The shift to using the market team A.I is all about rebranding "big data." All companies before were selling their business model on the idea of "big data" and "we have the data to do this" and 3 years ago the whole big data crazy started to die down so their using A.I as a cover up to basically sell the same thing and people have figured this out much quicker than they expected. Consumer wise A.I will eventually flop which it should until there is something more practical for consumers ot ue. Businesses will use it to help enhance their BI to get better insights and clean up the data they have so there is a benefit there. But this won't work with the current business model. II just setup an A.I workflow where, when I post a KZbin video it will pull the video into my wordpress site, read the transcript and then create a custom post based on it and publish automatically. The fact that it can be done decently well with the low cost show that it isn't a sustainable model over the long haul. A.I will eventually "crash" the stock market and we'll move on to the next big buzz after that. Most likely another form of "big data"

It's gonna be a bad bubble pop, and it's already done a ton of damage to the jobs sector too.

So accurate. It has that déjà vu all over again NFT vibe. It is so obviously an investor bubble that is 100% going to pop.

Hoping it doesn't take too many people down with it, but it's already impacting jobs.

Its a solution looking for a problem. This tends to be inefficient. Some problems are fulfilled, but others are impractical or not worth such an investment.

I saw AI used a ton more energy compared to regular searches on servers. My first thought was this doesn’t make financial sense and I should invest in utilities since the companies are diving deep into AI. Gotta use electricity for that! Too committed to it now

I wish we could make "investing in infrastructure" sexier to investors...
@Cakebattered2 ай бұрын
The current model for investing in infrastructure is to privatize and monopolize it. Larry Fink spoke about this at the last G7 summit.

Google was just a search engine before. Today, they are one of the biggest tech and ads company so I'm not going to be surprised if A.I pioneering companies become advertising companies in the future.

Well, they wont have the benefit of a market like how Google came up (and turned into a monopoly), but yes. It seems the only revenue is generated off user data.

@@SomeGadgetGuy there also seems to be a possibility of selling this tech, or developing it as such, as a form of weaponry. Whether it be to help with cyber attacks (e.g bot attacks for propaganda or to help develop code) or automated weaponry (e.g distinguishing friend or foe). Companies, governments, militaries, individuals may also use to it in future - or perhaps now- to sift through large amounts data and more easily find notable information. This all seems like another avenue for profits… maybe

That's why peer to peer data hosting will replace legacy data centers. Holo hosting is the innovative answer. (Not Blockchain)

so the short story is that investors are funding a company that makes pickaxe for other companies to dig for gold (if there's any)

It also DOESNT WORK. It’s a party trick. As soon as you actually need something of professional quality or just not MADE UP these generative models shit the bed.

People don't want to admit they AI a lot on coding and writing. I promise you that there's a solid business model in these two fields.

Enough to pay for a single data center?

@@SomeGadgetGuy I think the reason these companies are using more than they're making is because they're constantly training their algorithms. They need money for faster GPUs etc. But I can guarantee you that most writers and coders today can't live without some AI. And as it gets better, almost everyone will be subscribed.
@AgentZeroNine12 ай бұрын
Wasn't AI generated code what caused the whole crowdstrike issue? Lol. If a company what's to be risky, let them deal with the consequences. Hopefully the dev who implemented the machine generated code got fired.
@SomeGadgetGuy2 ай бұрын
So no. And with every generational improvement in model training, it requires an order of magnitude more processing power. So... how much do the subscriptions need to be to pay for that? What should we charge them for water?
@DesmondKarani2 ай бұрын
@@SomeGadgetGuy at some point it'll no longer be about buying additional GPUs but just training the algorithm. Also, at some point it'll get significantly better that more people will be forced to subscribe to be better. At that point they'll also be able to convince more businesses to buy the product. For example, if they can train these AIs to handle large files of code, it would not make business sense for a company to hire several engineers for some tasks.
