7:00 Qd8 seems like quite a counterplay for Alireza... Fabi's e pawn will fall (or his bishop) and the white queen reenters the game on the e file sustaining the queening of the d pawn and threatening nasty checks...
@chaungiddings7255
@chaungiddings7255 Жыл бұрын
It's black's move and black played c5. So the bishop isn't lost, in fact, if you threaten it with the queen, it just moves to b5 (where it was heading anyway) to threaten checkmate. Black has too much activity, white can't castle, and the white queen needs at least two moves to get back into the game. It's pretty hard for white here.
@carron979
@carron979 Жыл бұрын
@@chaungiddings7255 of course, after ...c5; Qd8-Bb5; Qe7+ Kg6; Q:e6.. and no more mate threat. Plus an e pawn 2 squares from queening... The 2 moves the white queen needs are forcing moves : the first one attacks Fabi's bishop and the second is a check... Then I guess ...Ba4 from Fabi (which he should have played instead af Bb5 already) and f5+!! Ka5 (only move); Qf7+,g6; b4! and who's mating who? 🙂

Fabiano Caruana. What is he, the third highest rated chess player in history or something? HE'S BACK. Back where he belongs: at the top. Lookout Ding. Lookout Nepo. Fancy a comeback, Carlsen? Not so easy now, me thinks. For whatever reason Fabi dropped of the grid for a while there. But I think this, and other recent results, has demonstrated that Caruana is well and truly back on The Scene. And the world of chess is better for it.
