The only issue i have is there are people in my house that watch stuff live like im a celeb and some bbc shows and they dont know how to use any kind of smart device or amazon stick so i kinda have no choice but to pay for the licence fee despite me personaly not needing it. Really the issue with this hole thing is people who are technology illiterate who dont know how to send a email or even use the text part of a phone are kind of forced to pay the license fee cus they refuse to even try to learn how to watch stuff online. if it wasnt for there being a large % of people like that in the country i think most people probes would stop paying for it.

Jon. My uncle created Dr Who in the 60s. At that time the Beeb was a very different corporation and yes, it was a very different world. But I can tell you this. He (James Anthony Coburn) in the very short time I knew him before he passed away from a sudden heart attack. Being a very conservative, catholic Aussie he would not be happy with the uber woke BBC these days. They care more about ESG ratings from their global overlords than a magical children's timelord. Working on other shows like Poldark, Warship and the Onedin Line, he wouldn't have spent any time to include BS woke ideologies into the stories just to keep the bosses happy at the Beeb. I only saw the first season of Dr Who with Chris, then a few episodes with David. That was back in 06 i think it was, could be wrong, but never watched it since. In fact, the next series of Doctor Who is to air on BBC in the UK on the 11th May, but if you are a Disney+ subscriber in the UK, you get to see it a day earlier on the 10th May. So much for it being a BBC show, they don’t even get to show it first. But that is all moot, because who the hell wants to watch Doctor Who any more?

Nope! The Disney+ deal only covers the global streaming rights for the show OUTSIDE the UK. BBC One and BBC iPlayer remains the home of Dr. Who in the UK. The first two episodes will be there at midnight May 11th - which will be May 10th in the US - before the BBC One broadcast later that evening. 7.49 million watched the 2023 Christmas Special, down only 5.4% from the last time the show aired on Christmas Day, which is actually a very promising start for this new era.

You are not paying the BBC as it is a privately owned commerical corporation by a royal charter Granted by the queen in 2017. As such it has condition imposed. As it is not part of the government they can't tax you directly or demand you join, but you pay a trust who then determines who gets that money. That trust is run by the BBC and thus only they get the money. If you use the service and don't pay they can take you to court as any other service provide may. Any pretensions to government agencies, Parliament or public service is purely fictious!

I love Doctor Who. I really thank BBC for it's Inception but if it moves i will move with it. Using heartstrings to justify the license fee is nothing new and I'm not scared of it.
