I think the grout should be the same colour. With all the foot traffic, white would soon not be white. Another skill you've passed on to Ryan today. He is a quick learner!

I have the same color travertine in my front hall and around my fireplace and I went with the same color grout as the travertine and it looks great! The grout lines are visible but do not stand out, allowing the tiles themselves to stand out. So I agree, the same colour.

Agree, as someone who has deliberated over grout colour sample books for months, the closest match always seems to look the smartest unless going for a contrast look. What great progress, will be a stunning kitchen.

In a kitchen where a lot of grease, grime, and life happens, it’s important to go with the same color grout that will match the tiles. A white grout would look dingy, dirty, and gross before you know it. It is going to be beautiful!!❤❤❤❤

Looks like ‘same color grout’ is winning hands down, and I would agree. The beautiful travertine floor would be enhanced with no competing white grout. Congratulations on the impressive progress in your ongoing restoration of this convent project!

You’re doing a fabulous job! Advice on grout. My husband put in the same tile in my kitchen. Please don’t go with white. White absorbs all grease and dirt and is a pain to clean up. My husband chose a color closer to the tile and i loved it and i think it was better not to have the contrast in color aesthetically. The tile is so gorgeous on its own. Just breathtakingly beautiful once it’s sealed.
@inShortOrder111 Жыл бұрын
Agree that white may not be the best color. You don't need to have a color that matches exactly - but something with less contrast. Maybe a color that "matches" the dark accent tiles.

I have to agree with everyone who has said not to go with white grouting for the floor. It stains and discoloration happen over time, even with the best attempts to keep it looking clean and pristine. A darker grout that is closer to the color of the tiles will look great and make it much easier to keep the floors looking clean.

Billy, I've had experience with tile floors all of my life (70). Whatever you choose, don't pick a light color. It will look dirty as soon as their is walk-thru traffic. I think your grout should match the dark inner triangle tile on the floor. Believe me, that would be the best color selection for years to come.

@michellemacinnis9921 Жыл бұрын
I vote for a darker colour grout , similar to the smaller grey/black tiles. This would hide dirt, but also give more definition to the tiles- that would be lost if the grout is the same colour as the beige tiles. It would also highlight the border you have going around the room- right now it looks a bit like your diamond pattern just sort of ends- and the darker grout would make it make more sense. Oh- hey, maybe just within the border the grout is the same beigey color, so the tiles look like one continuous stone border. But surrounding the border is the dark grey grout. I hope that makes sense! I'm a designer who loves interior design. I can quickly mock something up in photoshop and send it to you if you want to get an idea of what it'll look like.

And with all the other comments, I offer more of the same. My thoughts are that: White is very stark. Billy, rose-pink for the top?? Are you sure? Why don't you try to fit the color with the blue-grey square of the tiles after they are sealed (to make the perfect fit). Rose-grey for a kitchen is going to be quiet disturbing... It's expensive and you are not going to change the top next year. Make a great safe choice to fit perfectly with the kitchen. If you don't like the option of the blue-grey square try a sort of beige-creamy-ivory, it's going to be chic, classic and very good looking for your kitchen with the oak, I promess you (the best choice in my point of view). Keep two choices of colors and ask us, why not? Have a good day. Your kitchen is going to be amazing. 🌟

About the grout Billy, maybe not stark white but just a shade darker than the tile color itself. It, I think, it will make it appear “ aged “ as it would and should look. Are you also going to have a a commercial dishwasher that would handle the larger volume of dishes you'll likely need to wash during large events? Even my church has one of those. The glasses and plates can be stacked in wire trays that slide into it and can be stacked atop one another.

I think that kitchen would look very historic if the fireplace could be left as is, with a very large hanging cauldron and cooking andirons on the side - or whatever an 1800s cooking fireplace would look like - it would be a beautiful historic look. The actual cooking stove could be customized to fit in the center island for convenience. Or, perhaps the fireplace could have a rotisserie spit to roast large pieces of meat to accommodate the big numbers of guests that will be staying or visiting, the hotel, weddings, banquet nights etc. etc. The kitchen will really be a focal point for any restaurant use and the more it accommodates a chef, the better. I think you showed a bread oven outside, or Pizza oven - same thing? For a separate eatery feature with picnic or bistro tables and chairs - for customers to roam the gardens and enjoy outside pizza and beer. My business imagination runs wild with all the potentials of that beautiful building. I love everything you are doing. Very exciting!

Same color as the floor will be less distracting and a better aesthetic overall. Think of the tiles in the chapel. Adding a "tea" stain made a mass improvement, blending the lovely tiles with the beautiful rich wood. I would also suggest using a cream/tan marble for the counter tops. Or something darker, if its contrast you are looking for. Can't picture rose/cream. Just a thought. 😊
