We are visiting Efteling for the first time! Welcome back for part 2 visiting the most magical theme park! We absolutely ADORE this park and got season passes so we can go back and visit regularly over the next year. While we weren't able to get to every ride or see every experience on our first trip, we will share future vlogs as we go back and visit this beautiful park in the Netherlands! You SHOULD come back, since you already missed the in my eyes best attraction De Vliegende Hollander (The Flying Dutchman), the theming is on another level in that one and the station is maybe the most beautiful I have ever seen, thumbs up from the Netherlands and I subscribed!

@@CompassChronicleTravels Make sure to go outside of the dutch holidays, that reduces your waiting times by 10x. Just been there the week after you, and to give some numbers: droomvlucht was 0-5min, we skipped Symbolica several times because waiting time was too much (15min) etc ;) and: make sure to include Vliegende Hollander (flying dutchman) - the queue itself is already fantastic! Python is a classic, but I like 'Joris & De Draak' better. Oh, yes: blue / red both can win. BTW: you ended your trip where Efteling started.

@@CompassChronicleTravels Well, most of the times the splash on De Vliegende Hollander is just a few drops, but my wife and I came out of it completely soaked as well, so that is also possible!

De Efteling was created based on the work of Anton Pieck, a popular artist and illustrator at the time, who has a distinct romantic/nostalgic style with a special eye for the old and time-worn. He designed the fairytale forest, and his work continues to guide the designs of the newer rides as they all have to roughly conform to the same style. Walking in de Efteling in supposed to feel like you are walking into one of his illustrations; a cobwebbed and candle-lit pastoral world where folk history and fantasy meet. The beauty of de Efteling is the degree to which they have always stayed committed to this vision down to the smallest detail.

Oh wow! What a beautiful explanation of the parks background and intention. It is such a beautifully artistic style and I would say they have very much succeeded and THEN some. We absolutely fell in love with the entire feel of Efteling, aside from even the quality of the rides it houses. Can’t wait for our next visit! 💕

Efteling in the dark is always something special. From about late October, it will be dark around 6 p.m., so you can see the water show in it's full splendor. Also, the fairy tale forest is nicely lit after dark. The park is open every day of the year so make the best use of that. Just try to stay outside weekends and holidays.

When I do the boat ride I usually buy a meal at the Toko (where you also bought lunch) and then eat it in the boats. Perfect and seating guaranteed which is also dry during the rain :D

i can relate to Romy, watching this as a Dutch person, enjoying people finding and/or discovering the efteling is amazing. Enjoyed your discover videos and im actually quite impressed you managed to find something transelations to English, even tho Efteling actually is one of the few parcs (besides disney) that also uses english transelations normally. Unfortunatly your visit is pretty much right in the "maintenace season" of the parc, unfortunatly! I absolutely enjoyed it here and hope you visit other parks in our country...altough they are not anywhere near what the efteling is! Also; Spookybos? - Hilarious lmao! actually transelates to Fairy-tale forest Some intresting facts; The dustbins are called "Holle bolle Gijs " which roughly transelates to Big ol fast Gijs (bit akward really)... but its a great invention on which Gijs repeatedly says "papier hier" which means "paper here". teaches childern to dispose their waste at Gijs rather then throwing it in the parc, making it clean. Its a big invention made by the parc to remain as green as what the efteling is trying to be. Lots of greenery, and A LOT of regulations on what the parc is allowed to do. They have to maintain a percentage of the parc nature and is not allowed to decrease. For rough example; lets say the parc has 40% of nature and 60% of buildings. Efteling is not allowed to build more than 60% if that means the 40% of nature is taken away. If they are to build above the limit they will have to remove pieces of the parc and transform it to a nature part. Pretty interesting really.. Netherlands also has a building height ban which means they have to request a lot of permits if they were to build alot of stuff up. Pretty sure parc like phantasialand also have these restrictions.

Hahaha we knew we had to be saying that word absolutely terribly 🤣🤣🤣. One of these days we will get it! Haha. What a clever idea on the bins for the kids! And it’s funny you say that about the regulations because we had heard of that but got confused whether it was Phantasialand or Efteling and decided it was Phantasialand. It's so lovely! There was just too much to see in one day. They have lots of coasters and some relaxing rides, dark rides, boat rides...they're really well rounded! And it's just a magical park! Never heard of Efteling before, but looks like a great funpark. Cute and funny and lots of rollercoasters. A park much to explore and based on fairytales. Great! Something different than Disneyland. By the way, that thing your husbad ate is called a Nougathörnchen in Germany. I wish you more a great time and lots of amazing explores here in Germany and in Europe, wehre ever you go!

@@CompassChronicleTravels hey, i just right now found another theme park, near Paris in France. The Parc Astérix. Lots of roller coasters. Not as nice styled as Efteling or Phantasiland, far from it, but the roller coasters seems intense too. Maybe the french speaking sutff members may be unfriendly, if you do not speak much french or poperly, but whatever. For the case you never heared of Asterix, it is a french comic figure. It is known world wide, but very popular here in Europe. Often unknown in USA.

Very great video! Growing up close to Efteling meant going each year once or twice at least, and now that I'm older and visit more parks most feel underwhelming compared to Efteling 😅 Almost all attractions have such beautiful fairytales behind them. Even the rollercoasters like Joris en de Draak, for which the tale goes that there was a big dragon close to a village that ate a sheep everyday. On some day, the sheeps were all eaten and the dragon started eating young girls from the village. The king of the village did a lottery every night to decide which girl should be eaten, until the day the lottery picked the name of his own daughter. That's when he decided to ask people in the village to conquer the dragon. One tried it with fire, one with water. In the end, Joris managed to kill the dragon with wisdom.

