I knocked one hour yesterday, but it felt like I had knocked 100 hours. I had 8 rejections in a row. I hopped in my car, drove to the next block. I sat there frustrated. I eventually decided to stop throwing myself a pity party (ridiculous, I know!) and I got out of my car. I went up to the first house. I nervously said hello and did my best with the SLAP formula. Well, she said - "What are you waiting for? Get on up there!" I couldn't believe it. I got her to sign the contract !

I look at it as the people we talk to pay their insurance for a reason, they need their inspection, they need to be putting something they pay for to use… we are simply helping them to get what they pay for

One of the new small goal I set for myself every week is, "2 by Wednesday." It's a small goal with 3 days to accomplish. It takes the fear of failure and makes it smaller. My goal is 2, since starting this I've hit this goal 3 weeks in a role and went on to break 4-6 sales by Friday. It helps me appreciate the little things and put more attention to individual homeowners and has easily led to referrals each week. Also I thought to mention, I am starting my 3rd month next week. Biggest advice since I have a lot of canvassing experience, never take rejection personally and don't take the home owner's frustration personally. When I did landscaping on my own in high school there was never a single time that I went out and didn't find work even with entire landscaping crews all over the place. Fear and discouragement are probably the only things stopping you from success in sales. One thing I tell myself is there are plenty of fish, there's tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands or millions of home owners, nobody is going to get every roof, if you think EVERY house has been knocked you're defeating yourself because they haven't. There's roofs out there with your name on it you just gotta go find it.

I’m starting to get burnt out after the last few weeks brother. I had to put my oldest pup down two weeks ago and have been in a funk. I had to put my blinders on this week and put my head down back into knocking until the 2nd week of December.

Been there myself... looking for the easy sale to jump out and bite me in the face 😆Glad you can relate - I think we've all been there. In terms of leaving letters - it doesn't matter the scenario - there's a letter you can use. Old damage, new damage, after singing a new customer - alerting homeowners of an upcoming build - you name it!

I’m needing help on turning potential customers. Many houses with a sign and no restoration after 3 months in my area (post hail storm). How should I be polite and find out why no action has been taken with their roofer. I’m ready to go and can take of them within, typically, a couple of weeks. Maybe the holdups are on home owner or maybe roofer…Want to investigate where they are in this situation. Welcome some feedback! Thanks

This is a great question - a moral question indeed. Although some people have no problem "walking signs" of other contractors, it's not something that I stand behind. At the same time, if you've seen yard signs up for months I would recommend treading lightly. Option 1: Cruise the neighborhood on a weekend and catch folks who are outside so you can spark a casual conversation to find out what's up. Option 2: Send a direct mail letter (or leave one at the door) asking if they still need help because you couldn't help but notice. Just be polite - I HATE poachers (especially sleazy ones), but I also know that some companies are using slimy practices to get folks locked in. Hope this helps get ya going!

how do you go about selling when the person answers via ring camera. i’ve just started knocking(maybe 2 hours or so) and i’ve already noticed 8 or so people answering with their ring camera and its a little bit of a weird situation to try and get them to say yes to an inspection. if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated!!

Great question. Your job is to figure out that number for YOU so you can predict it. As you develop your skillsets, get traction in a neighborhood, and develop your reputation - the # of doors will continually shrink. 60 doors per deal is a conservative number to target as you get going. But yes - some people report every 5-10.
