Applause to Adrienne for sharing her truth because I've been going through the same thing. It may sound superficial but the idea of letting yourself go (and being unaware of it) is very scary. I recently had to switch up my diet and get my metabolism pumped up again. If you go too long without doing anything, it will be hard to get back to yourself.

Now , Adrienne I have to say with her health issues... she has a thyroid condition and an auto immune disease which is one of the reasons why her weight fluctuates a lot.... When she gained 20 pounds I didn't notice because when I see a person I don't think of their weight I think of how they are doing and what they are going through ! She looks beautiful either way regardless tbh !

Adrienne has problems with her body changing, as it ages. I think these ladies are telling her that's fairly normal, a slower metabolism is but one example of what every woman eventually experiences. The next chapter will be learning to embrace that, as you move on and let go of your 20s. That's a legitimate fear, that they themselves experienced, as all women approaching 30 (and in their early 30s) experience. They were able to empathize and comfort her, telling her she will be okay. That's a conversation she needed to have and I learned a thing or two myself so thanks, ladies. I'll be 28 this year and the changes in my body in and out are visible, unsettling. 'Tis good to be reminded that it's a universal transition, these conversations are important to have. Women don't express these things in fear of appearing insecure. Have such conversations with one another, instead of tearing eachother down. A lot of you women, in the comment section, are doing just that to Adrienne. Kindly, go love yourselves.

Shay A thank you! What you said is awesome and so true!! I experienced this when I was 26 and it was hard to accept that my body was changing. We need to talk about this more in our society. We see too much of celebrities being skinny after giving birth or being skinny all the time. I'm now 30 and have accepted it. I eat healthier and workout but I do accept that my body will not look how I was at 23-24.
@xuxushushu
@xuxushushu 7 жыл бұрын
BeautifulDreamerK I feel you sis! We do need to have these discussions. I think as long as we're taking care of our health and dedicated to staying fit, we'll be able to have smooth transitions as we age at any age. Once we learn to embrace our natural aging process, it will result in mental fitness which is essentially, most important. Tamara points this out to Adrienne, seeing her happy and satisfied in her life overshadowed her self-consciousness and in turn, they were all blind to her weight gain. When we're self-conscious about our appearance, people sense that and they subconsciously focus on what we're self-conscious about. I'm glad you're able to grow mentally and embrace yourself physically. Unfortunately, these celebs you mentioned cause women to sink deeper and never let go; They resort to going under the knife and never reach a level of satisfaction.. so on so forth.. anyway, keep accepting yourself! ☺️

Adrienne you are beautiful. However I do feel you need to detox from social media. And clear your mind and focus on yourself and happiness. Give yourself a break from posting pictures and just focus on yourself. Secondly, each persons pregnancy is different, each persons motivation and drive to stay fit is different. Gaining weight during pregnancy is required unless it becomes to excess and dangerous for the health of yourself and the baby. Thirdly, after pregnancy once cleared by the doctors you can build a routine to get back into shape at your own pace not by what critics or body shamers believe you should do. Follow what is in your heart and what your own personal goal is. Everything will fall into place by Gods grace. Enjoy the journey and focus on being happy.

I have the same fear as Adrienne and I'm 22 . I don't want to let go but I know that I'm not perfect. I know life happens and I can't control . What gives me the greatest peace is that I trust myself. Life has happened to me and I 've been somewhat depressed but I always came back to loving myself. I make the decision everyday to love myself and accept myself and that has made all the difference

People really need to think about what Adrienne is saying instead of calling her selfish and vain. As a woman alone and then one in the spotlight this is a genuine fear and insecurity. Unfortunately in today's society body image has such a big impact on a woman's self worth. I do also think that as she experiences more in life, particularly with having children, her feelings about this will change.

I think a lot of people totally missed what Adrienne was trying to explain. If you ever go on the Real's social media or these damn KZbin comments, you will see how pathetic and DISRESPECTFUL some people are when it comes to the ladies-especially Adrienne. This girl has been scrutinized since her 3LW days. Can she be a bit vain at times? Yeah, but I think MOST women can be that way. However, I believe A is facing a lot of pressure daily and it's going to take time for her to really accept her body's phases. Also, A is like 4"11, when she gains like 10 lbs, it shows because shorter people look bigger when they gain weight compared to a taller person. Some of you guys should stop judging and work on your empathy.

I really relate to what she's saying, I didn't see my weight gain either until I woke up one day and had realised I had slowly gained a stone. Relationship weight is a real thing, and it's good to acknowledge that it's hard to go through that. Wake up and not know your body and have to really try to lose it. It's nice to know others are on that journey too

I let myself go for about 4 years... no make up, sweats, eat whatever I want, etc. I used to be the girl in high school that would be overdressed and full face of make up and hair done everyday. Honestly it is so much better to just be natural and love the skin you are in. I was way happier when I "let myself go" and also worked on inner beauty which goes a really long way with the right people and you truly learn to love yourself. I got a lot of hateful little remarks from "Friends" over it but they are all cut off now and I really would not want people that shallow in my life. As long as you are hygienic and don't look unkempt, I don't see the issue. I'm now starting to dress up again but only when I go out.

