There is someone out there, waiting for you.

Sometimes I retreat into that melancholy space where you only exist in my mind. A cinematic poem written and performed by Craig Young.
'Rough sheets' is a poem for everyone who has ever laid alone on summer nights - listening to music as a way to steer thoughts and dreams while creased, hot sheets stick to flesh. It’s about longing.

The film was shot on a Sony FX3 with G-Master zoom lenses. Additional aerial footage was captured on the DJI Air2S. The film was edited on Final Cut Pro with a M1 MacBook. The monologue was filmed in my tiny apartment in Berlin. The rest was captured around the beautiful lakes of Brandenburg.

The emotion in your voice depicts something deep underneath its surface, much like the lake hiding a myriad of things below its own. It allows our imaginations to wander and maybe relate to something within our own lives, perhaps from the past or present. This brought tears to my eyes and is truly beautiful.
