I think when most people say "gender is a social construct" they more often mean gender ROLES are a social construct, e.g. women cook and fold laundry, and men are breadwinners. there is no biological or inherent reason a man shouldn't cook or be worse than a woman at cooking or folding clothes. Women can and do make more than their husbands as well. these are things because we said they are things. That doesn't mean these roles aren't real, but rather that they are constructs of our society. We decided that "xyz" is what men do and "abc" is what women do. Money is a social construct for example. It has value because we all decided it does (maybe you could argue otherwise with the gold standard, but I digress). Does this mean that money isn't real? No. It just means that it is only relevant within society. Whether or not these roles are beneficial for us as a whole is a different topic. These gender roles have changed throughout history as well. Logic would assume if these roles were innate, they wouldn't change much if at all. Yet things like clothes, hair, and jobs have all been fluid and different between cultures. Hope this makes sense!

@@Kelly-pp1et 🤣😂 you beat me to it - one of my favourite quotes. One Other: "A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague". ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43BC)

What you are saying makes sense, but I believe the phrase would make more sense if it was worded this way " It's hard to have a productive discussion with a smart person but it is far more difficult to have a productive discussion with a less intelligent and ideologically possessed person". I don't think the purpose should be to "win" the argument but to listen to both perspectives and try to get at the truth.

I can see that things are not so black and white and minuet changes can happen in the brain that will put you on a "spectrum". I think the question that should be asked is if those rare brain anomalies should require significant complications to societal structures. If you have infinite categories then you have infinite rules? or would it just be an "other" category? There wouldn't be so much controversy if they would just decide on one pronoun. Just as all types of men settle for he and all types of women settle for she.

Hmm, not entirely true. If you are activist for something (like Steven is too), and some other activist is provoking you (as Steven does), you 'HAVE' to react. If Alicia would go sit in front of Steven's house, with a large banner saying 'Jesus = BS' or something, Steven would feel the NEED to go out and react. And don't forget these 'discussions' ARE rigged! Steven prepares himself for the subject and learns the data by heart and the conclusions of research that has been done on a subject. The people that sit with him have not. There's different kinds of 'forced' than twisting someone's arm.

You've allowed another soul to cause you to act incoherently and that's completely on you and your character as a person.

2 points to make here. 1 - the first person interviewed was possibly the most sensible, least antagonistic trans person I have ever seen discussing the subject. Full respect to them. 2 Steven Crowder - when you chatted with the second girl she mentioned the Male Brain and you kept insisting that she brought it up. She didn't - you brought it up in your previous discussion with her boss, and she was standing there recording it.

That's a fair point, yes crowder brought up the male brain and female brain statement first, but he brought that up in the first conversation, which went entirely different compared to 2nd conversation. He brought it up in the first talk and then the 2nd one brought it up first.

@@x_nathanite_x The whole point of her stepping in after her boss moved on was to debate points he had made while talking to her boss. He cannot claim that he didn't say it just because he wasn't talking to her at the time. She heard him say it, and she is challenging him on it. If he had posted her discussion as a separate video he might have gotten away with it, but by insisting she brought it up first, when we can clearly see he did, he is just weakening his credibility.

@@robbrown6495 I understand the point you're making, I'm just saying that although crowder did bring up the topic of male and female brains first, when they were talking about a different topic she brought it up first in their conversation, which is why he said he never brought it up and she did first, which to he was implying that in their conversation he never mention the brain thing first to her. And personally I think that when they give full unedited videos and a chance to hear the full debate and have an actual discussion instead of cutting some parts out to benefit their own points is actually good for their credibility and an amazing opportunity to hear from both sides in a civil discussion 🙂

Me too. I agree, if people are making changes to every little detail in our modern society, how are we supposed to keep up with what's "acceptable"? How are we supposed to accept the way we live changing to accommodate the few who say they're different? Why should we do so? They don't make up most of the world, they're just loud about it. The media is overrun with people like this, but in reality, it's not likely you'll find every single person informed about social constructs. I hope our society can wake up and realize people like that don't have to be outspoken to exist. They don't have to rally to be accepted. They don't have to be rude and in your face to be taken seriously. When you act uncivilized like that, you just take away from your own credibility. I hope we can look ahead and realize they are being unreasonable and don't make an good reflection of everyone like themselves. Do you think every gay person is in your face? Angry? Yelling? Rude? No. Some people just go overboard with their identities.

And she was actually a genuine trans woman. Most genuine trans people just want to be left alone to live their lives in peace. It's usually transtrenders and SJW dickheads getting offended on their behalf. I'm a gay biracial male, and SJWs have made my life more complicated because I constantly encounter fawning retards who think that I deserve to be treated differently. It's patronising and insulting, but above all else, it's idiotic.

Most people you see are the irrational people that feel hurt by everything. As you can see with the first woman. Not all trans people are like that. From experience the only reason they say question my existence is cause of the culture trans people have in which I don't agree with as a trans dude. Their offended by everything and have no understanding of perspectives. They don't think people should disagree and ironically I disagree. Everyone should have an opinion. Offensive or not.

This is how we should be when we disagree on topics or when trying to come up with solutions. If only our politicians had 1% of the maturity and ability to communicate effectively like these 2 show here. This shows we can disagree and still respect each other and not turn it into taking it as a personal attack and playing victim.

Aside from the fact that science is not actually imuttable truth since It changes all the time. Physical theorys, postulates, randomized studys...for christ sake science used to say the sun orbitated the earth and smoking ciggarettes was good for your health. Science is irrefutably the closest to truth but its not it. Wait for a new big study to come refuting everything Steven Crowder believes and he will get defensive and will call fake news. Dude doenst even believe in climate change and wants me to believe he cares for scientific ground. Please

@@Maninfsc I am a catholic so I am probably one of the person who believes that science is wrong the most, so I agree with that but climate change doesnt exist and here is why. When people say that it hasn't been this hot in 100 years they imply that it was this hot 100 years ago. The earth moves in cycles. The earth was in an ice age and it heated up causing the ice to melt renewing the cycle. I know climate is not the same as weather and the temperature, but I am saying the earth works in cycle and it is slowly getting hotter and colder as time goes on. If that makes any sense at all. I am no expert on it but that is what I picked up from high school biology.
@Maninfsc
@Maninfsc 5 жыл бұрын
@@theschneider9716 so youre saying the earth is cycling the weather...therefore you are saying the climate IS changing. Yes, but you must understand what she meant, right? Yes nobody is coercing her to sit and talk, but because people are claiming that her gender identity is wrong, she is compelled to. Much the same way that no human should ever have to fight for their right to not be owned by other people. Technically, they didn’t have to. But it was an issue that they were compelled to address because it directly affected their life.
