I keep hearing from trusted teachers, that a story like yours is really common in female church groups. Do you think it really is? I’m just now starting to get involved in women groups, and I’m kind of terrified hearing this stuff. I’m so glad that you saw the truth of it, and chose to stop. But how do I prepare to speak truth, if I see women acting that way? What would you have wanted someone to say to you, to graciously point it out?

Sometimes we need 1 friend who knows how to keep information. Someone totally sold out to you who will never ever repeat stuff but who listens and prays for you. I have 1 or 2 such friends. They never talk about others and I have found that they can guide me when I am wrong and they love me to bits..

Women's ministry has turned into entertainment and social club. It absolutely is not about the word of God, or even our sanctification. It's basically a life coaching club, it is NOT about dying to ourselves. I can't stand the state of women's ministry in America. Bravo 👏 yes! We need a mission as women, what is the mission? It’s super interesting to me, when I hear about this sort of gossiping women group dynamic. I was raised by a single dad, I was a tom boy, then I was in the military. So now as an adult wife and mother, I’m just now starting to experience the “female group” sort of atmosphere. And holy hanna is it different from guys!!!

@@kenroc546 If that's the case, you might want to find a biblical church... The women should be reflective of the church as a whole. I'm a former police officer and soldier, and never got along with large groups of women. However, when we found our new, very biblical church, I found a connection to the women because they are actually Godly women, who have loved me and taught me so much.

My previous female friend group would be red in the face from anger if they watched this. I could no longer be friends with them as they were following hard after American Evangelical Feminism. Even between my mom and I there's a stark theological difference between how we view women in leadership. It's so encouraging to hear a woman who holds the same beliefs that I do, while at the same time challenging me on accountability.

The church I grew up in had a very good women's ministry. They catered to funeral dinners, did various things to raise money for things needed for the church, etc. They rarely did things that wasn't doing some type of help. They would do dinners and invite the husbands! The only thing I think could have been better is that the older women should have been teaching the younger women how to love their husbands and to work at home, just like the Bible says.

Colossians 2:16-17 Earlier in Colossians 2, Paul says that because we are in Christ, we are circumcised with a circumcision made without hands. If you believe we must submit to all of the Sabbath commandments, then you must also require circumcision. And if you require circumcision, you have a false gospel and a misunderstanding in what the New Covenant is all about. The Law is nothing to us today except for a tutor to lead us to Christ so we can be justified by faith. And when we have faith, we do not need a tutor any longer (Galatians 3:24-25). Press on and continue to learn the truth of Christ!

If that is the case then are you suggesting to me that I should not follow the command 'Thou shall not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain? I mean I don't see that ANYWHERE in the New Testament. A matter fact, outside of Exodus and Deuteronomy where the Ten Commandments can be found, this particular commandment as far as I know, is not recorder ANYWHERE ELSE. So, tell me if I can throw that one away. Btw, Jesus said the sabbath was made for MAN not for the Jew, not for church-goers, not just for one single sect or people but MANKIND.

I agree with Rachel so very much. The problem (not that the problem changes what God is saying in the Scriptures) is that the pastors are not necessarily worthy of being followed. After the Southern Baptist Convention mess (just for one example) and the direction that pastors are taking us, it is hard to accept many pastors' leadership. Seminaries are not teaching truth. So then what?

I agree. The men's ministry at my former church would put on men's breakfasts where everyone got together to talk about politics, golf, and work. Sadly there were all these little ingroups that often overlooked newcomers or visitors. The pastor would give an easy message at the end but it didn't seem to be the main focus. I'm glad I got out of there.

Confession must include repentance and turning away from our sin, burning that bridge and not just putting it into our secret sin closet to be brought out on another day. I say this from personal experience. I was not truly saved until God granted me full repentance, which resulted in real release from and victory over my debilitating sin.

I agree that feminism is a cancer to women, but I would also add that feminism is cancer to men. Both men and women have abandoned their God given and defined roles. They have also abandoned both emotional and spiritual maturity in favor of being eternal adolescents ruled by their emotions.

