I didn't choose any of those three that you listed Evan but I'm only about an hour drive from Manila in Silang, Cavite. We only have about a 15 minute drive to Tagaytay and about a 15 minute drive to Laguna. I prefer to live away from the city but not deep into the province. Actually my brother in law on my wife's side picked out the place where we have a house and the first time that I went there was after the house was completed being built and fully paid for. Although I wouldn't recommend doing this it is perfect for me. I just prefer the freedom of having a single family home than living in a building with lots of people even if it's located with lots of amenities nearby in walking distance. City life isn't for everyone and provincial life isn't for everyone and thank God that we all aren't the same.

@@Midwest10 When you live in the downtown of the capital...once you step out of the gate and suddenly got hit by a car in the crazy traffic... You'll be done for as well. You live on the beach somewhere in the small province and no volcano..but then taifun or tsunami hits...you'll be memory too. There is nothing sure in the world...the only thing that is certain is death. This way or that way, everyone will die. You can't secure every single thing in life. The more security measure for prevention you plan would mean the more chain you put on your self. You'll end up making your own life like in a prison. Anyway...everyone should better manage their life according to their own preference and parameter, with the main goal is to be happy and comfortable. If living in the luxury bustling city is your thing and your can afford it then go for it! If living freely in the nature is your passion and you can handle the other inconvenience, why not?! Volcano can kill people, yes, but it's also the one that provide the earth the beautiful nature, fertile soils, precious raw materials to provide the mankind. You just can't have everything in life, so everybody is bound to set a priority and make a choice. That's just how it is 😉.

The problem with BCG and the NCR region is too many people, day or night, just too many people. If you love NYC then I guess you will love BCG, but I have never visited NYC nor do I want to, so I didn't enjoy BCG. I will stick to Davao it feels less crowded even if traffic can be a pain at times, it feels safer and a more honest city.

A lot of people move to places in SE Asia to get away from places like BGC, Makati, Rockwell, etc. A lot of us want something significantly less expensive. What I mean by significant is approx 70% + total monthly expenses than what we're paying for in the West. A lot of us don't want the "city life" being in a crowd, constant noise. We're moving to get away from the crowd, noise & high living expenses. Thank you for your channel.

Husband needs super fast internet for part-time work so a condo is definitely on our list. We also hope to rent a home near beaches so that we can learn the different areas of the country and not tied down to one place. My parents came from PH but I was born in the US. I love BGC, but most BGC related videos never talk about the cost of living if you’re a foreigner with 100% foreign kids, pets etc. Once tuition, certain sports, having to travel home etc are factored in, the cost of living skyrockets to 2-3x what’s typically described as “most expensive.” Wondering if you could do a video on that? ☺️.

As a single person IMO you need atleast 100,000 pesos in BGC. thats paying 30,000 a month for a small apartment. 75,000 pesos a month a single person can live comfortably renting somewhere for 20,000 pesos a month in a non-premium area and running a scooter. This is based on not being a big drinker and a non-smoker.

Just subscribed to your channel - love the comprehensive info. I hope to get some advice before the big trip. I am on a strict carnivore diet. I love seafood, but premium steaks (e.g., ribeyes, T-bones, prime ribs, etc.) are essential to my diet. I only have one meal a day, but with a daily average consumption of 1-2 kg of steaks. I live in Australia, which is among the top 5 beef producers in the world, but I still spend about $15 per day on steaks from the butcher. I could eat up to 5 kg of steaks on busy days, so buffets or all-you-can-eat restaurants become cheaper based on volume. Korean BBQ and Brazilian churrasco restaurants are my frequent destinations. Which regional place in the Philippines would you suggest that may have good sources of meat to cook on my own and/or have more meat-centric restaurants?

Most foreigners to me are all piling up and flocking to one area. You can still find some great affordable places in the Philippines 🇵🇭 most people overlook the Mindanao region why I don’t know but they have wonderful places. It may not be that modern but the places aren’t that bad and the houses and apartments in the Mindanao region are bigger than what u will get in Luzon, negros oriental. The other thing I like about Mindanao region is that it’s more rural it’s not flooded with big corporate businesses and food chains they have more of there own restaurants and stores.Which also is another reason why the Mindanao region is much cheaper Than Luzon and negros original. Mindanao region is much cleaner too and has better traffic and isn’t that dense either. When I look on KZbin and all I see is us foreigners going to Cebu, bgc and a few other places in the Philippines people really need to stop overlooking mindanao even though Mindanao doesn’t have that spark and isn’t going to cater to tourists but still it is very rural and cultural area people should challenge themselves more culturally instead of flocking to areas where everything is convenient and then facing stores and restaurants that your used to.Because it will keep you comfortable and we all need to get out of our comfort zones. So the city for me is a complete no,most definitely in the Philippines too dense too much bad traffic and all of those people hell no 😅I wouldn’t think twice Mindanao it is.

@@jetd9716 yeah your right. But life is more depressing in the Philippines! Everywhere you go always you will see slums, dirt and poverty! And also yearly visited by storms and floods, lack of infastructure too. Roads are very bad, pavements or sidewalks are narrow worse some has poles or posts on it that you have to turn side ways or walk on the side of the road. This is why BGC and Makati is the crown jewel of the Philippines which is a very tiny bubble spot surrounded by slummy environment! Healthcare is only good if you have money!... That 7,000 island you talking about only 10% inhabitated, some of the islands are even snake infested! And of course the climate or weather is not pleasing! This is the reason we left the Philippines! These are some of the reasons lots of Filipinos left the Philippines! The only good things in the Philippines is the BEACH and that's it! If you are an expat and you want to be a celebrity, popular, being patronize like those loser vloggers who just wants it increase subs, or you are just a person never experience fancy life in the west and you want to show off or brag then the Philippines is ideal for you! Sorry but this is the reality in the Philippines! Yeah I know it does exist in other countries too but as a local, the Philippines is WORSE than others!.... Why MAURITIUS! weather is really great! The beach is much better and not so crowded than that in the Phils! It's a Hindu country but other religions do exist! Their passport is far more powerful than that of the Philippines! Ideal if you are into crypto, or a digital nomad or business guy. In other words OFF the RADAR country! The Philippines is only nice to explore if you are just visiting or on holiday but not a good place to retire. And it's not as cheap as you think. It is also expensive since expenses mutates there, you will only realize it later when you stay longer. Staying in the province is not good too. City or rural both has very slow in terms of things being done. And food is not good either! Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese and Indonesian are better. Filipino food is hybrid or copied from other countries.

I can name over a hundred Filipino dishes you have never heard of. I wish you’d stop saying “the west” when what you really mean is “the USA”. Many western countries don’t have the problems of the USA that you often speak about. Please don’t speak of the west as some homogeneous, undifferentiated whole.

As an American who just came from my most recent stay in England for a few weeks as well as having been to Canada several times there is definitely more commonalities amongst those countries (outside of the US' gun culture) than they share with southeast Asia, the global south or elsewhere. Hell if you're going to tout your don't generalize stance then why did you just generalize a country that is as diverse as the people in Spanish speaking parts of Miami or NYC with ranchers in Montana? Do you think California is the same as Wyoming too?

@@Aquinas181 Having lived for many years in the UK and other western nations I couldn’t disagree more. The cultural differences are huge, as is the way of thinking. The gentleman doing the video is generalising.
