (sauerkraut and mustard). 3) Nathan's, 4) Gray's Papaya. - Halal Food Cart food is not traditional New York. They just popped everywhere these days. So nice you guys gave the food to the homeless man

Try out Razza Pizza Artiginale in Jersey City and Fiore Deli of Hoboken in Hoboken. Casa Della Mozzarella Italian Deli in the Bronx is really good too. Halal street cart food is so good, glad u had some, u can get it less spicy next time

You should try the pizza next to Casa de la Mozzarella. Also, have a cappuccino at Frank’s bakery and some pignoli cookies. Will make Alessio feel like he’s back home.

You're in the wrong borough for pizza. L &B Spumoni Gardens in Brooklyn. ONLY GET THE SICILIAN PIZZA. You will go mad, it's amazing.