This just popped up on my watch list and I appreciate this video and topic. I'm 43, no kids, divorced and newly out of WOF prosperity gospel. I have begun attending a Reformed leaning Baptist church in the DFW area. As I study more and learn more about the Bible, I am struggling to find my place in the church though I realize by God's providence, where I've come from in my past will be used for His glory. I would love to get remarried as my divorce was Biblical and I believe that desire has not been taken away by the Lord. I just wish there were more women or men who spoke to those of us in the reformed church who are not typical...not typically who have married an equally yoked person and found that Godly spouse who teaches them and raised children with each other. I need Biblical guidance on what am I supposed to do when I will never be a mother from my womb. I won't have babies with my next husband. I have a high paying mktg career I've been in for 20 yrs and I'd give it all up for my God honoring husband but as a single woman without one...it's how I take care of myself. So I struggle with only finding videos and podcasts how I should be as a mother and wife. I'm looking into seminary classes online bc I don't have a husband to teach me and my church and elders are great but my church is very much families with children and that's their focus as well.

Divorce is not biblical. I mean this with the highest regard to marriage. Refunding something we .....may have entered sinfully is disheartening to think God offers refundable marriages yet would come for his bride.aka the prostitute(US)that he washes white as snow. A second marriage would compound your problem unfortunately. God will do wonders in honoring the marriage you chose to enter. We know God hates divorce therefore by no meanns will GOD take lightly marriage. It is a beautiful sacred covenant to be upheld that God makes. Not trampled, disposed, disreagarded regardless of rape abuse abandonment fiscal financing irresponsibility. We've literally trampled Christ but yet while we were in sin Christ died for us. Let us bear each our own cross and follow him. I will be praying for you. Your testimony of overcoming will bring hope to others rather than a testimony of checking out on your husband. Bible even says love your enemy's. The most loving advice I can give you is go be reconciled when the furnace mellows 😉 Thank you God for disciplining your children and correcting us and redirecting us and restoring the brokenness in our hearts and lives. This is similar to a situation in which one is unequally yoked and the husband does not pursue the things of God. I can speak from personal experience on this. What was helpful to me was simply getting into the Word and praying for understanding, and just pursuing it with everything you have. All that we need in order to know what God has for us is in there, according to 2 Tim 3:16-17. So I guess what I'm saying is we learn to be a Christian first and foremost, and the Word and the Spirit will guide us to the places He wants us to go. Reading and absorbing all the preaching you can from men who will actually teach from the Word, whether they be your from your local church, or books, online videos, etc., is going to be very helpful. I would just advise that you not look for teaching directed at women. It's going to be directed in the main at mothers and how to be a good mother and/or wife, and you require teaching on how to be a good Christian. Seminary sounds great too, btw. Presently, as a single woman, you don't have all the constraints that family women have to deal with. Your service to the Lord can actually be greater and without all the distractions and impediments that family women have. Pray that the Lord guide you to make the most of this privilege.

Hi Patricia. Your comment broke my heart as it is the case in many churches today, and often married/widowed women miss the opportunity to minister to single women, as well as point them toward ministry opportunities. I don't know if you're an older or younger single, but there are places you can serve, regardless of age and marital status. We just started up a Titus 2 ministry, where older women mentor younger women. Maybe you can encourage your church to start something like this. Our church also has a Bright Lights girl's ministry, which needs godly women of all ages to lead and teach, single, married, widowed, etc. Your church may not have this, but do some research and start something like it. Also, if you have a kitchen ministry, and you like cooking, see if you can serve there. Visit shut ins, and bring them a meal, pray with them, etc. Just some thoughts. I'll pray for opportunities and a dear sister who might mentor you. ❤️🙏🙌

I remember many years ago when I was a child, the women would go and visit shut ins. So many lonely, elderly people are starved for a bit of attention and conversation, ESPECIALLY now. The value of human connections is vitally important to the elderly. Just a short visit, even if it’s just a phone call can mean so much.

