Being self employed 100% comes with just as many pitfalls as being an employee.

But at least being self employed your in control of any pitfall, your are your own pitfall if things don’t go right.

Im a trash truck driver. Make great money. I do side hustles all the time. I do pest control, pressure wash trucks and trailers,small engine repair, regular size engine repair, welding,wash trash bins and business trash bin pads. I have energy to get off and do my side hustles and on weekends,i can do the same.

I always say no matter how good or comfortable you are at a company, you have to be prepared for it to be taken from you.

Trucking is a high risk business...many ways to lose your job as a trucker...whether your local or OTR.....but OTR is the most riskier of the two....you can get more credentials like your hazmat and twic card...but, your still relying on a JOB at the end of the day like everyone else...and trucking requires mental and physcial requirements...the best things that trucker can do is prioritize thier health, and save their money and try to plan for an alternative career that they control.

I think there will always be jobs for food trucking , compared to OTR or other trucking positions, because most people don’t wanna do the labor or get tired of it. If your a person with a strong mindset and know how to lift stuff properly and can take it, then you will have no problem finding food service jobs anytime .

The whole entrepreneurial aspect is good but my problem is the trend once you become one, they’ll be the main ones talking down on the 9-5 workers. Next they will complain no one want to work,can’t find good help or help in general when they go shopping and need help finding something. Also most time business don’t really take off right away, more like 10+ years and they don’t have money or a plan like you said but want to quit their jobs because it’s trending thing to do

Great video Anthony. But I think it won’t hurt to have other skills and also be open to pivot away from trucking. I have been doing food service for 3 years but recently I decided to finish up with college. But I love that you talk about investing and saving. That’s something I have been focusing on because you can’t rely solely on just 401k for the future.

Hey fam.... I feel you on this as it pertains to not being too comfortable. I'm currently a government employee and have been seen retiring for the military. I'm currently getting my CDL permit for the second time because I've been interested in trucks since my childhood. Having a CDL in your back pocket is a very smart move no matter the circumstances because, like you said, it allows you to pivot if needed. Stay up bro!

I'll go ahead and say this, Fedex Ground drivers are by far one of the most susceptible trucking jobs to being laid off. It's all contract work, and contracts can and will change without notice and often times force the contractor to lay off their drivers. This was my exact situation last year, but I came back after they found more contract work. I like Fedex Ground, it's stable, predictable work, but I never know one year to another if I'll have a job when I wake up the next morning.

I did 1 year at FedEx Ground doing linehaul years ago and ending up leaving for FedEx Freight for that exact reason. I never looked at ground as a long term job

Very true bro! As a driver who is under a union contract, the union adds some layers of protection but doesn’t save you from being terminated if you have violated enough of the agreed upon terms of the contract like the attendance policy for example. I agree, aim for jobs that provide a higher degree of job stability and that will help you invest for your future. Keep dropping 💎 bro

Trucking job security is one of the most secure for the most part . I don’t know many trucking companies particularly food service trucking companies that lay off . It’s pretty consistent.
@imanthonytvАй бұрын
You’re right. Food service is pretty consistent along with fuel hauling and some others. However, even with food service there were many drivers who were laid off during the pandemic. That’s an example of the disruption I mentioned in the video. That crisis impacted the economy which impacted jobs. I guess my point is when companies start losing enough money at some point they have to stop the bleeding and often times it leads to cutting expenses (employees).
@samestuffdifferentday5712Ай бұрын
@@imanthonytv yeah the pandemic was pretty unexpected and sudden but normally food service trucking is stable . I’ve never been laid off from a food service trucking job and I’ve had about 10 of them in my career.

Food company is always available and consistent because that’s the trucking job most people don’t wanna do due to the labor. People wanna do the easier one which is OTR driving and that’s where lay off are happening

There is job security with the right company. But unfortunately there are not very many and the ones that are there are hard to get depending on what state you live in. Like for example my state Louisiana you have to know or pay somebody to get a good truck job lol sh*t ridiculous honestly

You can definitely make over 100k a year with those jobs of course you have to be smart about what you do with your money I’d hope you’d be saving it. Then you can use that to start your own business or go to school for something else with more job security like nursing LPN, RN etc lol

Got a question for ya. Been driving a long time and had my first accident ever In my driving career. I was issued a ticket but went to court and got it dismissed. So lets say i want to go drive for another company and they pull my driver record and see that i was in accident are they going to hold that against me? The accident was my fault but the ticket was dismissed. How is the new company going to look at that? Will they hire me, or would i have to wait for 3 years for it to fall off my record?
@imanthonytv20 күн бұрын
It’s really going to depend on the employer. Most companies list specific requirements pertaining to MVR and accidents on their job postings. I guess it’s possible that an exception could be made in some instances but it’s going to be up to the employer when making that decision. I would recommend still applying for said company. The worst they can say is no. Move on to the next. Have you checked your MVR since the accident to see what’s actually on it?
@basswhisper776720 күн бұрын
