When my husband was actively drinking and gambling I had to go against Dave's advice and separate the money. I wasn't going to achieve the financial goals I wanted if my husband had access to the money I was making. Now that he's sober he's can think much clearer and be apart of the discussion. Sometimes having separate accounts as a married couple isn't a bad thing.

Tammy, start quizzin' em about how they feel about money on the 3rd date!! (They don't have to know that's what you're doin'😁). Just ask them: "What are your short-term goals? Long-term goals? Credit score?" If they feel offended, they're not for you. Ask them "What's an asset?" If you get a blank look.. move on, they're not ready. On the 4th date, ask a guy/girl to bring their BUDGET to the date. If they balk, or don't have one.. you'll save both of y'all a lot of wasted time. You really should be listening to everything they say & also what they DON'T say, to see what's NOT important to them; if they never mention spirituality UNLESS YOU DO😂..

Two weeks ago I bought my first ever nice car (Benz GLE 350, 2016 model). Looks like new with low miles and got it for half the original price. Paid all cash so no payments. But it happened after sacrifice, cleaning debts, saving money and living way below our means. There is a time for everything and if you really want something then be ready to make sacrifices. Next step is buying a house, already enough money saved for 20% down payment but I want to save some more so that I can make about 40% down so that my monthly payment is low for mortgage.