The Bible “bans” women from teaching doctrine from an expositional perspective, based on 1 Timothy 2:12-14. The reason is because women are more easily deceived. They can pass on the teaching of the pastor, but not create their own expositional teaching. If they step out of this role, Paul says it will lead to the word of God being reviled Titus 2:5b

Obviously, by applying basic hermeneutic principles, the word "saved" in this context does not refer to salvation from sin, but rather, they are "saved" from a life without purpose or dignity. As is many times the case with Paul, he anticipates the arguments he might receive by answering his critics before they can voice their objections (see Romans 9 for example). In this case, the logical retort to his statement regarding not allowing women to teach or exercise authority might be "well, what is our purpose then, and how can we as godly women serve God?". He responds by stating that women can find their highest purpose and dignity in the raising of godly offspring, which is God's plan for the family (see Deut. 6:6-9; Prov. 22:6; Mal. 2:14,15; 2 Tim. 3:15, etc.). This is an important lesson for our generation, when we as a society are denigrating motherhood and even encouraging the slaughter of the unborn.

If they need marital counseling, women should counsel women, and men should counsel men. The Bible says the older women should teach (counsel) the younger women to love their husbands and to work at home. I could see the pastor and his wife counseling a married couple together though.

Yes, it belittles women to separate them out from the men in the church. There is as much diversity among women as there is among men and women together, and it does a real disservice, to single women especially, to separate them from their Christian brothers with whom they may have more in common than other women in the church who have a stereotyped idea about what women need.

Interesting discussion. I would add emphasis to Titus 2, not that Titus 2 is exhaustive list and of topics for women’s ministry, but essential. Mischief follows where Titus 2 is ignored or occluded by any other emphases. Women are to be taught how to LOVE (volitionally not just emotionally) their husband and children. They are to avoid blasphemy of Word which is the result of disobedience to their husband. Because the home is the locus of feminine ministry, the family structure and order as designed by God must be supported, neither neglected nor disparaged. So when a wife or daughter has a question about theology, she does not ask the pastor, but she asks her husband who is the pastor of the home. The most loving and righteous thing a pastor or women’s ministry should attempt, is to add support for the husband’s home ministry by encouraging a wife to get under her husband’s headship and encourage a husband to fulfill his role to become the resident theologian who washes and waters her in the Word. Joel, the church is craven; she is loath to teach women submission and obedience. In over 60 years of church attendance, I have not once heard an exhortation to stop defrauding sexually or that divorce is apostasy, both sins are for more prevalent in wives than husbands. (Women initiate divorce more than 2x than men.) I cannot recall ever hearing that restraining a contentious wife is as futile as holding the wind or grasping oil in a bare hand. I have, however heard countless messages deriding male sexuality, depicting men as brutes to be tamed, lazy good for nothing obstacles to a woman’s angelic vision of the home. I have never seen the advertisement for a woman’s retreat with the theme “How to better love your husband and children”. In a culture that murders children and breaking covenant is more common than till death do part, the church has utterly failed to function as the ground and pillar of truth. She has traded her birthright for a mess of pottage from a corrupt and dying culture, a culture and of death. IMO- Pastors are threatened by patriarchs who open the Bible at home and exposite faithfully, who know theology or are willing to study and who labor to pastor the family, that is their job or so they think. After all they went to seminary, so they have the MDiv, thus they are the expert. In this and countless other ways the church often violates the sphere of the home and then complains “where are all the men?” I could go on… and on, but I am preaching to the choir. This is not directed at you or others who hold to biblical patriarchy as the Lord’s blueprint for the home. It is a lamentation on the state of the church and the family. While we strain at gnats like how much water to use in baptism, we swallow camels whole like enabling blasphemy of the Word.

