A few tips that I've learned which aren't spoilers to the game. The path to the card reader always has stars and moons hanging above it. Destroy the training dummies, they will give you some wood, in fact just destroy everything in every room since you can also get hearts and grass.

Another tip, if you are fast enough to kill the random birds or jellyfish, you can meat (from the birds) or fish (from the jellyfish)

I love how taking care of your cult is an actual game mechanic. Most of the cults I see on movies and TV are just there for creep factor and nothing else. Like "aaaaah look at the scary cult they have weird masks and robes and their doing weird ritual shit so spooooooky". Ironically enough, this game has a more realistic depiction of an actual cult than anything else I've seen. You have to actually feed them and take care of their hygiene to make sure illnesses don't spread. You need to give them jobs so that they can gather resources so the settlement is actually self-sustainable. You actually need to give them sermons and establish doctrines so that they stay faithful. These are very important aspects that don't really get addressed in other media, it's usually just creepy chants or spooky blood rituals. This game didn't need to go out of the way to add all those details, but it did, and I really respect the devs for that. Also, the artstyle fucking rules, I love it. Reminds of Neytirix who can casually draw both really disturbing and gorey art, and also really cute and fluffy art.

Unless they fix it in the next update, avoid placing too many decoration tiles, as they get quite buggy the more you have. As a result of how many I've personally placed, they constantly change to different tiles depending on how far away I am, sometimes appear or disappear entirely from some locations, and I quite literally cannot remove them anymore because they just show back up as soon as the area gets reloaded.
