So here goes! I’m an Arsenal fan, and I do believe both saka and rice have been poor in the tournament so far, I also agree that he hasn’t moved the ball forward enough, looks tired and hasn’t had any treat going forward. Defensively I don’t think he’s been at he’s best either, but I believe that is more down to the unbalanced structure of the team. The middle of the pitch is so congested that there’s is no room for any of the big players to play. so they are all dropping even further back creating a issue with passing patterns through the middle and down the left. In my very honest armchair pundit opinion I would bring worton into the middle and push rice slightly higher to help press higher up the pitch, bring palmer in for saka, and Watkins or Bowen in for Kane leave judd where he is and have foden coming in off the left where he can interchange with Watkins/Bowen as some what if a false nine, which even judd could slip into depending on where they are in the pitch at a given time of the game! Oh and put walker on the left and get Trent in at right back! There you have it! Southgate your welcome to copy 😜😂

Rice should be dropped in favour of Wharton or played as a central defender in a back three. He doesn't have the right skills set to play as a controller in midfield. His one touch game, his skill in keeping the ball, his forward passing, his movement without the ball, it's all below par.

Is the same story - they played their best player - Scholes - on the left - Scholes was by no means suited to be a winger - they should have played him in the midfield along with Carrick - lamps just behind Rooney and two good wingers - they would have definitely been better. Xhaka had a decent final season but that doesn't make up for five years of reckless challenges, losing possession and sending the ball into the stands every week. Rice on the other hand was arguably our most consistent player last season after the skipper