The shortcomings of ministry period is when individuals crossover, to metaphysics, philosophy, psychology, psychiatry, humanities, or social sciences. We need to have a Berean affection, approach, and appreciation for the Word of ADONAI. We need to have a knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures. I disagree that it belittles women or is demeaning to them. I don't think it's belittling someone when you're simply following the rules that they themselves set. When modern women hear something they don't like, they immediately pull out their misogyny card. It has become not okay to criticize female people in today's society. If you didn't call out women for something because you were afraid they couldn't handle it, then that would be demeaning. But when you don't call out women for something because they'll pitch a fit and scream about sexism if you do call them out, then that's on the women. That's not you being demeaning, that's them refusing to hold themselves to a standard of being a responsible adult accountable for their actions. Society has let feminism run amok to where women are automatically stunning and brave simply for being female, and anything negative said about them is automatically sexism. We're in a society that is just as full of toxic femininity as it is of toxic masculinity but it is socially unacceptable to point this out. Of course it should go without saying but in case it doesn't I will point out that I am NOT talking about ALL women, most women are emotionally stable intelligent adults, it's just the noisy fringe that are getting all the attention and setting these absurd rules rules that are damaging to society.

I try to keep my eye on the bigger picture with that being God and what his will is for me and that is to serve pray and study His word. The church I go to only men can be elders or pastors which is scripturally sound but it still is a largely feminized Church. I don't ever see them calling upon to bring attention to some of the things mentioned in this video, part of your tithing money is going to support a women's recovery ministry with an abysmal success rate, what they perceive as empathy I perceive as enabling. Proverbs 7:11 would be a fair description of some of the women in our church.

I'm curious about what you think of men's Bible studies. They are also focused on self-development. Some groups have intentions (accountability, ect.). From your perspectives, how do men's Bible studies compare to your critique of women's Bible studies? I enjoyed learning about the history of women's ministry. The only thing that stood out to me was a lack of clarity on some points. Maybe you think there are obvious inferences, but some listeners may assume that you are talking about all women. For example, not working is simply not an option for some women. Spouses are sometimes mentally unable to hear about issues and choose to work on them, so professional counseling (or intervention from church leaders) is necessary.

Men tend to not attend men’s Bible studies with the same frequency that women do. The phenomenon has less traction in the western church. Having said that ... yes. To the extent that men’s Bible studies are inward focused they are as much of a problem.

There are no trivial matters in scriptures. One thing which you may call trivial, may lead to other misunderstandings, which eventually lead people to become false prophets, of which you complain. For example, a lot of those televangelists are scammers who use their position of authority and fame to pressure people into donating money to them. And they are able to get away with it, because some churches thought that talking about tithes and money was a trivial thing.

I can’t get past 16 minutes, so maybe you guys eventually brought it up, but there wasn’t a single mention of single or childless women. As if a woman’s highest calling is to serve her husband and children. As if single women don’t exist, or it’s shameful to be. This podcast was disheartening and continues to ostracize a demographic that already feels quite ostracized within the church.

I would imagine the role in the church for single women would be similar to the role of single men. Since we have more time, we can devote that to prayer and studying the word. And finding ways to serve in the church. But I agree. Single people are often neglected in church and aren't really given an outlet to use their talents.

It's important to acknowledge that both men and women were given dominion in Genesis 1, and God joins them together in marriage for his glory and purposes. It is also important that we recognize what is required of us is dynamic and at times unexpected, but always needs to be jointly faced. Too many people judge men and women along preset boxes without inquiring about how God distributed talents and calling, or how callings were confirmed through prayer. On the note about elder women teaching the younger, understand that Paul was not obsessed with chronological age as if it is a proxy for wisdom (evidence - see his advice to Timothy). Rather, he was focused on spiritual maturity - evidenced by his milk/meat metaphor. Elder women is the term presbytidas - you'll recognize the same root as Presbyterian or a system of elders. So, yes, there are female elders in the early church with a ministry working with younger women. Some might call the younger baby Christians. The command to love one's husband is echoed in the two greatest commandments: love God with all your heart/soul/strength, and love your neighbor as yourself - everything hangs on these two. These are the basics of Christian duty, and what our female elders should be teaching the less spiritually mature. So...leaders of women's ministry should be selected by their spiritual maturity and ability to demonstrate these basic Christian commands, no matter their physical/chrono age. Also important to note men are held to the same standard of these top commands, as Paul exhorts husbands to love and nurture their wives.

