I am a Malaysian living in Canada watching both of you enjoying the durians is killing me big time!!!!Haven't had durian for over ten years, but am coming home next year May/June 2024, hopefully it will be durian season. We grew up eating only kampung durians before all the new varieties were created, so I have never had any of these new varieties e.g. Musang King, Red Prawn etc. LOL

It is so amazing to see both of you enjoying durian and even know how to buy a good one. I did not know that by shaking it, you can tell. I am really truly impressed. The YTF couple are very kind people with their smiles and service. I think most Malaysians are friendly people. Makes me happy to see that from my country.

There are so many durian variety in Malaysia. Each variety has its own texture and taste. Even the taste of same variety may vary because the flavor of the fruit is dictated by location it was planted, season, age of the tree and how the tree was taken cared of.

Tiomg Nam Street… really miss the Bak Kut Teh and fish head noodle (it’s a house/shop at the corner of the road). And night time, the place has quite a few makeshift eatery places that serve very good delicious food. Nearby (15-20 mins taxi ride) to Hospital Tawakkal and behind the hospital, there’s a restaurant Aik Yuen Restaurant 亿园茶餐室 that serve really good food for dinner, from black Hokkien Mee to Lor Mee and fried Sotong (cuttlefish)

just FYI, at the yong tau foo stall, they were trying to tell you it is "tau foo pok" that u chose, which is one of many types of tofu we have here. Tau foo pok is more puffy and porous so it is a great for absorbing curry and sauces. You also have soft white tofu, hard white tofu (which is called Tau foo kua) and egg tofu (which is yellow and super soft).
@71enml11 ай бұрын
also, the classic way to have yong tau foo is actually the sweet sauce mixed with chili sauce, but many people also like to have it with that watery curry