I kinda get what she's saying - when I was 26, my metabolism changed. I gained weight easily and I didn't feel like me and it made me sad! It was just different. I knew I wasn't going to have my 23 year old body forever but the change was so sudden. Adapting to it was hard. The difference now is that I've accepted it. I see a naturopath, workout , eat healthy... I'm not super fit like the celebrities and that's okay. Why is it that whenever Adrienne has something to say everyone else has something to say? She literally just admitted that social media trolls shamed her into losing weight. How dare y'all that CONTINUE to shame her, the show is called THE REAL, it doesn't get any realer than that, if that's how she feels who are you to tell her that she's wrong? Or that she's vain and selfish? Honestly, that's who she is. Y'all come for Adrienne more than anybody and that's not okay, yes she's small, yes she's feeling herself on the gram, but who cares? Tamera said "(pre weight loss) that was the happiest I'd seen you". If Miss Adrienne Bailon-Houghton wants to speak her mind on once again THE REAL, and YOU have a problem with it, why don't you buy a plane ticket first class, fly out to the show and tell her how you really feel? You wouldn't say it in person? Oh okay, thought so. So mind your business, she's out there living her life, a newlywed, soon to be mother if she so chooses. Chill out. "Vain" and "obsessed" are not even the correct words to describe Adrienne, she deserves so much better than what you're presenting in the comments. Her life is not your life to live.

Something I wanted to tell Adrienne was that even if you lost yourself, be strong enough to forgive yourself and move forward. It’s okay if you fail or mess up, just like how you learned that it’s okay to go back home, I hope you will learn that it’s okay to ‘let go of yourself’ and give yourself the time and space to find yourself again. You’re gonna be okay, Adrienne. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders and people who love you, so that’s all the matters.

Not feeling like yourself is an identity thing within your core values and people forget we change everyday. so you might find yourself thinking "i don't want to not feel like myself". when really you grew as a human and everything shifted. you realized something happened but now you might attache misplaced loyalty to the person you were yesterday because you don't (instantly) see in these moments that it was growth, and not so much the fact that you don't know yourself. we all do this to ourselves in different ways. so thank you for sharing this Adrienne because vocalizing a scary moment or scary feeling is a brave thing.

I love Loni !! I understand what all the women were saying I think it could’ve been phrased as forgetting about yourself. As mom's and women we tend to put everything and everyone before ourselves. I remember when I was a nail tech doing my customers and listening to them say how they did this for their kids and that for their men/husbands and having to force themselves to make themselves a priority. I would say just like Adrienne I never want that to be me or that will never be me. Lol. Well it became me. When I became a mom everything in me changed (doesn’t for every women). My daughter become my entire world (minus God). So those shopping spheres I used to do just for me became all about her. I wanted to make sure she was always flyyyy Now that she’s getting older she’s has her own style and her own personality and so now I’m working on getting back to me. If you can find a balance that’s the healthiest thing to do for yourself and your child(ren). Too much of anything isn’t good. So have balance people. Also what she was saying about weight gain. I’m the same height as Adrienne.. for health reason 15-20lbs is a lot on a short body. Even though you will look like a slim thick snack 👅💦 its a lot. I got my grown body like boom out of no where (that I prayed for my entire life) but with it came breathing issues that I didn’t have before. Although my Boo loves the grown women...she had to go👋🏾. It’s nice to be loved no matter the size but It was too damn much🤷🏽‍♀️ And yes there were tons of people in my life that was like you let yourself go blah blah blah I think it was coming from a place of love (like you don’t look like yourself ..kind of thing) but at the time when I was still adjusting to my new body it was very hard to hear. It was hard for the weight to fall off but it’s coming off 🙏🏾🙌🏾💃🏽💃🏽 Thanks for sharing ladies

Honestly, that was the realest that I've seen Adrienne. If you've been with this show from the jump, we know that her growing up in the industry has made her highly insecure to the publics critique. This show has been her saving grace as well, so what ppl say about her, what viewers think about her, does matter, and to have 1000s of ppl coming at you all the time, as much as she has a thick skin, it hurts. Therefore, no, this isn't vanity, no marriage aint gonna fix your insecurities, being self-conscious is just the reality for celebs and I respect Adrienne for laying it down, that was so vulnerable. And everyone stop coming for her for being the young voice in the group! She's young, fresh, and learning... reps a lot of girls who watch this show! Leave this Latina spicy, Newyork toughin it, and cheetahlicious woman alone! #Teamadrienne

Confidence doesn't equate to having zero insecurities and not wanting to "let yourself go" doesn't make you a narcissist.