Why are so many married women are so attracted to the Pentecostal movement, they don’t speak to their husbands about the Bible’s teachings because the husband is never observed openly reading his bible, praying or leading , worshiping and taking his family to church. What sin would exist that when confessed to Christ and then repeated over and over is actually showing that the person has repented of that sin? None exists. The reason the believer is disappointed is because they have not reached repentance for that sin. They are not ready to give it to God. It is not that you cannot have someone encourage you but if they are encouraging you to keep on in sin and claiming to give it to Christ, the friend is doing you a disservice. The proper response to that sinner would be to call out their lack of repentance. The way Rachel is addressing this is that we do not need to confess to a friend as they have zero ability to make that repentance occur!

Theologically, I think that self loathing is just a form of self idolatry. When you fully realize how insignificant you are, you don’t self pity and self loath. And to do so, is showing that you really think much to highly of yourself. We have to stop focusing on ourselves, and focus on fulfilling our role. God will bring us joy when we decide to walk in obedience. He will show us joy and satisfaction, while we serve our family. Not before, while we do nothing, and sit around feeling bad for ourself. In fact God punishes those who walk in rebellion. So nothing will improve until you just get up, and do the things you’re supposed to do. Obey, serve, think higher of others then yourself, and pray. And joy and satisfaction will be given unto you. ♥️🙏🏽

The Christian walk is one of continual repentance and sanctification. As you read the bible, God speaks to you and reveals to you things that you need to change in your life. This is so critical and inaccurate of many women's ministries. I'm sure it is true of some, but to sweep this brush across women's ministries is so unfair. I've been a part of many transforming women's ministries who are not "wallowing" or "whining together" but spurring each other on to greater things in the Lord! Greater obedience! What is wrong with going to church on Sunday and joining another encouraging group midweek? You make it sound like it's self-indulgent. I'm sorry, this was far too negative. I am disappointed in this episode. Whenever I happen upon one of these videos (of which there are MANY) where 2 Timothy 2 :12 is quoted, I am reminded of what one pastor said about how the church has used Paul’s epistles. He said that what the church has done is the same as someone taking the letters that were addressed to SOMEONE ELSE, for themselves. Yep! That is indeed what has happened. So, imagine (my thoughts now), Jim writes to his sister Amy and her friend Jane while visiting her one day, sees the letter, read the contents and proceeds to LITERALLY apply it to herself. MADNESS isn’t it? Yes! Madness indeed. Yet this is what the ‘church’ has done and has been in an eternal battle arguing WITHIN ITSELF about what Paul said and what Paul meant when he said what he said and so on. MADNESS! Another kind of MADNESS is the belief that a woman can teach children (BOYS and girls) but as soon as the BOY becomes a MAN (18 years????), she is NO LONGER qualified to teach him. This is not only MADNESS but STUPIDITY, IDIOCY and ASSININITY. Well, I am not mad or stupid. I am not a Roman, Corinthian, etc. I am not a ‘silly woman laden with sins.’ I am a CHILD OF GOD, a truly LIBERATED WOMAN according to the LIBERTY that can be found in CHRIST JESUS. A woman in whom GOD’s spirit dwells and who has endowed me with a number of talents and gifts one of which is TEACHING. I don’t need ANY HUMAN BEING to validate my gifts by giving me a title or position because as Sinach sang “I KNOW WHO I AM."

Womens ministry or mens ministry is both seperating the little time they get tpgether for something else. Family together is the only ministry anyone can do. In this era where out of family is like, me time for people that have induced that bad culture allover. As if children are for friends or education, family is a terrible place as if eternatinment is essential for life and the evils list against family goes on forever. In this church is not less with their agenda where it becomes tough to have life anywhere.
