I'm a Black woman and I have friends who are constantly saying "well, misgendering is like saying the n-word" which is like if that's the case, then you don't arrest people for that except in instances of inciting violence. Amazing work and conversation. I also really appreciate the calm and reasoned grace Ellen demonstrated under pressure. My peak trans moment came very much in a similar way to hers. So grateful for all these voices speaking up. It took me weeks of hovering on the periphery the GWL podcast, afraid that even selecting it would set off the bells of cancelation. It's been 3 years of looking more deeply, and I am so relieved not to be alone (or a hateful, despicable, crazy bigot!).

Several such groups have formed here in the Northeast, and are growing! Being a Democrat might be a problem though, and here's why: Our Democrat party has been hijacked by a moderate-sized group of vocal radical woke leftists, and MANY younger folks are loving it. Sadly, moderate or mainstream Dems in MUCH of congress have chosen to lean radical to maintain 'party unity'. I'm hoping you all see this as well. The battle is real. Just a couple days ago, NCAA coach Dawn Staley was asked about "trans" and while she had the opportunity to stand up against this injustice, she stuck to the party line. My wife plays Womrns roller derby. Her team lost a regional tournament to the Texas team who had two biological Males as their lead players (jammers). They share locker and changing rooms. My wife is afraid to speak out as she will get totally attacked, and she just wants to play and have fun, so she stays silent. If a biological male hurts her I will not know what I could do...but it won't be pretty.

We have to chip away at the public perception that "gender" is an inborn part of a person. So long as that premise stands, the "born this way" argument will always win the public debate. That's the public side. As far as pressuring legislators goes, we need to find interest convergence. Find the institutional leaders they depend on, and sway those leaders to our side by offering them some kind of payout. Once legislators' see their campaign infrastructure abandoning them, they will come to the table to hear our demands.

I found it very interesting that the Republicans present sat silent and did not object to the Totalitarian tactics of Ms Gonzales. It’s complicated, because while the SSN doesn’t change, there are many circumstances where the SSN isn’t used. So you have a criminal with a new name and sex marker, filling out forms and profiles that don’t require a SSN. That sounds like a recipe for trouble.

The courts can use whatever language they want but apparently you want to dictate what they can say. The prefix "cis-" comes from Latin and means "on the same side as" or "of". It's another approach and not meant to be derogatory. "Natal" is another word one can say but if I say "natal male" you'll say that I'm repetitive in my point and my language doesn't make sense and is incoherent. The point is that you want to make any language regarding transgender folks unallowable legally. Fundamentalist Christians have done this in the past by not naming a sin like being gay. It gives on an identity to cling to and they want to "break these bonds". I know you are a feminist and you've already got burned this week in Arizona. Wait until folks like the Claremont Institute start lobbying to disallow licensure of women in to the professions.