You should come back and see aquanura when it is dark. More magical in the dark. You went into sprookjesbos, also fairytailforest. All of the fairytails are known by everyone i think. At back of Pinoccio you can see Gepetto. Loved your vlog again 😊

It was nice that you found the "Sprookjesbos"at the end of the day. Next time try to go for the older parts of the park that to my idea are still the best. When it was build in the 1950's, labour was relatively cheap, so the amount of detail is insane. It is the only theme park, I never have gotten bored with and enjoy returning to.

We definitely will do that! I wanted to hang there much much longer in the forest and we heard there is a museum as well? The detail definitely is insane. You can tell how much love and heart went into the park. It really feels like, as you said, a park you can go to over and over and always discover something new!

If you have the change, look up / visit the Winter Efteling; the entire park get's themed in a winter-theme (think Christmas market), and you'll have the ability to enjoy the water show, in the dark, at 6pm, because it gets dark so early. Not all roller coasters are open and the park closes very early, but the park is even more beautiful to walk trough (you'll enjoy the Sprookjesbos even more, I think).

Ohh you skipped the most themed coaster. For the next trip go on the flying dutchman - the aqua coaster. My absolute favorite by means of theming. It is also a darkride. Love seeing you guys explore the efteling. It is my most favorite theme park and i have been visiting every year since i was little.

Love seeing you enjoying me homepark. As you live in germany i would suggest the following theme parks. My personal favorite is Phantasialand then Europapark after that its Hansapark and Tripsdrill, since you have seinzone pass on efteling i would suggest also going to Moviepark germany since that one is also free on it. And ofcourse do toverland in the Netherlands to.

Vogel means Bird. It is out of the stories of a 1001nights. Thats the Magic of Efteling. Detail and almost everything has a story to it. The tow boat ride is great to relax and have a lunch in. The ride last for like 20 minutes. The flying Dutchman is my favorite ride. That and the fairy tale forrest. I love to get lost in it.

Ahhh ok that makes sense! And yesss! The magic! It’s so incredible and you truly feel transported somewhere else…somehow relaxing as a park as well. We are sad we didn’t get to the Flying Dutchman but will be back hopefully within a few weeks to explore what we missed. That includes getting lost in the fairytale forest! @@CompassChronicleTravels for the fairy tale forrest, stay on the red bricks than you come pass all the fairytales. The yellow bricks are the short cuts. And when you are in front of the dragon look up. You see a broom hang in the trees like a witch had a accident. That is one of the details in the forrest. And there are countless of them there.

@@CompassChronicleTravels that it feels like a park is also correct. The Efteling is still a nature park. They can only build a certain amount of the grounds. A part has to remain for plants, flower, water and trees. It also is a foundation. Meaning there are no investers and all the profit flows back to the park. So it really is a themepark unlike any other.

It really is a park as you say, which actually greatly adds to its magic and charm! Really interesting too about there being no investors! I would argue that is a really good thing. I much prefer when things stay true to their personality and aren't influenced by outside factors or individuals.

Fun fact: It's said that Walt Disney himself came to the Efteling for inspiration for the parc in California. It's never confirmed so it's a rumor. But it is a big one as even Ted Crowell is known for believing it. Their are no witnesses or pictures of the visit but it is not unbelievable as Walt Disney has in fact been in Denmark for inspiration for his parc.

I normally don’t go to non-Disney parks because I like dark rides and most non-Disney parks only have 1 or 2 dark rides (sometimes even 0), but it seems like Efteling has a pretty good amount of dark rides.

Totally get that! I’m a big dark ride fan as well! We have been to a couple parks since being in Europe that have had a solid amount. We love coasters too, but I’m especially a sucker for the dark rides. The dark rides Efteling has are some of the best we’ve ever done-absolutely top notch! Well worth doing!

If you ever come close to the Netherlands make sure to spend 2 days in Efteling just take youre time and explore. I'm not saying the dark rides are better then the new stuff in the disneyparks but its defently on par or better then the older stuff. Besides its a lovely park the onl;y down side is that the park doesn't really have that great a line up of really thrill attreactions its defently family oriented. But if you like darkrides its the number one spot in Europe.

Dark rides are my favorite so I love how diverse the park is and has a little bit of it all. Really want to explore the fairytale forest more also. Really is a perfect exploring park!

Did you find the Little Matchgirl it is my favourite 'house' from the fairytale forest as the effects are wonderful. If you haven't come back and watch it completely through. Also keep an eye out for the donkey who poops gold

Only so many hours in a day. We hit as many highlights as we could. We do realize after going though that we could use multiple days in this park to really see everything. We did a part 1 as well and feel that we were able to accomplish a lot for the time we had driving to and from Germany in the same day. But we will be back and we will share 🤗

@@CompassChronicleTravels Don't fall for this. You visited many of the undisputed highlights of the park (Fata Morgana, Droomvlucht, the fairytale forest, Baron 1898, Joris...) Some might argue about Vogel Rok or Symbolica, but those are also great in my view. So the "missed 90%" is just reaction bait. Of course there are are more things to see, but I don't think there are complete misses where I would tell everyone to steer clear, it mostly depends on ones own interests, so there is still lots to discover in your next visits.
