I've just stumbled upon your KZbin channel, showed it to my husband and he told me that he'd "known" you for quite some time! He said that you two are Facebook friends! I'm so super jealous of your beautiful Red River Valley garden! Your varieties sound so interesting and I would like to expand to include some of them! Thank you for posting such a lovely tour of your garden!!

Wow this sure is a stunning garden! I wish I could have my own, it seems like a lot of fun to grow your own produce! Everything here is great, love it and thanks for taking us along!

I started in a small backyard jamming stuff together. I have 170 acres now and spacing really does make all the difference. I basically double the suggested spacing on most crops now. Insect pressure is basically non-existent in comparison. Yields are much higher as well. I mean MUCH higher.

I am a new subscriber, going to try your Seitan recipe. I am not surprised you have garden, it makes me respect you that much more. I have gardened on and off with family for all my life. My own goal is to turn my yard into a food forest and your videos seemingly expanded my horizons on cooking. Out of curiosity, have you heard of a channel called Canadian Permaculture Legacy? He also has as a garden, a ‘food forest’. Probably in similar zone up there too, since he is Zone 4, I know in ND has that zone and the summers are short, because my friends live up there complain to me how relatively short the summers are lmao 🤣. Greetings from New Mexico and may you live long and prosper! 🖖

Wanting to start a garden and have recently moved to North Dakota! So this video is great to see the potential fruits and vegetables that I can grow!!! What do you do in the winter time with the harsh weather
@ThePotThickens2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Welcome to ND. Yes, the winters can be long and cold. But we have beautiful long summer days. Are you in Fargo? Please let me know if you have any questions.

How much land do you have ? Your garden is so awesome !!! You must spend a ton of time working on it. I have a small garden that has only done ok this year. We have had so much hot weather here and it has really hurt my garden. I’m amazed at how mint different things you are growing in your garden. I can’t believe your fry there and still doing so well.

I have about 12 acres and ~1/2 acre of vegetable garden. It’s a lot of work. I have been spending hours watering because we are in a drought.

Do you have any pests and how do you deal with them? Do you get vine borers in your squashes at all? Lastly, how do you find cross-pollinated breeds like the cucumbers you showed here, are they always tasty?
@ThePotThickens3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have some pests. Fortunately no squash vine borers. I have Colorado potato beetles. I’ve been able to manage that. I also have a lot of flea beetles that do damage to any greens I try to grow. The cucumbers are delicious.

Woah so much growth since the livestream I saw! do you tend all those beautiful plants yourself? and if so does it feel a bit overwhelming to upkeep and harvest at the right time? it seems like you have close to an acre of garden. P.S. lemme know how the san marzanos turn out, I've always wanted to grow some to cook with
@ThePotThickens3 жыл бұрын
Yes, growing fast. And it has grown even more in the last week or so since I recorded that. I have been busy so some of the veggies have overgrown. But it is nice to have food available for the picking. The San Marzanos are just coming now. They started out with a lot of small tomatoes and blossom end rot, but the larger ones are now starting to ripen. The plants are huge and the production looks like it will be high. I’ll let you know how the flavor and texture is. So far so good.
