Dave is a little out of touch with entry level wages. He thinks uber and door dash are quick money, while $20-25 is exuberant... reality about gigs like doordash and uber is they barely break even once you factor in depreciation, maintenance and running costs, doing it short term is basically just a laborious way to get a short term loan from your vehicle. In Boston, $25/hr is probably about the minimum for it to even be worth consuming your clock credits.

He's a truck driver going through what most dry van guys go through, minimum industry income. He needs to get a tanker endorsement, hazmat endorsement and a twic card. This will make him more valuable to more companies. Chemical haulers, neumatic haulers, grocery stores, petroleum ECT. Walmart is paying 90-100k for drivers right now. No hours being cut, they have to sign deals with mega carriers to fulfill their daily demand. Also, as a driver, only buy your food at a grocery store or supercenter like Walmart. Prep meals and cook. Buy snacks with your normal groceries. Avoid the truck stops, convent stores food delivery and restaurants. Next to gas, this is the biggest variable bill, budget for it and keep it low.

I like Economics Explained - not exactly investment focused, but they cover so many economic things that hook right in to investing, gaining an understanding of all that is bound to help on an investing journey. When starting out investing... just dump money burning a hole in your wallet in the SPY. (Or equivalent) Warren Buffet likes the SPY for someone that doesn't yet know how to invest. ;) Roughly half of the SPY's earnings are global, and it's the 500 biggest companies - instant mega diversification.

Many yrs back i did this tithing thing. And God actually did come thru. It was so random too. Alot of things started to happen that involed me making extra finances and i wasnt even looking for it, i just listened to the person who told me the reason why i gave it a shot all from a good heart and bam lol God did his thing. I guess because i helped the church🤷🏻♂️ Definitely would recommend it i tried it so i can't knock it.
