Calgar was a Chapter Master without peer as some would say within the Imperium, and while he is a very icon within the Ultramarines he has proven to be a warrior that has much to learn to be a warrior of Ultramar, but unlike many within the Space Marine he at least has his father in Guilliman to guide him to even greater heights, though perhaps he must remove that envy of no longer having to lead his Chapter now that his Father has return and turn those feelings as a source of determination that he is still worthy of leading the Ultramarines.

The fact that his father returned and still put him in charge of Ultramar shows how reliable he is. He was also capable of keeping the rivalry between Cato Sicarius and Severus Ageman in check despite the huge amount of influence both captains have within the chapter.

Calgar is that first born, who has his life and career together but because of that doesn’t get as much attention as the trouble makers (Sicarius), making him a bit salty. He shouldn’t need the daddy’s attention but he is only human, and regardless worthy first son of the 13th. Glory to the Lord Macragge. Guilliman is definitely proud of him and the fact he doesn’t need babysitting. (Again, unlike someone.)

Hell yes. Originally I didn't really like the ultramarines. They were too... Standard? Baldermort changed that with his stories of the three friends which rose through the training and ranks. I don't know if he made those stories up or if they are from some lore, but after that I was an ultramarine fanboy. I have only read a few books (don't have much spare time) and played the tabletop game once with paperclips as standins. Not my thing. Most of the info I get about this universe is from people like you, and I appreciate your efforts a lot. You did an outstanding job and I have been wanting to learn more about this guy since I started liking the ultramarines. I keep hearing his name in a lot of content in the KZbinrs' videos. Great job man. I loved it. :)

That’s not how things went down in Guilliman’s shrine. Tensions were high between the celestinian crusade and Calgar’s forces because to revive the primarch, he’d first have to die. Then the black legion attacked and Cawl and Yvraine took the opportunity to commence Guilliman’s revival. If he had a clean shot, Calrgar would’ve gunned them both down.

Changing Calgar's lore as being an imposter who took his "master's" name did nothing to add to his lore but actually diminished it especially when you consider that in the Ultramar region families know and celebrate their sons who make it into the ultramarines going as far as building statues and gaining status and pride... basically they just want us to believe that everyone knows that he is an imposter but just casually brushes it off, what about the pride of his family? are we to believe that Marneus is content with increasing Calgar's family name while his very own continues to toil in servitude, especially considering just how much legendary shit this man did and how much he's revered in the entire imperium.
