Glad she’s got a home. I’ve fostered 25 dogs mostly rotts, a few GSD’s, owned 6 rotts. A piece of advice, no matter what the circumstances, always kennel a dog for a couple weeks before introducing to your own pack. I never let them interact directly with my pack, time is variable and depends on dogs behavior. New dog gets time to get to know and observe your pack while everyone is safe. I’ve had some fosters that could not be integrated into my pack, others could. I have two now that cannot be with other dogs and never got adopted. They are outdoor heated kennel dogs. One was a cruelty seizure by animal control in Baltimore. He’s my baby now but has an attitude with other people and dogs. You do what you can. Not all dogs will fit with other dogs. Thanks for trying, she’ll have a better life now. You did a good thing saving her. Rotts are a great breed, but are not for most people. Oh, you didn’t fail. She has a great home. That was the point.

@@dianesokolowski686 EXACTLY!! Please look at my posts way up in this thread. Actually, they may be at the very top. I'm not a dog owner but I LOVE dogs. I had dogs throughout my childhood. I'm no expert at all. No experience in training them. However, I do have an innate intuitiveness for humans and animals, especially cats and dogs. I was EXAUHSTED at what she was put through in her very first hours of being in a new home. They KNEW she was exhausted because she slept through the entire trip home... 2 hrs. long. I'm shocked that she didn't react with anger because of simply being exhausted.

That is exactly what a responsible dog owner, who understands dog nature, acts. With patience, full supervision and care. Such responsible owner gives to such complex task with unknown variables all of his attention. You don't try to multitask when it comes to the safety and security of your dogs and yourself.
@amymbeauty87653 жыл бұрын
And exactly how it should be done. With adult dogs, you should never expect then to be comfortable around other animals within a week. Especially after never being part of a pack life like that. I’m so sorry to hear about this heartbreaking event. However, I’m extremely proud and appreciative of your openness and honesty about it. Even when we’ve done everything right as an owner, as you have, these types of situations can occur. I commend you both for your understanding, compassion and kindness for Lexi and your tough, but responsible decision to find her a better forever home where she can be properly loved and cared for without traumatizing her and the other pack members. As a trainer and owner myself, the FIRST thing I tell people is that as an owner of Rotties and other strong willed breeds, we have to be willing to be responsible for the whole of owning and training them. This sometimes means making tough decisions when situations like this arise. Sometimes rehoming is best for the dog and our pack or family. For the followers: This is NEVER an easy decision, but it’s better than the potential alternative for the health of Colin’s & Sam’s pack and for Lexi. There is no scam when there’s true love and respect for the welfare of an animal!

We rescued a rottie, who was the kindest most lovable rottie EVER. We were completely uninformed about her epilepsy condition. It would not have made a difference, but I feel it is the responsibility of the facility to inform the adopters. We loved our poor Kenzie until she passed away 1.5 yr. after adopting her. Good luck in your endeavor finding her a good forever home.

Kudos to you guys. Not once did you blame the dogs and you know what's best for Lexi and realise that for her to be her best self, she needs to be in another home. I know you will find the best home for her. Thank you for saving her 💖💖💖

She was so neglected and not socialized properly. You still saved her, she just needs to be the queen of a single dog household. Based on the ear knick she hasn't had the best experience with other dogs. Thank you for saving her.

You saved a living being in need from a situaton that was hurting her. It's nobody's fault but the first owner that she got screwed up. you did the best you could do to unscrew her. too bad she did not get by with baby bear. i'm glad she got a home with someone who loves her and can take care of her. I call that a success and i salute you. You kind sir are a boon to mankind and an even better ambassador for rotties all over the world. Love and hugs from Germany.

I had a similar incident with my 130lb female and 2 70ish pitbulls. I got bit slightly. The power and stubbornness of a rotti is unbelievable. She didnt start it but sure ended it. Didnt think I would ever get her to release the instigator. Good job.

We have a wonderful rescue female Rottie...adopted, returned as she could not get along with adopters male. All neutered. Now, she does not get along with our rescue docile lady Great Pyr.. we do have to manage dog traffic. Our Rottie had gone thru hell...and is Alpha or else. Incredibly sweet, Daddy’s girl.

My brother, I am an avid Rottie lover, having had several over the time. It both makes me sad and proud to see what you have done for Lexi. It’s a true testament to people owning a dog for the sake of having a dog, having the wrong dog. We all know, if you own a Rottie, there is definitely a few must do’s. I’m in Australia and love your channel, but if there was a way for me to help, I would. I have the same emotional attachment to my girl, as you do with yours. You’re a true champion, and have all my respect. Screw those who think you’re a scammer or after something different to what you’re asking for.

All she needs is a home by herself so she can be more socialized. Then she can relax more and be animal socialized. It was just too soon to be around others. She will get there. She is a beauty.

You did the best thing for all the dogs. I tried to adopt a second rescue dog twice and both times they attacked my dog, the first after 2 days and the second after a month and a half. Some dogs should be the only dog. It was tough but you have to protect your family.
