I love the contrast between Sonic and Shadow by looking into their eyes. Sonic’s eyes are filled with kindness, innocence, and curiosity while Shadow’s eyes radiate anger, hatred, and pain. You can feel the repressed anger within Keanu Reeves from watching the only person who cared about him being killed.

15:53 I have a slightly different theory. What if Gerald extended his lifespan? What if, due to his obsessive grief over Maria, he still secretly worked on a cure to terminal illness and used it to stop aging? It may be why he's stuck this way. He's still full of bitterness, and he's still going ahead with his plans. But he wants to be alive to see the world pay for wronging him and his granddaughter. He could be jokey here, but we all know that traumatized characters try to joke to hide their pain initially. This could potentially be a plot where you see Gerald's sense of humor slowly unravel until he does become truly angry and insane, which could honestly explain the "script sent by angels written in gold ink" that Jim Carrey was talking about.

My gut for this one still tells me that robotnik will end up building metal sonic with that quill he gets. It makes sense, both because fans have been wanting that sleek machine for ages and because it's not a sure thing they'll get carrey back for a fourth one. Curving into metal and stone working together would make a lot of sense there - assuming we don't get him as an antagonist in this one.

When I first saw the trailer for Sonic Movie 3, I was blown away with how great it looked. Shadow’s movie design looks amazing. The tone feels more dark and serious which fits for Shadow and his backstory. And Jim Carrey returning as Dr. Robotnik is great to see. I’ll be honest, I was initially a little worried about Keanu Reeves being cast as Shadow. No offense to Keanu. I just haven’t heard his voice enough to gauge if he was a good fit. But after this trailer, I’m sold on him playing Shadow. Overall, I’m super excited to go watch this film later this December.

That history is likely the reason were getting Shadow right now in the first place. He wants to be the one to bring Shadow to the big screen while he's still the director. I've guessed that was the case for awhile and it's only felt more confirmed as more stuff has come out. Infact that was why I was really holding out hope for Jason Grifith or even David Humphrey to come back as Shadow. Like he still kept their numbers around and contacted them. Anyways since Jeff Fowler was that passionate about it I've had next to no doubts about this movie, that kind of passion always leads to good results.

Here’s my guess with Gerald Robotnik. One is that he froze himself with Shadow and acts more innocent to Shadow and Robotnik so they would work with him. If he was mad then why would Robotnik work with him. Two is that he time travelled and the same what he did with Shadow and Robotnik. It could also if they want to have Silver be in the 4th film with the time travel plot.

Honestly, something I'm actually more interested in seeing than Shadow is hopefully seeing Sonic get genuinely angry. Like, we haven't really seen Sonic get really mad often in the games, mostly just in the Archie Comics. But the moment Sonic gritted out "what did you do?" And the look of actual *rage* on Sonic's face gives me chills and really makes me hope that they'll have Sonic go through an arc where he starts going down the same path Shadow is going down. I don't think they'll actually kill Tom like some people have been saying. But I hope that they do something that involves Sonic thinking Tom was killed, Sonic getting enraged (Dark Sonic??), and how Sonic gets out of it.

Sonic in the games doesn't get angry rather than just annoyed at Eggman since he sees him as just a nuisance who makes life more interesting since he has adventures to do that way. Movie Sonic is written like a Marvel/DCEU movie protagonist with shades of E.T. so him getting a scenario like in OP could happen yeah.

The year of Shadow is still going strong. This will be SEGA's best selling year ever. Shadow Gens and Sonic 3, we've never been so back! Also, imagine when Shadow's escapes prison Island, imagine its a whole ass prison escape sequence like Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda. That would be so raw! But probably not a high chance of that happening. Anyways, hopefully the Sonic series keeps going up this strong and keep on improving and never stop. And hopefully after the movies we might get another Sonic anime. Sonic, keep going strong! Edit: Shadow still has beef with 8-year old Tails to this day since Sonic X! and hopefully they show a little girl getting shot in this film!

an idea that just popped into my head is that maybe, in this universe, gerald was able to finish project shadow and reach GUN's objective of developing immortality, making himself immortal in the process. this would shift around a lot of story elements, but maybe then GUN would begin pressuring gerald to shut down the ark, and he wouldn't want to because he'd still be working on shadow and a cure for maria, and that's when the whole incident would happen

I think that Knuckles getting completely cooked in a second by Shadow was probably because he was caught off guard. Let’s be real knuckles saw Shadow and said that he was a much more impressive version of Sonic but he probably still thought that shadow wasn’t going to be much of a threat so because of that he didn’t try that hard. You can back this up because in the Knuckles show and the 2nd movie, you can see that whenever Knuckles really wants someone dead he will punch his fists together and he will have red eyes and glow a little bit, he didn’t have that in the little time he was in the trailer so I’m sure that now he knows how strong shadow is, he’ll be more prepared next time they meet and will put up more of a fight

While I think the hallucination idea is fine, it’s worth noting shadow says”when WE’RE done, their won’t be anything left,”my personal theory is that Gerald used technology to somehow keep himself alive, I think eggman will initially team up with Gerald which is probably why team sonic is tied up but once he learns of his true intention to destroy earth,he’ll have one of those”don’t meet your hero moments” and betray him alongside shadow, who will be conflicted because he believes humanity is evil and irredeemable, but now that ideology is being turned against him, yes I think Gerald will be the true villain working with shadow. I don’t think they’ll make him a joke, from the looks of it he’s just Jim Carrey but older, he’ll be comedic but menacing, like father like son(or papa whatever). As for there not being a biolizard, I don’t think that’s really an issue, the sonic movies have kinda struggled with the balance between original and game faithfulness, sonic 1 was purely original, while sonic 2 was almost purely game plot, which kinda ruined the suspense for me as I somewhat knew what was gonna happen, sonic 3 looks like a nice balance of each, sure no biolizard or framed sonic but cmon guys, this is still a all-around audience movie and while they should have fanservice, they still need to keep it fresh and not lean too far, like it’d be weird for non game players for them to suddenly show the biolizard and Gerald be like”this is my featureless giant lizard with life support that I made to end humanity” that’s a little too outlandish, it worked for Mario because the movie isn’t a big story, it’s just a love letter to the franchise and was very clearly towards fans. The sonic movies are trying to have a balance and that would feel too sudden and random. But that’s just my thoughts.

