12:30 The detail about the family having to clean up after a murdered or deceased loved one is pretty surprising but it makes sense when you think about it. I was a removal technician for a mortuary for awhile. All that stuff is privatized. My job was specifically to remove decedents from their home, and oftentimes there was blood or goo or whatever left over from the body, and even that wasn't our job to clean up. Our job was solely the transportation of the body. Any mess or residue was never anything we had to worry about. Death and crime scene cleanup is just as specialized and is its own industry. I highly recommend having that work outsourced because it can be traumatizing to clean up after a loved one's death, let alone just being there for it at all.

The funny thing is, the only reason they could get away with this is due to "parody law," and they couldn't even use the name "Grinch" at all,not even once due to copyright. That's why everytime someone is about to say the name they just get interrupted, which is both funny and self aware but also annoying at the same time. Hell. The Jim Carrey Grinch is enough of a horror movie already. One of my first memories is a strong one of balling my eyes out during the “da, da, da… DA GRINCH” when she falls into that terrifying machine. From him hiding in the ceiling corner and screaming in response to her scream, to his slow menacing turn around then wrapping her aggressively with gift wrap, I couldn’t handle it. I had to be taken out of the theater. Let’s not forget the giant Grinch face that scares the teens off the side of a cliff and growls like a demon, not the truly horrific mask straight out of some SCP story he wears into town to wreak havoc on the Whos… the movie is filled with scary moments that still make me uneasy as a grown ass man.

After the foresnics team leaves and they take the body away (or what's left of it) They leave cleaning up the mess up to the family. Most of the time the officers will give the family a card and/or referal to a local crime scene clean up crew who will come and do it for you but they actually charge you for it (bc let's be real here. Not everyone is down to scrape brain matter off of the ceilings and walls so might as well make a business out of it). Look into it, I've actually worked for one and it is def NOT WORTH THE PAY.

The Halloween Grinch story was the first one I was exposed to as a kid ... the one in which the Grinch was, indeed, quite scary. I haven't seen it in a long time, but in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it would air around Halloween in the same way that the Christmas Grinch story still usually is around Christmas. I don't think it's a "Halloween" theme exactly in the way that the Christmas story is, but it was aired around Halloween because it's pretty dark and scary for Dr. Seuss. It involves a different kid, a boy named "Eucharia." I still remember the scene that bothered me the most ... Eucharia is running through a darkened area and a bunch of eyes are seen opening and closing in the dark, while a song plays. "Eu-Ch-Ri-Ah, Eu-Cha-Ri-Ah, Grinch is gonna get ya', Grinch is gonna get ya', Eu-Cha-Ri-Ah!!"

It’s literally not their job. It’s law enforcement and investigations. Cleaning up the crime scene ruins the integrity of it when it comes to finding the culprit (so it ain’t something that just happens instantly because further investigation might be prompted days after). There are companies that specialize in cleaning these sorts of tragedies but even still, people aren’t going to just be left on their own by a good agency that takes care of its community.
