Good afternoon Scale modeler, At least it afternoon here.I have never used clear coat before. So I took the advice of many of the guys on youtube that have been doing this for a long time. The clear coat that it came down to was a Dupont rattle can # A-7480S. I hope that it's as good as they say it costs $25 for a 32oz. can. I have a nice base coat and I guess that I'm ready to start spraying the clear coat. I don't know whether to put the decals on first or not. The base coat is Tamiya rattle can yellow. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx, Mac
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
Michael McNeive if you use tamiya as a base. Use tamiya as a clear aswell. Mixing and matching various brands and paint types can turn in to a dissaster. If your happy with the base. You can go and clear it. Apply the decals and finish clearing it

Hi TOM I am finding with 2k clear that in order to get rid of orange peel I have to really lay that last coat on thick. Results are pretty good but with some loss of details. How flat are your final coas? Do you sand and polish all your cars? Thanks
@TheScalemodelingChannel6 жыл бұрын
You can also lay the first and second coat on a bit thicker to help eliminate it a bit. I do not sand of polish mine
@randybodenner6266 жыл бұрын
The Scalemodeling Channel Ok thanks - but I thought with zero 2k the first coat had to be light.

Only when your covering a lot of decals ;)

For the 2K Clear, does it have a shelf life? Can get the same from a different manufacturer here, but only has like a 2 week shelf life (the hardener part). When it takes a week, sometimes a week and a half to get to you, don't have much time left to use it.
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
There is a shelf life, but as long as you close the bottle propperly it can be a month or 6 to a year

How do you hold the hood so that you can paint the back side of the hood completely? I'm getting little marks on the top side of the hood while trying to completely cover the back side. Thx, Mac

Michael McNeive i dont. i have marks on the inside

Why you use 0.2 needle ? keep going ur great job :)

because it works fine for applying color, and it is a bit more precise

You usually tell us what size needle your using. I've never seen you use anything but a .2mm. However, during your clear coat video I didn't see a needle size. So I'm curious, did you use the same .2mm needle? Thx Mac P.S. I see that you painted the calipers Gun Metal, did you use a different color on the rotors?
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
I switch between 0,2 and 0,4 pretty much every painting video. 0,2 is for colors 0,4 is for primer and clear silver
@McNeive10007 жыл бұрын
Silver?

Great work! Congratulations ;) you don't paint the interior? In the end for the 72h, where do you live to dry? Can't have any dirt in those 72h. Thanks
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
+Barndoor PSR after 30 or 60 minutes the dirt will not matter as the surface is dry. The dirt only damages the paint straight after or during the aplication. I just leave it in the spraybooth for an hour and then move it to the hobby room
@alexandrenogueira53787 жыл бұрын
Thanks ;)

Barndoor PSR he probabaly painted the interior, he just needs to post it someday

Probably yes! Let's wait for that vídeo. 😉 I believe that is not easy. But I want to learn.
@kylesagun1567 жыл бұрын
Barndoor PSR I want to learn too, it's just weird since I don't have an airbrush or spray cans of every color, so it's weird having to hand paint everything :(

Hello. I need your help! I have an H&S Silverline 2in1 and using ZP but i am not proud of my results. I painted a Porsche with the Gloss Black but when i applied it, it never shines like yours and feels like "sandpaper" on my model even after 3 coats! I'm working with the 0.4 needle at 25psi. Do you know what can i do to change it please? Thank you and by the way great job! your models are awesome!
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
wyt boi GTAddict lower the pressure to 15 psi. Maybe thin the paint a bit. Also do you meen gloss black as in black and then gloss clear. Or gloss black?
@wyt_boi7 жыл бұрын
The Scalemodeling Channel at 15psi it seems like the paint do not want to go out of the airbrush.. I have the FPC on it, maybe a setting to do with? Gloss Black is the name of the paint
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
Try thinning it a bit, also the gloss black does not shine as much as you would like. I would use a black and then gloss clear on top.
@wyt_boi7 жыл бұрын
The Scalemodeling Channel ok i will try this. Can i thin it with the ZP airbrush cleaner or not? And i also have the 2k clear to make it shiny at the end
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
wyt boi GTAddict you can. But use a very very small amount. It is pretty agressive

WOW!! simply beautiful.. I have a question for you Tom. I notice you don't mention anything about washing the parts with soapy water or wiping them down with any kind of wax & grease remover or rubber alcohol or tack cloth. have you ever use any or do you feel blowing it down with air is sufficient enough. And finely if one wanted to see you build you a specific kit would you build it it if was shipped to you? Cheers
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
+Allen Parks i used to wash it with soap and water. Then just water. And then just removed the dust and used a tack cloth. And every time i skipped a step. The finish was the same. So i skipped pretty much all of them XD I would take it in to consideration. Can't make any promises.
