@@Tennisnerd The fact that you have the balls to try a racquet in a tournament situation is something that seperates you from other reviewers. To me this is a big factor with choosing a racquet. You can hit really well with a new racquet for 30 mins with no pressure. But will it be better or worse than your current racquet under match pressure? This can be especially true for heavy racquets, they give you that plow through but can you swing it well when late in the 3rd set of your 3 hour tennis match in the heat? Lastly, i'm a little surprised you didn't mention the Head Boom Pro as a direct competitor to the VCORE 98 Tour, it is the only other raquet with this type of square shouldered head shape and it has a similar weight.

Love my Tour's...switched over from the regular 98's. Awesome spin (and somewhat surprisingly power), great stability and plow-through while still moving quickly through the air.

What's the difference between 98? High launch angle really annoyed me and that's why I switched to Pure Aero 2023 and Tecnifibre Tempo 298.
@The4.0Guy2 ай бұрын
@@cekinekshn The weight gives you some bigger first serves and forehands, a little better to volley with. The launch angle is the same so its no better in that regard. I also struggled with the launch angle on volleys and half volleys especially but it gives me free topspin on my too flat forehand so i'm still trying to make it work 😂

Switched from RF97 autograph to this one a couple months ago. Took some time to get used to the more flexible racquet, but it’s so much easier to swing than the RF. Easier to generate a forehand cross court angle with this than the RF because it’s a lot faster.

I thought I loved my Vcore 95, and then I added weight to it...and wow it feels so much nicer. helps you get some depth on the flatter shots, making it easier to put away points when the opponent makes a mistake. I think it's for the exact reason you said about the racquet feeling a bit flimsy the more off-center you hit the ball

If it helps people, I'll say that lots of folks on the Tennis Warehouse forums have experimented with trying to bring the regular 98 to Tour specs but they all agree this is really difficult and that the Tour feels a lot more natural as itself. I've played with both, though mostly the Tour. The regular was just too low in swingweight for me so I immediately knew I'd be customizing. After looking at what other people did, it sounded like the shortest and easiest path was to just go for the Tour since any additional customization would be much smaller. So I got a Tour and it's been solid. Only issue (and this is the same for all the VDM sticks) is the feel, which I couldn't really get into. Eventually ended up with the Percept 97D and it's been racket bliss ever since.
@Tennisnerd2 ай бұрын
Yeah, not so easy to get the regular one up to the specs of the Tour. The Percept 97D is a good choice

i found it really launchy (normal 98 weighted to tour specs) there was another review that compared 98 weighted and tour side by side and tour was better... the 98 was just so launchy with string movement at the top being a LOT.... how is the tour? its fine if its consistently launchy, but inconsistent launch was an issue. stiffer strings seems to help a lot (tour bite)

Is the stringbed same as the regular 98,meaning stiff and weird, difficult to get it right? Been playing with vcores over 2 years eventually sold others and only kept the 100 2023 due to awkward string bed on both 98s. Switched to percept 100d customised to 340stw 330sw...

@Lucian862 ай бұрын
Not tempted....too heavy for me...I originally bought a 98L as I need speed on my swing. Eventually it was indeed a bit unstable so I added some weigh to pretty much match a regular 98... not going up more. I also have a 95 which is quite heavy as well but I use it mostly in friendly matches and sometimes in tournaments when I need more control. It is however the best racket in terms of feeling I have ever tried
