I'm sorry you had bad experiences. I agree that people shouldn't be pressured to go to therapy. Pressure will just lead to negative consequences. However I understand that relatives or friends who don't have any knowledge on certain issues and therapies feel helpless, lost, scared and really just want you to get better. Especially someone with anxiety will have such a tough time finding (the right) therapy. If it's really impacting their life then it's really important for them to have a good support system to get them through this. In my opinion, someone who needs therapy should first analyse themselves in detail and see what exactly they need therapy for and what kind of therapy will actually help them. I have some bad experiences recently with health professionals and I came to the conclusion that generally the system is very flawed because the professionals I dealt with always go through a checklist instead of actually being present and understanding. I also am really annoyed that old school therapies are broadly available and there so little alternative therapies available that would help a broad range of individuals. For example for autism ABA is so common but it's so rigid and can be so toxic but therapies like the floortime approach are so hard to come by. It really breaks my heart thinking of kids who suffer because they get the wrong kind of therapy and parents are not aware of it and just helpless and lost themselves.

Sometimes the best therapy is the unspoken type.

Ah I resonated a lot with this video. I always have this intention to go to therapy but, yeah, there are waiting lists and I want to find the right therapist and so on. But also I've had people demand I go, saying they won't stop bugging me until I go: these people being, well, certain toxic people who were more doing it for their own ends, I guess I won't go into it too much. But also, yeah - therapy to me sounds very beneficial, but it's strange when people weaponise it against others, it's very good. And also, it's so often used against people who are trying to open up to someone. I remember being young and opening up to one or two people and immediately being shot down with 'I'm not your therapist', which was hurtful. I guess I learned to open up to more trusted people, though. And yeah, boundaries are important but so is compassion.

@@vondelpete hmm yeah i wish you good luck with the therapy situation, it isn't easy. It's awful that people bugged you to go to therapy and being shut down about talking about things more intimately. Thanks for the comment!

Honestly I think this just boils down to people need to learn how to mind their own business. They always got their nose all up in something. Like, yes they want to help but trying to force what you want on somebody is not helping them. Let people handle their problems and their lives the way they feel they need to.

Hi Ingrid, Thanks Ingrid for such interesting and sensitive topic. I'm glad you talked about this. I even can say one may not go because simply therapist can't help! It may seem strange but it's real especially if you have a weird combination of life consequences especially if they can't change laws and stuff... I have never considered and I probably won't consider saying to friend they should go to therapy. It's not something I feel I can say especially that it may come across as harmful to them. I can only provide a listening ear and try to be kind to them. Talking about suicide can be really very sensitive... Once again thank you very much for taking the time to speak about such very sensitive and very important topic. We need more compassion and yes therapy is not magic and it may not work. Thanks Ingrid, you are a kind lovely person, I'm glad I find you 😊 PS: By the way for everyone going through a very tough time who is reading my comment for whatever reason, my thoughts and heart go to you, you are the only person who know what works for you please do stick to being yourself it can be extremely hard but I hope you will go pass it. Sending you hugs and wish you all the best in life. You are worth it.

@@sicparvismagna1294 thanks for writing! Yes these are sensitive topics and i don't want to discourage people from getting therapy if they feel it will help, but i rarely see content about therapy not always being right. There us a lot of shaming online and in life that if therapy doesn't work, it must be that the person "is not putting enough effort in" when really it is way more complex than that. I'm sorry, i wish i knew what to say about your situation. It is hard, but you are doing a good job staying alive and being a good person 😊

Thanks for writing back! I totally understand and I don't want discourage people from getting help either. I only wanted to say that it's also valid that therapy may not work for some people because I feel this is not something is enough talked about especially that it can be rare and some people may find it very isolating and alienating to not able to relate. Yes my situation is very hard and I don't know what to do about it too... yes staying alive can be sometimes really exhausting... Thanks for your kind words 😊
