"You can't let ignorant people make your decisions for you and set up the boundaries by which you run your life" YES, Dave.YES. You are 100% correct! Too many people allow this and it sets them up to be victims their whole life. Every person on Earth has their own challenges to overcome. That's just life. It's what you do in the face of the challenges that determines your outcome. If you want mediocrity, then keep being a victim. If you want more than that, change your mindset to someone who has abundance and gratitude in their life and who will be resourceful and work hard and sacrifice their wants and instant gratification for the bigger picture. The great thing about changing your own mindset is that everyone has this power. And it's amazing how God makes a way for those who help themselves.

I have to say, my husband and I were HIGHLY disappointed by the event in Indianapolis. We got there early and we’re immediately told there were no seats left (there was at least 100 people standing behind us in line too) and told we could watch it on a TV outside. I said I would like a refund if we have to watch in the screen and they said no. They said they could probably get us in somewhere to see the event and so I stood, pregnant, packed in like sardines in a spot in the very back where we could not see in any way. I clarified with someone after why that happened and they said Ramsey just sold as many tickets as they could regardless of capacity. We were not offered any sort of money back and will not be attending any other events. Sadly we were very excited for this and didn’t get to watch at all!

Im READY to be debt free. Got myself a part time job and a raise. I'll be working 60 hrs a week for the next year. I've been here before but every time I throw money at my car payments, something happened to screw me over more than 1k could cover. I totaled one and was left with no car and no savings, and the next one had a recall on the engine that the dealer and manufacturer wouldn't acknowledge until it was too late. Again, no car, no savings, so I couldn't get to work from a rural area. This time I am doing it again, but I will have 1k emergency fund AND be one month ahead on all my expenses, so I feel more secure throwing every cent at the debt, knowing I can eat and have a roof over my head for the next month and a half. I wonder if Dave or anyone else following the baby steps ever thought to add this step in there?

I remember how painful, ashamed and downtrodden I was, flitting between wanting to pay my debt and file bankruptcy. This played in my head for lots of painful months. I prayed on my knees and in my heart wrenching with my decisions. I eventually came to the conclusion to honor my debt. Shortly after that, God released and settled an Irs thing and started to get clear of the debt, not mortgage (death grip), and became free of debt. Closed all cards and walked free of financial obligations. It was long, painful, and hard. Sometimes humility is required.

That is not true about insurance companies and checks being written. Many Many People in Lee County are not getting any money from their insurance to repair their homes post Ian. Even lawyers are not having success, it is a disaster. Also, many of the insurance companies are just totaling people’s homes when there is not structural damage because they are now a 30 year old home. Insurance companies are raising insurance premiums to well over 8000$ a year on simple homes that sustained no damage and claimed nothing. Only people who are mortgage free can opt out of insurance until the price gouging stops.

@22:30 - How many millionaires in your study have small businesses? And how many of those business owners had to take out loans, I.e. debt to get their businesses going or to keep them afloat? Mr Ramsey is correct that consumer debt is bad, but leveraging debt for assets & investing into businesses is a reality of life.

I believe the information you're looking for can be found on the Ramsey website - I think they've mentioned that several times in the past x
@tcgtpl Жыл бұрын
@@kaelaleedaley I’ve heard Mr Ramsey reference this study many times before. While I agree with his fundamentals of wealth building (live below your means, invest for the long term) he really reads too much into the study & makes conclusions that are weak at best and misrepresentations at worst. For example, saying that millionaires didn’t get wealthy because of credit card rewards. Well, no one is saying that. Many people use credit cards responsibly, and the perks help to extend the purchasing power of the money you do spend, like using coupons when grocery shopping.