It's not wrong that she wants to take care of herself :( Yea she shouldn't loose weight for other people But she has the right to feel to loose weight if she wants too So everyone chill She ain't conceited She ain't vain She ain't shallow She just wants to improve herself There's nothing wrong with that Adrienne you do you And if you want to be fit, be fit support uplifting comments not ones that are rude

Adrienne is absolutely right though. You shouldn't just accept or be ok with "letting yourself go". Sometimes people do need to let you know. And sometimes you'll figure it out ok your own. But just gaining weight and saying alright I'm cool with it isn't cool.

I’ll be honest. I gained 20 lbs because of the comments I received on social media. But after I let go of the things people had to say about me I was able to reflect on myself and understand what makes me happy. Now I feel free to do what makes me feel good from within

if Adrianne wants to have kids, she has to face the reality that it is not easy and you are going to let yourself go to some extent, like Tamara said, it takes time to get back to yourself, emotionally and physically and you have to find yourself all over again because having a child especially for the first time can be really life-changing and ppd is real!! It takes time to get used to having a child, your not going to give birth and then the next day wear a full face of makeup and and go back to your pre pregnancy weight, if she can do that, kudos to her, but in the end of the day, she's going to have to face her fears and realize that this is the reality of having children but she will definitely get back to herself it just takes time and there is nothing wrong with that , this is what most mothers go through and it's what's going to make her husband love her even more and appreciate her even more.

I understand where Adrienne is coming from. I saw an interview with Mariah Carey and she said the same thing, about how she thought she would never get her body back and feel like herself again after having her twins. Adrienne sees herself as a pretty woman, which is great and she doesn't want to lose that. But at the same time don't listen to people on the Internet when it comes to body image and weight.

Wow, I really love how Adrianne kept it real, because lately in the media people just talk about how we should be confident in ourselves and ignore the negativity. But Adrianne's worry on letting herself go is really what we do go through. This comes to show that just because you are on TV you are not perfect and that comments hurt. Also that these unrealistic body expectation on women does not only affect everyday women, but also women in the media.

I see a lot of people calling Adrianne "self absorbed" and I just gotta speak up. First of all, I'm proud of her, she's very honest about being insecure, which REAL self absorbed folks would NEVER reveal, since they want to seem perfect to those around them. Second of all, it's perfectly normal to be insecure, all you haters have been insecure before, don't act like you haven't been. Adrianne is confident in her skin, but just like any other human, she gets insecure every now and then. Why can't people confide in others about their situations without getting judged? She didn't just confided in the ladies of the real, she confided in all of us when she chose to speak on her insecurities on television. This girl is strong, but is also a lady, and we ladies ain't perfect. The level of hate I keep seeing every week is disgusting. You "girls" need to grow up and stop the hate. If you're just mad because you're ugly and these ladies are gorgeous, than idk, go do some cardio and put some makeup on 😂 but don't hate simply because you feel less. Jealousy is ugly

Here is my take, be comfortable in being you. Whether you look like you stepped out of Vogue or whether you are relaxing in sweats and a tshirt, as long as you love you its all that matters. While I think being healthy is very important make sure you are doing it for you and no one else.

The way people see you is not always how you perceive yourself. It's okay to be insecure , most of us are. I understand what Adrienne is saying, everyone can say she looks good and beautiful but she's the one who needs to realize it and I'm sure she'll overcome those insecurities. Like Loni says she's still young.

Adrienne needs to chill with this thing she's worried about... Beauty fades but it's what's in your heart Adrienne. If it's that bad then eat healthy... she made me sad just talking this way when she's beautiful but it made her come across as vain.. You got Loni sitting beside 3 girls at the table, she could be sitting there being insecure about her weight. Sitting next to Loni would have helped me feel a little better if I was Adrienne. The difference between Loni and Adrienne is that Loni has confidence and that's admirable.

This is why I try not to comment about people's weight. I saw a model online not too long ago looking like stick, very very unhealthy, and I was going to comment something caring and respectful regarding her weight, but then I stopped my self and realized, It's none of my business, and for all I know, she might take it the wrong way and get her feelings hurt. Sometimes we get an itching to tell someone something like that, it's normal to want to criticize for better or worse, no one is perfect, what matters is to hold back and put your self in their shoes. I think we should all learn to keep our thoughts to our selves, and if we find something a true concern, then let's try to be respectful in our delivery

Adrienne is 100% very insecure which is really sad. She always wants to look perfect.. constantly pouts her lips when she's not talking...heavily edits a lot of her pictures on IG etc.. yet will lie to herself by telling us that she's okay with not wearing makeup in public and stuff like really girl?! She's almost insecure about us knowing that she is so insecure which is even sadder... I wish she didn't feel this way.

I’m going through this right now. Since going back to school it’s been so stressful juggling life that I just literally just stopped caring. I stopped giving a damn about everything including something as simple as taking a shower every day if I’m being real. I literally told myself I’m only gonna focus on things that I need to get through this period in my life. I’m like once I am settled in, I’ll go back to the gym, I’ll go back to cooking, I’ll go back to the salon. But the sad thing is I didn’t realise that every time I see myself in the mirror I lose a little confidence in myself.
