The reason Kick-Ass is no better with his hands after all that time is because he stopped being kick ass at the end of the first movie. At the beginning of this movie he says he hasn't done any fighting or training at all. And then he did a couple weeks with Mindy.

That Dave's girlfriend cheating on him might be a thing that was picked up from comic because unlike in the movie(first one) in the comic they never got together and she sent Dave I think it was a video but might have been a picture of her doing stuff with her boyfriend after she found out that he is kick ass and he told her that he has thing for her. Comic is way less goofy and is borderline depressing. Its very similar to how boys adapted comic.

The reason we never got a number 3, and alot of the actirs tried to distance themselves from this film, was simply that real world events got alitte out of control. Sandy Hook happened right after this film dropped along with a few other prominent mass shootings. And this film was held up as an example by the right of our hollywood, not guns are responsible for Americans gun violence. They talked about how this movie glorified violence and, being a super villain, and even went as far as to critize the far darker comic. It kind of killed the franchise if i recall correctly

This movie had so many issues both when it came out and in hindsight. Like, I remember right before the movie came out Jim Carey was like "I hated this role, I don't support this movie whatsoever" and that was kind of a downer hype-wise. Then there's the kiss, Aaron is 24, Chloe is 15, so more "Young underage actress being forced to kiss a grown man" I didn't realize it till this year but Night-B**** is the same actress who plays Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon, she's great, she just disappears into her roles, she was in Ready Player One too. The attempted SA scene I believe in the comics wasn't "Attempted" but man they could have cut that out of the movie, they could have just messed up her house and caused her to flee or something. Sadly there is no Kick Ass 3 which this movie teased. I still wish they'd make a grown-up Hit-Girl movie, see what became of her.

I thought Kick Ass 2 was okay, but that its main issue, was really just sort of the source material, the second comic series, not being as great as the original comic series, either. I thought the actors did well though with what they had to work with. I'd still be excited to see more Kick Ass films, whether it be sequel or prequel, or potentially even something else (would sort of prefer to see the main cast of both movies back). I also stopped reading comics for a bit, so not sure if much source material exists (as far as more stories/series). Main reason I wanted to comment though, as per Roxy's comment near the end, for recommendations, is that I think you both, would really enjoy a French movie, from 2001 known as Brotherhood of the Wolf or Le Pacte des loups. 1. Its not a pure horror movie, its more of a period action horror movie. I think its horror enough though. 2. Loosely based on some real life events, but a more fantastical interpretation. 3. Despite being a bit different, I think you'd both specifically find it interesting. I would say more but I wouldn't want to spoil things. Possible issue though is that you'd probably want to go with the subtitled version, and not sure if you both have reacted to many subbed movies. Don't know if its one of those films that comes with copyright headaches, don't see it too often in Reactions.

While I understand where y’all coming from wit the tonal shifts, I kinda disagree. I feel like for one, a lotta comics and super hero stories are like that where they constantly make the lighthearted main superhero face tragedy, usually as a means to make them question if being a hero is worth it/helping like they did in this movie (Spider-Man is a GREAT example), and I also feel like they kinda had to go even harder and darker to achieve that with this movie because both hit girl and kick ass went thru some crazy shit in the first one and that didn’t stop them from being heros so the only way to make them question their actions is by upping the stakes. The only scene I felt was unnecessary/overboard was when Chris’ character was going to SA that girl like yall pointed out. I guess that can be chalked up to him trying to be as evil as he can be to prove his family/associates wrong (and also to be a “joke”) but regardless I don’t think they shoulda had that