Gerald is *still* Ivo's grandfather. If you listen closely he calls him "pop-pop" which is an informal alternative for grandpa.

Here’s my take on Gerald: I think the reason he’s alive… is because he’s immortal… Hear me out… The reason Gerald made shadow in the first place was because he wanted to cure Maria of her fatal disease. So what if instead of making The Biolizard, he made him self capable of living a longer life span than normal (or like I said immortal) so that he could continue to work on shadow for as long as he needed. Now let’s add my theory to your list of analysis’ of the trailer. The scene with what looks to be The ARK. That could honestly be The ARK because if you look closely, you can see Eggman’s face on it. Plus the scene with the black hole, that could honestly be near the end of the second act where Shadow starts to reform and the doctors decide to betray team Sonic and trap them along with shadow and summon a black hole. After all, what’s scarier than one maniacal genius? TWO maniacal geniuses. Maybe they’ll use the chaos emeralds to make the black hole and reactivate the ARK. So their betrayal will cause Shadow to join forces with Sonic to stop the doctors. And with the knowledge of both doctors, and the quill Sonic gave to Eggman from the deal they made. The two doctors create one of Sonic’s greatest and deadliest foes… Metal Sonic, and he will be the stand in for The Biolizard. And I can picture the final battle to where, Sonic and Shadow go super to take on Metal Sonic, while Knuckles and Tails handle doctors. And of course, Live and Learn would be playing while the final battle happens. But remember, this is just my theory. So don’t take this as literal. I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring.

I have a feeling metal sonic will be in the second half of the movie, as in sonic 2 we had 2 villains, knuckles and then the other half being for egg man. What if shadow is the first half, then they team up to fight metal sonic. I mean, Eggmam finally getting the fur of sonic, and Gerald coincidentally is also there? If I have to guess how much Sonic 3 is making, I would say around $500M for a couple of reasons: 1. The Sonic movies don’t earn that much at the Box Office despite becoming hits (Sonic 1 made around $320M while Sonic 2 made around $405M, which leads me to guessing Sonic 3 will make around $500M.) 2. It’s going up against Mufasa, which is a prequel to the 2019 live action Lion King that made around $1.6B. 3. Disney has been making a comeback at the Box Office ever since they released Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine

When knuckles went to hug chief pachicamak( sorry for butchering how you spell that), he phased right through him because the guy was a ghost. They also didn't know Shadow, even though they seem to know most of the people in the other clans, especially if they're that strong. But seeing how Shadow was basically stowed away, and only people really knew about him, it's easy for Tails and others not to know who he is. Meaning, to the best of their knowledge, Knuckles was the best warrior in the galaxy.

There’s so much to love about these films and shadow being as awesome in this trailer as he is needs to be shown how overpowered he is and how much of a threat he is. It's pretty strange Jim Carrey is playing both Ivo *&* Gerald Robotnik. I get that they both look pretty damn similar to each other with their bald head and long mustache and all but... Guys, They're completely different characters! They don't have that much in common characterization-wise. Months ago, I was kinda hoping for an actor like *Bryan Cranston* would take on this role cuz he somewhat shares similar comedic beats to Jim Carrey (Malcom in the Middle) while also having a sense seriousness and dreaded-weight in his acting chops. (Breaking Bad) A role like Gerald Robotnik would've been right up his ally. But hey, who knows, maybe Jim Carrey can actually make it all work. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have a theory. I think Gerald put himself into stasis and Shadow woke him, which is why he's still alive. His more jovial personality could be him putting on an act for Robotnik to manipulate him over to their side; classic sociopath behavior. Meanwhile, Gerald is manipulating Shadow this whole time to achieve his revenge, and when Shadow has his heel-face turn (possibly due to regaining his memories), that's when Gerald awakens the Biolizard.

David Humphery and Jason Grifith yes, Kirk Thorton hell no he's easily the worst one to voice Shadow. He sounded way too much like a guy pretending to be deep and edgy it sucked all the nuance out of Shadow. Now in Sonic x shadow from what we're hearing yes he seems to be pulling back on that and giving a more natural performance which is really great I'll give props for that, however he still remains the weakest one for the time being. Keanu sounds more believable as Shadow in just the few trailer lines than Kirk throughout the entire time he's voiced Shadow before the newest game.

I think the explanation for Gerald being alive and acting the way he does is that he went insane after Maria died and went down a similar path to Robotnik. And to be fair, Gerald's death and speech were pretty dark in the game; Maria already died, and to do another dark death might be too much of a risk. So, they probably kept Gerald alive and had him work with Shadow to not worry too much about people thinking it was too dark.

About Gerald Robotnic, here's a fun fact: I'm from Poland, and in the trailer durring the part, where Eggman meets Gerald, these lines at the very end: EGGMAN: Papa... GERALD: In the seggy (or saggy, idk) flesh. Are replaced with these (in translation): EGGMAN: It's really you... GERALD: Come here and hug your daddy. So maybe, just MAYBE... Gerald in the movie won't be either Ivo' and Maria' grandfather, nor will he be a hallucination... but actually thier father🤯 Sure, it could had just been a mistranslation from english dub, but.. what if🤔🤔🤔
